Worldschool Week Ep. 8 - LOVE or HATE? Will we EVER return to TAIWAN? Yes, Yes we will!
You know what's funny about last days in a city? How everything suddenly comes together. Today we're wrapping up our week in Taipei by diving into the parts of the city we hadn't explored yet - and discovering some real gems along the way.
We started at the National Taiwan Museum (which somehow cost our entire family less than a coffee), wandered through the deeply moving 228 Peace Memorial Park, and let the kids go wild at a hidden discovery center that most tourists never find. Plus, I finally learned to stop complaining about Taipei's summer heat. Okay, that last part's a lie - but I tried!
Fair warning: this episode gets real about some heavy history, but it also shows how traveling with kids can turn even the most "boring" museum day into an adventure. And yes, I'll share exactly how we managed to do all this without destroying our budget or our kids' patience.
Whether you're planning your own family trip to Taipei or just curious about what museum-hopping with kids actually looks like, come along for our last day in this incredible city.

It’s really rare to see a traveler coming to Taiwan and introduce the history of 228 in such a respectful and sincere way, most travelers only go to the Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall and appreciate it, that always make me kind of cringe as a Taiwanese because Chiang is the one who started all this human rights violations.😢 thank you for incorporating the historical aspect in your vlog!! I’m happy that you and your family enjoyed the museums❤

Thank you for taking your time to visit the 228 memorial. On a lighter note, the memorial was built on the site of the first ever baseball game played in Taiwan. Though the players were all japanese. The bronze horse used to stand in front of the Taihoku Shinto shrine.

There are different things to enjoy in Taiwan in each season. Summer in Taiwan is hot and humid but it is also the season where most of the fruits are in season. Taiwan is a paradise for fruit lovers. If you like fruits then you definitely want to visit Taiwan during the summer. The temperatures are much nicer in spring and autumn. There are more celebrations and festivities during these seasons. Winter can be cold especially most residences aren’t equipped with heaters.

I enjoy your whole series about Taipei. Good job. Taipei is my home town, and I'm settling down in Tainan now. If you really decide to come back to Taiwan again, please make a plan to visit southern Taiwan such as Tainan and Kaohsiung. Winter is the best time for tropical Tainan and Kaohsiung. And more important, you'll experience a different aspect of Taiwan.

Eastern and southern parts of Taiwan are totally different from metropolitan Taipei. If you have time, make sure to save some time for them? Even the mountains will give you a lot of unique experiences. There are many mountains that are over 3000 meters and you could experience aboriginals' cultures (there are 16 tribes of aboriginals in Taiwan. As for the weather, although winter is cooler, northern Taiwan usually rains a lot. If you come to Taiwan during winter, don't forget to head to the south and the east.

Definitely go back in the cooler months. There’s so much yummy hot foods to eat but are uneatable in the summer heat. Taipei will be cold and wet in the winter month, so avoid. Most places also don’t have heating still, another reason to avoid winter unless you like showering in the freezing cold.

Summer though hot it's when air pollution is the least. So colors are more vivid. Starting in fall, especially the Southern part of the island, it's all haze and smog, not pretty pictures. It really depend on wind. If it's coming from North East pollution starts to get bad if it's coming from South West it's good.

In addtition I strongly recommand Taroko National Park-- the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan included in your Taiwan trip checklist someday in the future. Most Taiwanese people have never entered the 228 Incident Memorial Hall, including me. After all, this is a gloomy past of our country.
History never only has a glorious side, but also has a dark and bloody part. However, we can forgive history, but we cannot forget it, otherwise it will be like Hegel said: "The only lesson humans learn from history is that Humanity never learns any lessons."

What you see on those panels is just one angle of the history. If you dig deeper into other sources, you may hear different voices regarding that incident. Anyway, you did an excellent job bro.

    歡迎你們到台灣來體驗,下次到台灣來可以選在11-4月,建議可以到南部玩,台南、高雄可以讓你們體驗與台北不同的城市風格。

The winter weather is cooler. Not as hot in the summer months. Definitely recommend checking more of the mountains and other parts of Taiwan next time.
