    Penobscot bow

I have been an archer all of my life. At age 13 I entered an archery tournament and won a 1st place trophy 🏆! I continued shooting competitions and tournaments throughout high school. After graduating from high school I stopped shooting competitively with an impressive collection of 1st Place trophies and ribbons, and ONLY 1st place. In my 5 years of competing, I honestly never received anything other than a 1st prize placement. So I won my first tournament, my last, and all of the ones in between!!!
I love archery 🏹 and those that incorporate it in with their lives can learn a great deal from practicing this martial art!!!
Your video is awesome!!! I SO enjoyed it!!! I have River Cane that grows right beside our house on a lake between Louisiana and Texas! It’s not as big as Bamboo, but I’m sue I can make it work to build my own bow like this!!! Once I’m done I will send you a pic of my finished product!!!
This video inspired me so much I just HAD to try to make one myself!!!! Thank you!!🙏🏼 😊🏹

This is also the traditional bow of my people who are closely related to the Penobscot First Nations. I am Mi'kmaq First Nation myself and learned at a very young age on how to make one of these bows using all tradition ways and no modern machines were used. I wish my Uncle Ray was alive today to see others carrying on traditional ways even if they are not of our people.

I just checked out what the Penobscot is. Still in Maine of USA, don't know if your tribe had been relocated to different Indian reservation? I am from Taiwan and know very little on details of US history. I read an article about casino on tribal land like they're there casinos in Detroit now. There are certain types of commercial combination of tribal members and investors can really benefit your folks. I think the first factor is the size of the tribe. Your tribe is about the right size. If too big then there's not much profit can be shared. Just my two cents!

Im iñ Maine. USA home of the penobscot indian.and I make bows as well. The real bow was made from oak, ash, maple, but you can make them with other materials. The penobscot bow is a combination of a bow, with the action of a compound bow. the indians would form bow. Soak it,and bend on fire. And tie to tree to set bend.
