The original bag begins with 13 foundation ovals. the pattern will work with any odd number of foundation ovals at the beginning: 15, 19, etc...

absolutely gorgeous, but seriously not beginner friendly. I am a beginner and I learn better by watching and following. You simply went to fast for a beginner like me. it wouldn't do me much good to download the pattern because I have a hard time understanding them. but I love this purse and maybe one day I'll be able to do it.

great pattern! We've been working on using reusable bags instead of plastic as we have just way too many empty bags piling up. Also, you can carry so much more in a reusable bag than in a plastic bag.

I have some random skeins of yarn I need to use up before I buy more, and I think this would be a great project. They are more sports weight yarns that I think will be perfect for this pattern. I just finished mine last night, and have started another one. My toddlers are down with the flu and so we’re cooped up for the next few days until fevers are gone. So this is a nice project you can work on, put down to run after the kids, and then pick up later. I hate when I put down a project and go back to it and can’t remember the pattern. But this was a nice, easy to remember pattern.

You can increase in multiples of the stitch pattern repeat. Or make it longer. I don't know how you want to increase it - wider or taller.

How important is it that I use the same weight yarn and hook size? Would it work in worsted and just be bigger? Or would that not work at all?
It is not important at all. Yes, worsted weight yarn and a larger hook will make a bigger bag unless you modify. Enjoy!

Beautiful bag but narration and written directions don't match for first rounds. Slowing down a little wouldn't hurt either, but I'm going to try.
