Thank you so much it’s my first time living alone and I’ve decided to try washing detergent as it’s cheaper for the first time and had no idea where to put it. ❤️
Thanks! I started pouring in the wrong draws a couple years back and couldn't work out why the quality of wash had declined slightly. Now I pour my detergents and fabric softeners in the right draws! I just put a load on to celebrate. Thanks!
Thanks ♥️ my washing machine is exactly the same one I mislaid my instructions somewhere so I Google Lensed the drawer in open position and added "instructions" and your video came up .. luckily I was putting powder in the middle drawer as a guess for months but it was bugging me as I really needed to know ... I now put a dash of apple cider vinegar in the vent tray thanks to your advice
I won the exact same debate. !!!! My wife STILL saying everyone else is wrong and detergent liquid goes far left and conditioner in middle compartment. She simply won't watch this video 🤣🤣🤣
I have a similar model, if not the same. Mine does not have a pre-wash setting, the instructions explicitly say do not put any detergents in compartment 1, only compartment 2. My old Hotpoint machine did have a pre-wash setting & I did use compartment 1. Anyway I just pour liquid detergent into a measuring cup & throw it in with the clothes. 😁
Hi! This helped a lot as I have mislaid my instructions, I have exactly the same washing machine, how do you select a pre wash? I’ve always been stumped about that!
I'm back on liquid now. And it's Comfort. But all the pods should work in a soft water area - it's the best sort of water for washing. You aren't overfilling the machine are you?
No. Put the liquid in the left drawer. Worked thankfully. I’ve got a box of Ariel that’s rubbish and bought a bottle of Persil. I will try the Comfort ones next. Thanks 😀
Hi :) do you know if there is a quick wash option, without the drying? I tried 13 but my clothes never come out feeling/smelling properly clean, especially socks, pants, etc, as that option seems to focus most of the time on drying rather than washing.
This particular model doesn't self wash as such. But you can buy washing machine cleaner at the supermarket. You run it through the machine (whilst empty) on the highest temperature. Or you can buy something called Calgon which is designed to keep the machine and mechanisms clean.
Yes there is such a thing as too much powder. It will totally clog up your machine. On every box / bag of washing powder you buy, there are guidelines as to how much you should use. Don't exceed them.
The instructions in my manual say "liquid detergent should only pe poured in immediately prior to the start of the wash cycle". What does that mean? Am I supposed to hit start, wait till it starts spinning or filling up with water and then open the bloody compartment and pour the derergent as fast as I can?
It's just bad wording! You put EVERYTHING (pre-wash powder, liquid detergent and fabric conditioner) in before you start the washing machine cycle. Most times you'll only need liquid detergent (middle drawer), but if you want to use the other stuff, it still goes in right at the beginning.
i think maybe they worded it like that to emphasize that you shouldnt pour the liquid detergent in and just leave it there for hours before starting the wash. Not sure why you would do that anyway, but that's what it sounds like to me. Maybe leaving the liquid detergent in the compartment without starting your wash immediately, somehow damages or clogs up the machine.
Thank you. I have this machine and the manual doesn't even tell you what compartment 1 is for. It just says do not put detergent in compartment 1 and doesn't tell you what it is for haha
@@drmousettebut I wasn't to know it was a debate without watching the video, the title poses a question as if the video was to provide an answer. 😊 Which it does for that one specific machine 😁
Hi, it should say on the back of the packet. It all depends on the hardness of the water, level of soiling (not much I hope!!!) and how much stuff you've put in there. They usually have a measuring cap on liquid detergents which is the easiest method.
If you live in hard water area it is reccomended you add a water softener such as Calgon occasionally. Does anyone know which compartment this should go in?
No. But you can clean it by using ‘washing machine cleaner’ (from your supermarket), or running white vinegar through it. Both at max heat with no clothes in. Also, make sure you keep the drawers, rubber seals and filters clean - I’ve done videos on that. Hope this helps

Thank u so much, I live by myself and have no one to ask about stuff like this.. so this helped a lot xx

No problem. Glad you got it sorted

Glad it helped, and that you were doing it right. The vinegar thing really works doesn't it?
Thanks. You solved a debate and I won with fabric conditioner

There isn't a pre-wash on it's own. But all the cycles have their own built-in pre-washes which will take powder from the pre-wash drawer.
What pods do you use? I am in a soft water area and can't find anything that works well. Want back to liquid and failed at the first hurdle! lol

Hi, no there isn't. The 'Specials' settings are the closest thing because they have short cycles, but they are not designed as quick wash
Agh, thanks for confirming :) at least now I know and don't have to mess with every option to be sure 😅 Appreciate the reply.
Thank u! Simple, but useful info.
Thank you 😊
How do self wash your washing machine please? I want to wash mine but I don’t know how to do it. Kindly help me if possible. Thank you.

is there such a thing as too much powder to put in the compartments, or can you just fill them up?

@@drmousette Thank you.
As I am really new to using the washing machine... Could you please explain about the last detergent which you put it inside ?
hi, yes you put fabric conditioner or fabric softener in the 3rd compartment
Thanks for sharing this. How many cups of detergent needed for this machine?
It totally depends on how many clothes you're washing and how dirty they are lol! They usually have guidelines on the back of the detergent packaging.
Lifesaver video, many thanks!!
Thank you for your feedback! ☺
Just check the manual for my similar looking Indesit and it looks like compartment 1 isn't used for anything.
LOL - That's why I did this video - the instructions are very poor.
The instructions in my manual say "liquid detergent should only pe poured in immediately prior to the start of the wash cycle". What does that mean? Am I supposed to hit start, wait till it starts spinning or filling up with water and then open the bloody compartment and pour the derergent as fast as I can?

What happens if you put liquid detergent in the pre wash drawer that is only meant for powder
That's a good point and I am not 100% sure. It is manufacturers guidelines for Indesit.
Thank you. I have this machine and the manual doesn't even tell you what compartment 1 is for. It just says do not put detergent in compartment 1 and doesn't tell you what it is for haha
For mix clothes can I use powder detergent
Yes of course. Just make sure you wash whites and darks separately!
I must be the only man to look for a manual and be disappointed. Thanks!
Hang on! You're a Man, and you looked for a manual?! The world will stop spinning on it's axis 😂. No seriously, no worries
My machine is main wash/conditioner/pre wash in that order from left to right.
There's not really any debate as each brand do their own thing
If you're not debating it, no need to watch really
@@drmousettebut I wasn't to know it was a debate without watching the video, the title poses a question as if the video was to provide an answer. 😊
Which it does for that one specific machine 😁
Can we use powder detergent for this machine or just liquid
Hiya, you can use powder for the pre-wash and the main wash. Just don't use liquid in the pre-wash (first compartment).
How much ml liquid or powder should I put in compartment 2 for 8kg washing machine
Hi, it should say on the back of the packet. It all depends on the hardness of the water, level of soiling (not much I hope!!!) and how much stuff you've put in there. They usually have a measuring cap on liquid detergents which is the easiest method.
so can you put powder in 1&2?
Yes
If you live in hard water area it is reccomended you add a water softener such as Calgon occasionally. Does anyone know which compartment this should go in?
If you know tell me please
Yes, it goes into the main wash compartment (number 2)
How do you remove the drawer ?
Please ;-) I have a tutorial on my channel if you have a look.
Does this one have self cleaning skill?
No. But you can clean it by using ‘washing machine cleaner’ (from your supermarket), or running white vinegar through it. Both at max heat with no clothes in. Also, make sure you keep the drawers, rubber seals and filters clean - I’ve done videos on that. Hope this helps
thank you for this!
Thank you so much!
How many tbsp of washing powder do I put in the main
It depends on how full the machine is. There are usually guidelines on the detergent packaging
Thank you please could you send me cycle times as i have this model with no book,
Crikey that would take me forever. Have you searched online for a manual?

very helpful thank you!
You're most welcome. Thank you for your feedback!
Washer not. Washer dryer.
It's definitely a washer dryer. Either that or I forgot to turn it on yesterday, because all my clothes came out dry.
thanks! I was convinced that I suppose to put liquid to the first drawer 🫣
Glad I could help!
I just did, that's why I am here🤦♂️
