    What part of this cake do you think will be most challenging? What part of cake decorating do you find to be the hardest?

    I always seem to have trouble with getting my buttercream smooth and sharp. My problem is I don’t know when to stop fussing with it 🤦‍♀️ I just make a fresh double batch of gum paste last week. Plus, I had to buy a new KitchenAid pasta roller because my other one broke. It arrived the other day so I can’t wait to use it!

      I totally get that haha sometimes it’s better to must leave it and let it chill. Hope you have time to join us for the challenge :)!
      And omg what happened to your roller?! I’ve had mine for 10+ years now I’m worried I need a backup lol

      @@FinespunCakes I bought my roller about 3 years ago. I was cleaning it with a microfiber cloth and by mistake the mixer turned on and it got pulled into the roller. Then, I stupidly pulled the cloth and it sheared the gears right off… What a mess. So in other words, it’s broken. I’ve been wondering when you would hold another challenge and I was one of the first to sign up!

      @@lisaanderson135 Ahh nooo! we have almost been in that situation haha luckily it was on low so we were able to turn it off and remove the cloth. Lesson learned 😅I wish I could hold more they just take so long to put together 🥲

      @@FinespunCakes I completely understand about the free content on RUclips. It must take so much time and effort to make. I felt spoiled when you were releasing new content every 2-4 weeks during the pandemic. It was your teaching style and your generosity of your amazing recipes that also hooked me, not to mention your gum paste recipe with all the tips on how to make it, work with it, store it… I can know say that I am a intermediate sugar flower designer.

    OH my goodness. I reordered the Gum Tragacanth and made sure it was the one for Gum Paste. I absolutely love this gum paste. I have not found a recipe that I could make that worked at all. Until now. This is wonderful. Thank you so much!! I have a batch that i am working with, do I need to refrigerate when i am finished for the day, and take it out and sit for a while tomorrow before i start working again?

      Hi! I’m so glad it worked for you 🥰 yes I would refrigerate when you’re done for the day. You can knead it from cold and your hands will warm it up, I don’t usually wait 👍🏼

    I have trouble getting the gum paste thin enough (using your recipe and a kitchen aid pasta roller) and I have trouble getting pieces of gum paste to stick to reach other.

      Hmm that’s strange. Do you add a bit of cornstarch before putting it through the machine? Also which CMC brand are you using? Wondering if it could be a strong brand that is making it tougher to roll thin

    I ordered some Gum Tragacanth to make your gum paste recipe. I have been waiting for weeks to get it. But it is a liquid and says for leather edging 🙄 Will this work or do i have to find a different one?

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  5 месяцев назад

      Hey, I'm not sure the liquid will work... Might just try the recipe with CMC only? 2.75tsp per batch (depending on the strength of your CMC).

      @@FinespunCakes Thank you so much. I will try that and reorder and make sure it’s the powder.
