Today, I join in mourning the loss of Phil Everly. He and his late brother Don added to the tapestry of American music, classics that has and will always endure in the minds of not only the discriminating listener but historians alike. Their hits were a little before my time but we can and had learned from history. Their absence from this earthly plain is felt but they are in better place where they can still make music for God. RIP Phil Everly.
Oh my, I was holding my breath when they walked across the stage to meet in the middle...we needed to see that Hug! Knowing their family story makes the music they created even more special !!🌼
brings tears to my eyes no matter how often i listen what a georgous family first Christmas without Don must listen to your Carols now God richley bless you all.wonder if Dons resting place with family graveyard in Kentucky?
Thank you for posting this wonderful video - among my favorite. I appreciate hearing the different perspectives and first hand accounts - particularly of the rarely discussed '73 performance.
@elizabethbeckman1947 - Yes, it is a wonderful video. Some of us are just a half-step generation younger than "the boys" and we were not there for the backstory. When we came along, they were already so famous that we never knew or heard about any family drama. This video clip is rare and precious.
I can't stand the incessant comparisons to Lennon and McCartney. Neither of those men EVER sang anywhere near as beautifully as, nor had the sheer vocal talent of Don or Phil. They sang together yes, but that's where the comparison ends.
@sarge9733 - Lennon and McCartney said that they first called themselves the British Everlys, but Simon and Garfunkel had an even closer harmony that strived to imitate The Everly Brothers. Even they admitted that their sound couldn't touch the original. No one could, or ever will.
Yes, both of Phil’s sons sing & Phil taught each to play guitar!! Jason, the older son has a career in the Philippines & parts of CA…but nothing like his dad & uncle!! Lol
R.I.P Don, last of the greatest Duos now gone..

Thank you for posting this video.
My goodness, i was only 6 when they started. I can't believe how much the Everly Bros have influenced my love of playing the guitar.
Jason Everlys voice really reminds me of Mike Dirnts voice, the Green Day bassist!
I wish i had the chance to watch their concert.
Me too.But all I have to do is dream 😭

Agree. Comparisons are not helpful at all - between artists, between fathers and sons...
