Here in Anchorage, we are no longer allowed to use single-use plastic bags so I have been crocheting market bags like crazy! (Making them for Christmas & to give away to the senior center). Yours by far is the best one I have made. Thank you Crystal for another great tutorial!

To figure out my yarn amount, I weigh my projects when I’m done. It gives me a good estimate and since the labels have approx weight it works. Just the way I found to be the best for me.

Our area is going "green"; so we are getting used to taking bags with us. It was really difficult, at first, but paying a nickel for each paper bag, I started remembering. This bag is the perfect size, for a quick trip. Thank you for the tutorial. This would make a great beach bag (made bigger).

I have made 5 or 6 different market bags and I think this is going to be my next. One thing to keep in mind though is that when choosing your bag height consider how it will hang when full. My largest bag smacks my knee, lol, lesson learned. I think it's going to become my beach bag.

I love this bag and the idea of the plastic base to strengthen the bottom is obvious but I've never seen before. So brilliant. My first visit to you and find you so easy to understand with close up shots as I'm relatively new to crochet. I have subscribed for more ideas and helpful advice. Greetings from the UK :).

Love this tutorial. I have this cotton cone that I've been wanting to make something with. I was thinking that cotton would be cooler to crochet that wool or acrylic in this hot Illinois weather lol. I love the addition of the beads. I'm an old hippie!

Love the plastic bottom. Looking at crocheting a diaper bag and making each side with plastic in them probably would make it stronger and then sew them all together. I have a couple months to figure out the design!!

Love this bag... You could also use the whole piece of plastic canvas for the bottom and make a beach bag
I bought a pack of plastic canvas and was thinking I’d use up my Hobby Lobby box of Sheepjes river/stone washed yarns with regular solid black cotton for the bottom. I gotta lay the bon bon out and try make ombré look on the main part of the bag.

Great project, but I have a question. You chained 43, but wound up with 118 stitches all around. Is your beginning chain 43 or 118? I’m a bit confused. Thank you in advance.
She's counting stitches on both sides, ends and corners.
