    Hi, Thank you for the great video. I have one question: On the table options I see the following: wp_micro_revisions
    Belongs to: microthemer [not installed] 0 0 bytes 1,024 bytes MyISAM 0 bytes Remove
    May I remove the plugins shown on the table if there is a bottom remove? Thank you in advance!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  4 года назад +1

      Hi Zeina,
      When it comes to the database there is no undo. So I would first make a backup of the database or your entire site including the database using a plugin like UpDraft plus.
      Then you can remove the plugins or tables related to plugins that aren't on your site anymore. Then if something goes wrong, you can revert back to your backed up site.
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    Have you seen any performance improvements to your site after running this? I would imagine if you are reducing the size of the DB, in theory that should help with the DB access and somewhat optimize the site. Just curious.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 лет назад

      I have for some sites and not for others. It depends on how badly the database needed optimizing...

    Does it take much space if I keep it installed after optimization? I don't want to forget using it a year later😁

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 лет назад +1

      It doesn't take much space and it shouldn't be loading anything in the front end so it should not affect your page load speed.
      Just make sure you update it when updates are released.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    Hi thank you for your helpful channel, may i know can i instal 2 plugins (wp fastest caches) and (wp-optimize)? hope to hear from you reply

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 лет назад

      Hi Meisa, yes, you can install both of those. They have different functions and should not cause a conflict. But you don't have to have wp-optimize installed all the time. You can install it, optimize the database and then uninstall it again. Then do it again a few months later. It takes quite a lot of activity on your website before you'll need to optimize the database again.
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 лет назад

      Hi Qadees, I think you mean a complete solution for optimizing WordPress for speed, is that correct?
      I have a tutorial on that coming.
      But here's a preview, there are two things that have the biggest impact on site speed:
      1. The speed of your host
      2. The theme on your site
      If the host and theme are slow and bloated then you can do all the optimization you want, but your site still won't reach it's full speed potential.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 лет назад

      +Bart J. Braswell Hi Bart, I'm not sure if it'll slow down your site. You could use the P3 Plugin Performance Profiler to test it. Here's a tutorial for that of you're interested: ruclips.net/video/Y-3Vm3iLRI8/видео.html
      And yes, you can just delete it after using it.

      Thanks. I'm new to this. Should I work on my site while live, or is there a proper way to do it?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 лет назад +1

      +Bart J. Braswell Most times working on it live is ok, but you should always back everything up in case something goes wrong.
      The proper way to do it us have your site mirrored onto a development or staging environment. Make the changes or plugin updates you want to make there. Test the site to make sure everything is still working. Then push the site from the staging environment back to live.
      It's a big pain to do, but much safer. Some hosts like WP Engine offer staging environment with one-click mirroring with their hosting.
      Does that process make sense?

    • @bartj.braswell4948
      @bartj.braswell4948 6 лет назад

      I watched a bunch of videos on staging and it does seem like a big pain. Most of the videos aren't very clear. I think you may have done one on it, but I'm not sure.
