I would personally wait until they figure out a replacement battery that won't catch on fire, get better range, won't take as much room, faster charging, cost less, and for them to start using axial flux motors, which are more power dense, weigh a LOT less. EV's are STILL in their infancy. For a modern EV, they literally barely a decade old. Look how long it took the auto industry to pull as much power as they can from ICE engines. They pull 400 HP out of a 2L 4 cylinder engines in cars whereas 50 years ago, they barely got that much out of an 8 cylinder engine that's literally over 3x the displacement. I remember my father owned a Mercedes 6.3 300 SEL and it was a 6.3 Liter engine with 300HP. And at the time it was one of the fastest production cars on the market.
Leased this Q8 ET SB white/brown prestige with black optic package and 10 spoke wheels (Jul 2023 in CA). Lease deal cap reduction = $7500 tax incentive + $3k from Audi + $3k from dealer. Chose it over rivals from BMW, MB, & Tesla (didn’t consider Jag). Each has their + & -. Q8 best interior, very quiet, and great ride. Poor range, so far 250-260 @ 100%, 205 - 210 @ 80%. So so charging infrastructure, but we charge at home. If we travel we need a break every 250 mi anyway.

The ICE Q8 is a very different car than this on a different platform. I have the Etron and it is MUCH smaller than the Q8. Not sure why Audi rebadged the regular Etron to Q8 Etron.

DUDE you gotta drive it in Sport Dynamic- pull shifter down- will display an S instead of D- you were only in drive so you didn’t have 20% more battery. It’s insane. Just bought a year old version in this spec. I’m in love! After driving a bunch of kids in only expedition maxs over the years this is FUN and I do not miss a gas station.

Great review. Gorgeous car, gonna get one at some point. Presently have a PHEV 2020 Q5 55TSFIe and I love it. With 45km’s on it my fuel average so far is 2.5L/100km. ❤Basically the charge gives me ~35km pure electric which means all those short/local trips never use any gas.
Another comment: If you set regen mode to manual, and use regen paddles to max before you start driving, you get a one-pedal like driving feeling 15:48

Yay! A normal dash with normal gauges and intuitive controls! Actual wood and leather, not cheap vinyl and plastic! A steering wheel that doesn't look like it came off the Pep Boys rack! Doesn't qualify for tax credit so you actually have to pay for it all yourself! Amazing! Totally unheard of for most EVs sold!!

EV are priced way too high. They are catering to the rich. What about us normal citizens who might wanna think EV but are priced too high. Auto makers need to come down to reality
But, in the long term it isnt too expensive. Consider that the fuel (electricity) is much cheaper thant gasoline. Maintenance is cheap and infrequent as compared to an ICE car. And EV drivetrains last more than twice as many miles as an ICE drivetrain.
Like any new tech you pay to be an early adopter. EV’s are still relatively new and are still making new advancements. There are used EV’s and plug-in hybrids that are more cost effective. But don’t forget about the government discounts offered for buying an EV or hybrid vehicle to help subsidize the cost…
When I was test driving and reviewing my 2 Audis the electric ⚡️ one was over $1000 usd per month !!! As a lease ! With 2k down. Every day people can’t afford these EV unless you choose Hyundai.

I just left the dealership and they are offering up to $20k in discounts! They even have some leases for $600 a month.
