Round 12: Slow play - Warning. If the judge asked you, "Why didn't you attack for game?" and you provide an actual legitimate answer then follows it up with a slow play, 100% appeal that call, it is NOT FINE. 1. The state does matter, but also your answer matters too. 2. You can appeal those ones as now you have a he said/she said situation with the judge if they change why they are penalizing you. Their communication to you matters. 3. It's rare that a head judge doesn't uphold Slow play warning, but since that judge gave your context to appeal, 100% appeal it. Feature match: Staff at Table Note: 1 of them isn't judging, one is rallying information to the stream. I will say table judging at feature table should only be given to the most experienced judges with a keen eye and time awareness. A slow play warning is warranted in that instance. Because there's different ways to tackle slow play. Some offer it after many interactions or when it is done, others offer during the combo. It is both an instance of time waste AND cumulative time wasted, but slow play is slow play. If Billy / I were casting 100% we would be making that call out, "He's already read it before right? Judges probably need to keep a keen eye on this and issue a Slow play for re-reading cards and burning the clock, this could be a dangerous game he's playing," likely we would continue casting maybe throw in a comment about "That feels a bit anti-climatic"
14:08 he negated a card with appo that shouldn't even have been allowed to be activated in the first place. 19:20 this situation is absolutely pathetic if you ask me. It's the same situation as going into time with a blazing dragon on the field and then they just refuse to activate a card for 2 minutes to get the draw. Which should NOT be allowed at all if you ask me. I would have hated playing against Julius that game and I feel bad for the other guy.
Overall: I understand what you are feeling. There are good judges and there are judges that could use more training. There are those who should never be judges. Good judges receive good training, and are able to uphold the policy and identify intent and still be human about it. Some judges are afraid to issue penalties to their friends, and to that I say "Don't be a judge if your friendship is that fragile, because as a judge you are NOT their friend in that moment and if they are truly your friend they can will understand" Some judges are too chill, but it happens, there are many aspects to judging aside from rulings, their strength may lie else where. Ultimately the entire team of judges are the gears that keep the event running and all have a role to fill. Players may only see a specific role, but the staff and team give them duties to perform during the event to maintain a chain of command and communication as well. The scenarios described in there could be a lesson to be learned for all judges. That least thats how I personally feel.
Thank you for your feedback big bro! I appreciate everything you said and respect it 100%!!! I just hope that we can all together as a yugioh community learn from this…
I just wanted to give my perspective as player, judge and castor. The best judges don’t come by for free, they take time to nurture and gain experience. They are hard to find too. Those judges need to love to game, stay up to date, AND be willing to give up their spot to play.
I hope they don't ban you either I honestly consider what julius is doing is cheating you know what the cards dude bro sorry it's Nats you are a ycs winner you are making time go out just so you can go into battle attack and win off of time this is ridiculous I'm sorry this is cheating
I don’t think Konami would ban Kanak. 1. The points are valid and he’s making criticisms and not personal attacks. 2. He is highlighting inconsistency of situations handled by the specific judges. 3. He didn’t dox any judges. 4. He didn’t harass anyone, he voiced his opinion on scenarios.
As a judge you have to understand when players stall for time and give time extension for situations like these. This literally only happens because players are getting rewarded instead of punished for blatant stalling.
Situation 1 (Battle Phase 2): Based on your context only: That judge did a subpar job of acquiring context, investigating properly and communicating. After hearing what was said, the judge should have stepped in and confirmed if a draw was happening, understand what was the game state to check for discrepancy from what was heard to what happened. There shouldn't be a direct threat of "DQ / Match loss what so ever" I don't think that is proper communication. Some judges come off as power trippin. Also, since you did occur in an illegal game state, it was possible call the judge to confirm the game state after to confirm the proper procedure. However, if you signed the slip, I think it was still worth calling a judge to see if the judge is allowing the correction for the integrity of the event. Even if you don't call a judge, a judge is technically still responsible to be actively aware of conversations around them to prevent scenarios from escalating or ACTUAL intentional draws.
Situation 2 (Time thief forgets to come back) While I sense a lot of rounds/records being mentioned in the context you are providing, perhaps they matter to the player, those records/round hold little to no significance to the judges. What judges are paying attention to are the current action that took place, if the offence has been repeated, the current game state and the communication of what the players have said and are currently saying. If a judge just said "game loss" and issued penalties without a proper "For not returning the Time Thief Redoer back on to the field, you have failed to maintain game state, for that I will be issuing a PE - Minor with a Warning Penalty? Have your received a penalty previously regarding a similar play during the tournament?" Then that judge can use a little more training in communication. If the summon of that redoer blocked zones to even execute the play, it's still technically a reversible game state to the point (UNLESS a DRAW CARD was involved and making irreparable) where it both players agree it was legal. I feel like some context maybe missing here. Forgetting to summon something back is a PE-MINOR - Warning penalty. However, if this has occurred multiple times in the exact manner, a game loss upgrade for the PE-Minor is warranted. Even if the game state was 1-sided, if the outcome has NOT been determined and a repeat infraction occurred, getting an upgraded game loss sucks. This is so that judges can be consistent with the penalty issued and not include player advantage while issuing penalty, that makes sense. If a judge says: Your only mid game so the penalty is X if you were almost winning then you get penalty Y. That will result in bias complaints. Again, if judges only answered to judge calls, there would be a LOT of problems left unanswered and A LOT more game losses and rule sharking allowed due to allowing situations to escalate at which point the integrity of the event can get challenged. Imagine winning an event only for people to discredit it "But he won at THAT event, which people got away with all sorts of crap"
This is why I don't really play irl. Everyone's a scum bag. Even at locals people do this kind of stuff and cheat. If it played out properly the Calamity guy would just went to battle phase next turn and killed him. Time is too tight for tournaments.
Yeah when you're in a top bracket at a world championship, there is zero chance you haven't played alot of yugioh and don't know these cards. Cut the idiocy.
he knew what the deck did lol he was just stalling. reading cards that you know what they do is completely valid tho, sometimes you just need to make sure some effects work in the way you think they do. missreading is often the number 1 reason you lose games
when shit like this and even worse happen constantly on huge tournaments and even on feature matches... just imagine what's happening in lower tournaments and at local level..as long as TCG remains that way and doesn't somehow get more automated (like master duel is) it aint' gonna change
Slowplay for not going for OTK? Even if OTK would be possible that would be just a bad decision/play and not slowplay. Slowplay means taking long for actions for no reason and NOT for making poor plays (in your case it wasnt even a poor play).
I got a few things to say about this video: Yes there are Judges that still need to learn and yes there are also Judges that litterally dont know what pot of greed does, but you cant say: "yea this one judge did me wrong at that one event and because of that all the Judges are flawed and we need to do something about this". Also some of the examples are just not correct. The Julius Schwarzkopf one for example. In game 1 the specifics of Crimson Dragon didnt matter. He knew he was going to be locked, via Calamity and thats all that mattered at that point. In game 3 he needed to check for any potential atk boost effects etc. Additionally Julius didnt think for more then 10 second on any given interaction, which is completely resonable in a high pressure sitiuation like a feature match. Also the 2 of them didnt know their exact time because there is a seperate clock for the feature match at events like this. He also had to figure out that gamplan of attacking the crossheep there (Also we dont know if he had any interactions in his hand, that he might have had to think about). Also just because some random floor Judges interrupted your game while not having been called, and you lost because of it you cant assume that: 12:21 "judges love to interact..." (I assume you misstook that word because of the german word "eingreifen" or "einmischen"). Another point that you seem to have overlooked is that the Judges do not make the rules. They only enforce them. So if you decide to go to a yugioh tournament and it is prohibited at such tounaments to use dirty sleeves, you shouldnt be mad at the guy who gives you a gameloss for breaking those rules, but at the guys who made those rules. The Judge litterally has to do that. Its his job. Thats like blaming the referee at a tennis match for saying that it still counts as a point even when the ball touched the net first, because you think that thats a stupid rule (Also the rules exist for a reason, if Judges wouldnt give you penalties for dirty sleeves, cheating in this game would be significantly easier). All in all, I cant blame you for being annoyed at those Judges who did you dirty and Im really sorry for that. I also understand why you made this video and just want to show you why I think you are wrong. That being said I think this video, and the points being made in it, are not jusitfied. There are a lot of very hard working Judges who get degraded in the public view by videos like this. I think this is just shitting on the entire Judge Community because of some examples of anecdotal evidence and personal grudges against specific Judges.
18:45 Julius is a friend of mine and just asked him how much atk the cross sheep has, which maurice just said i don’t know, so him and the judges were figuring it out for a second that’s why it took that long
Its not about julius it’s about the judges that should have given at least time extension…and btw reading crimson dragon is also crazy👀 specially if that combo was done previously in game 1…but again im not roasting julius, its all about the judges…
@@TheKanak in that situation it was about if crimson shuffles for cost, which he did in game 1, and maurice said it does, but it doesn’t, that’s why he was reading again
Yeah I've seen a lot of judges just give out the complete wrong rulings a lot of the time on the feature matches and heard from my local players that go to those big events that they've had to appeal judge rulings and stuff like it because they unfortunately got a shit judge

Konami needs to change Time Rules. This system kinda creates these cringy duels like the one with Julius
