ah now I know. .. Micki steele's back-up singing is the best. Micki is a whole-package. Her face is painted by God! The most beautiful among them and even other women!
Susanna Hoffa is a victim of being too good looking, too sexy. It detracts from the fact she is a great performer, hold the crowd in the palm of her hand and has a great talent for writing really good songs ... Her energy is endless and her enjoyment of playing in a band and playing music she believes in is a joy to watch.... The only way to ignore that is by being spiteful against her, the fact she's such a decent human bring after all those years in this business is a testament to her as a person..... The bangles are just too good to be a guilty pleasure , they were a fookin good band......
The four of them were great songwriters. Susanna was always a collaborative artist, working with Vicki, Tom Kelly, Billy Steinberg, even Charlotte Caffey of the Go Gos. In her work with Steinberg and Kelly, Susanna and Billy were more lyricists, and Tom Kelly the composer. But Vicki, Debbi, and Michael also have some great compositions. I always remember, Michael's "Following" on their album "Different Light". It was so sultry and bluesy. And they're all solid instumentalists. Michael's bass lines are so effortless. Vicki rocks on lead, and Debbi is solid on drums. Susanna, when she grabs that tamborine shows why she prefers rhythm guitar, she's got a lot of percussionist in her, maybe because of her dance background at UC Berkeley. Although seeing her with a "Strat" was surreal. Not seeing her with her "Rick" (6 string or 12 string), or her characteristic "Taylor" accoustic, was weird. Susanna's my favorite but I love them all, and really miss Michael.
I do agree 100%. Susanna is truly beautiful and everybody's crush, but she is also tremendously talented, very intelligent and engaging in interviews, and a very decent person. I think she's the kind of person who could be a friend for life. I think the Bangles were in general very solid people that have had very stable lives.
@Lucas Westwood i dont forget the others Lucas, theyre a fantastic band and a great collection of players with a unique chemistry..... susanna is also one of my favourite solo artists too, shes recorded many fine songs..... this is probably my favourite bangle performance on fil as its from the start of my interest in them....
@Lucas Westwood Vicky is nice, but Sue is a great songwriter herself. She is a beautiful mind with a beautiful face, y todos la amamos.
I really like it. And susanna knows that this TV gig is important, so she gives all 😊. I think somehow this was the best time for the 4, together as a band. 84-85. After Michael in 83' joined the band, they got better and better. And still no Synthesizers! the clip is great!!
Ironically, some of their greatest hits have synthesizers. They did not play them themselves, but others wrote the parts for them and they had hits. For example, Manic Monday, written by Prince, definitely has a synth and was huge for them. Walk Like An Egyptian written by Liam Sternberg was the same. It was not until Everything when they started writing everything - and they had a number hits on that one without the synth.
@@RedArrow73 Question for you. How does a band make money? Songs that get a lot of airplay. That tends to be pop tunes. Look at Taylor Swift. Look at Aerosmith. Look at any popular band. You don’t have to like it but you do have to accept what the population wants.
@@Buc_Stops_Here All I meant to say was that their deep album cuts present better songwriting and musicianship. And I only have to die and pay taxes, sorry.
Bangles mis felicitaciones son un excelente grupo musical tocan magistralmente todas las melodías excelentemente qué papá Dios les bendiga siempre , saludos y les mando un fuerte abrazo cuidense mucho.
I am glad they gave it another go and gave us Doll Revolution just after the turn of the century. Another good album for the four of them and unfortunately their last as their reunion with all 4 of them only lasted for that album and the one track they did together for Austin Powers and Susanna Hoff's husband, Jay Roach (ironically, his request to his wife for a song for his movie got them to forgive each other and get back together for another 5 years - and the 3 who remain still perform together to this very day to my surprise).
Imagine its 1985 and you're introducing a song that Reflects On all california used to be. How could they have known how far down hill it would eventually go.@3:43
I remember doing a vhs tape recording of this.... It got lost over time. The internet and in particular RUclips is amazing, for having pretty much everything on it :)
It's fun watching Vicki playing her Les Paul. (I liked her almost black hair of that time, too.) I didn't hate their more pop sounding music; some of that material was outstanding, but I preferred the Bangles when they rocked out.
There was no "pre-Rickenbacker" Susanna. This instance is one of the rare exceptions. Sue used a Rick on All Over the Place, a Rick on the EP, a Rick on "Getting Out of Hand"....heck, she bought her first RIckenbacker in San Francisco when she was still in college
Great band, and it this point unique for the time.I get the Different Light era coming, shot them into stardom. Who knows, maybe if they stuck with this they could have gone the REM Route.Slow and Steady.
Fun to see them do “Hero Takes A Fall” in this setting then skip ahead 30 years to see them doing the same song - sans Michael Steele - in a video at the Whiskey A Go Go. Unshakeable talent.
@@joyk555 yes, and all the harmonies since Michael left have sounded very thin IMO. I never realized how the tone of Michael's voice filled in the gaps among the other 3 and made the sound so much richer until she left.
Lucas Westwood I’ve seen plenty of women in their underwear that I didn’t think were hot. It’s never changed my opinion much one way or the other. Susanna is hot because that’s the way it is. She could wear a potato sack 24/7 & it wouldn’t change that fact.
Is the date right on this ? I ask because on wikipedia it says the episode werent being shown in june 85 ! a Long shot on this, but Jools Holland played 2 songs before the bangles came on, anyone remember what he played ! He was filling in for an act that hadnt turned up !

VERY GREAT
I am a fan of BANGLES since 1985 and it's Great! Because I love the prettier & so wonderful Music Band in the wide world!
I like Katrina & The Waves version, on the B, Side of Walking On Sunshine, but to great to hear them sing their version no matter what.

Sussanna hoffs wow
Yes. Here she is really adorable
Extremely adorable. My

Las chicas ochenteras serias y responsables.

So stoopid that they couldn't be like this on their records....so much better this way....
Fred Flintstone Have you ever listened to their first record, All Over The Place? It sounds exactly like this.
Yes their debut sounds just like this. If you want it more raw studio work, just listen to their EP and Bangs output.
Awfully rare to see Sue playing a Strat!
Michael is playing her ever present Precision.
Vocal a bit echoey, but chunky drum sound.
