Jimmy Carter was committed and dedicated to making the world a better place, and he practiced what he preached, an example of true greatness and talent used in the service of doing good on behalf of others and not only ones narrow and short term self interest.
The country thought the trickle-down-theory man was a better choice. We all saw how that turned out. Jimmy was the first POTUS vote for me, and I am proud of that.
He was a reactor chief on a sub in the Navy…Years later when the three mile island accident happened he understood the situation as well as the plant engineers….
From a British perspective, I hold Carter in high regard and I think history will treat him kindly. In 1977, he visited my region - North East England to a warm reception with our Prime Minister Jim Callaghan (yes both JCs) - Carter's ancestry was from the area. A local official said 'Mr Carter, you are a Georgian, today you become a Geordie' (Geordie being the demonym of people from Newcastle upon Tyne)
Jimmy Carter: the living Saint we had! All saints should strive to be as devoted to Christ! GOD BLESS YOUR MEMORY, President Jimmy Carter ❤😊 my Mommie also has passed just now. May u join her with the Holy Angels in HEAVEN! Go on to His Glory ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤🎉
Too often Presidents are judged only by their time in office. However in the case of President Carter his legacy is shaped by what he did after holding office.
Carter is often blamed for the Iran hostage crisis but there is compelling evidence that Reagan done a deal with Tehran to have the hostages released on the very day of his inauguration to look good. Carter was actually working tirelessly right up to he got on the helicopter to secure their release and he said he was elated by the news. I will remember Jimmy Carter as a great humanitarian and very capable statesman who secured the Camp David Accords. He also instituted FEMA.
The good works he did after leaving the White House really shouldn't be used to cloud what a disaster his term in the White House was. Gas lines. Interest rates at 18%. Rampant inflation (makes our recent little bout of price hikes look like child's play). Stagnant job growth. The embassy in Tehran overrun and his inept response. He was a good, well-meaning man in a job that was just way too big for him.

We saw how Jimmy turned out. Stagflation, recession, and the hostage crisis.
@@prometheustv6558 How would YOU have handled the hostage crisis?
Carter was in the Navy and he had real experience with military affairs.

Jimmy Carter is the type of American we all should aspire to be.
Oddly I find myself grieving for what feels like the last living connection to the 1970’s.

as your president.

President Carter was a highly moral American who lived the Gospel and served his community with character, integrity and grace.

Wdym too often why shouldn’t a president be judged by what they did as president.

the last decent man to serve as president was jimmy carter.
Jimmy Carter was an exceptional American.
An exceptional human of the world.
@@kimberlyenglehardt5770 Indeed he was.
A truly man
What Carter gets wrong about human rights is that if every good thing in the world is a “human right” this concept is meaningless
Ethopians had several civil wars Carter tried his best to end it.

What would YOUR response have been?
Laughable! Terrible POTUS but sweet guy. Better pres than Biden, imo.
This is such nonsense 😂
