    Big Dave is a true and dignified gentleman.
    He has a real knack of getting clubs that have lost their way, back on track.
    He did the same at WBA. We were in a real mess when he took over but unified the club and if he had took over a month earlier, we would have stayed up.
    He's been treated badly as a manager. At West Brom he was sacked and we were in the Play-Off positions and now Sheffield Wednesday have sacked him after a fantastic promotion through the Play-Offs.
    Club owners generally are clueless.

    • @paulflewitt5599
      @paulflewitt5599 10 месяцев назад +2

      Wednesday didn't sack him. Reading between the lines of a few different statements, it seems the demands made for this season by our owner made Moore's position untenable and he made the decision to leave. In short, Chansiri expected a push for promotion right away, but wasn't prepared to give Moore the players he identified. Speculation was that he asked for more money and an extended contract, which I view as security against being asked to do an impossible job. Chansiri refused to give him that security, and so that was that. I can't blame Moore for making that decision. He left our club with a lot of respect from me.

      @mattpotter8725 10 месяцев назад +2

      My suspicion is that he's been given an NDA and paid off. He basically said nothing here, everything is private, there was just a disagreement about how to go forward, probably about recruitment, which they're also had disagreements about in January, and that was the final straw. As someone who was never DM's biggest fan, he did a good job with what he had at his disposal, it took time to get players in that could get us out of the league we were in, and deserved a shot at the Championship with these players and some necessary additions. It probably came down to Chansiri telling him he'd be working the players and he'd just have to deal with it. DM said no and so he left the club. Also, no manager who has just got a club promoted will accept a one year contract, and I just don't believe Chansiri's claim that he wanted 4x his salary, unless he was on a zero hours contract, and basically being paid on results, which I would put past our owner.

    I have to say, as a Wednesday fan who has had my concerns around DM during his time at the club, Darren Moore is a very honourable man in my opinion. I don't think he really told us anything new here about what went on concerning his departure, and to be honest I don't think he wants to rock the boat, discussing as doing so might put prospective employers off bringing him in. I wish we knew more of the reasons from his side but I don't think we ever will because we be said his private conversations with the own, Mr Chansiri, are, and I think anyways will be private.
    Maybe he's been given a NDA not to talk about it and paid money to not do so, but as a fan I'd love to know how did it the story because I just don't believe the club's side saying he was asking for 4x his salary, and that for his coaching staff, unless they weren't paid that much salary and it was all paid in bonuses for reaching the playoffs and then promotion. I've just never seen a manager leaves a club after promotion when they didn't move to another club that had poached them. This for me was a very odd thing to happen, and as not being DM's biggest fan I still wish he was at the club, as he did a good job and seemed to know the strengths and weaknesses of the players at the club, something the current manager doesn't seem to, and he didn't even seemed to be interested in finding out, except on the training ground. To him is almost as though last season never happened.

      4x salary makes sense if you view it as over the three years he was asking for as a contract. A 33% increase then. Between this statement and Chansiris you can piece together how it went down

    'How difficult was it to walk away' he was shown the door. Currently no takers. Unemployed. He wanted 4 times his salary or he was leaving, goodbye. You don't include luck on your CV. We had the gods to thank for promotion. He failed away at Barnsley tactically. This led to a spell when auto. promo was lost and he had no idea how to arrest that spell. He is one dimensional and a zero technician.
