Love it, and love the aqua too. Before you said it, my mind was going to a bank of TVs. I tend to build an idea at the very beginning. It's almost impossible for me to work intuitively

I never know what the end result will be which is fascinating, it keeps me trying to guess haha. Again, I admire that there´s no pressure to come up with anything in particular, just navigating the canvas to see what happens... Love the end result 👏👏👏

I was on the fence with this one until towards the end you put a little bit of that pale orange colour then it was oh yeah! My favourite orientation was when it was upside. Cheers!

Hello! What a lovely painting again. I just sit and watch you painting, and I am fascinated! The thoughts at the beginning were: Oh, no, that won't work, and the music he listens to will turn the painting into something chaotic. (I do like a lot of different music, but today I feel quite peaceful, not really punky 😉) But hey, it is a great painting! I like the last orientation best, too.
Music influences my way of painting, as well. I usually start off with some calm music to get focused. Should I get too focused, I listen to Daft Punk. I just have to move the brush or whatever tool I use with the rhythm. I will play with the colours and it fascinates me every time how one can apply them. If I am stuck or frustrated, Rap or Punk will "guide" me through this phase😂.The stories reveal themselves at the end.

Hey Brigit! Thank you for such wonderful feedback. I was right there with you when I was painting at the beginning thinking, "not sure this is going to work out." And at one point I considered changing the music, but thought I needed to go with it. Worse comes to worse I would end up with a good background for another painting. I don't think I've listened to Daft Punk while painting - looks like I now have my music selected for painting tomorrow 😀 thanks! How are things in Australia?
Actually I just dropped off some paintings for an art show here in the bays at the weekend. Anyone could enter, so it wasn't difficult to get in. But!!! It's my first time to exhibit some of my paintings and I am very nervous, especially after seeing some of the other artworks. Not many abstracts so far. Which might be good. But of course there is the self doubt. Anyway, we'll see how it will go.

I do both. I paint with a story if I have one or intuitive if I don't have a story. I never paint for the viewer. I also never think about the person who going to view my painting and what they will need to add.

I rarely know the story of my art. To me, the art is the storyteller and I am just the vessel through which it speaks. It is not up to me to tell the story. This is not to say that this is how all art should be. As in most creative outlets, such as music, dance, pottery, etc, the art is the expression, and we, the artists, are there to hear what the art wants. This is only my own, personal view. Others may feel differently. My take is, art is alive. It breathes. It has a heartbeat. It also has a voice, yet, it needs someone to help it be heard. That is the artists job. For me, to help the art, I find that if I bring music in, as I am painting, it helps the art tell me what it wants. Art can work together. Music can speak to paint, and, for me, paint speaks to the music. But, I think any creative outlet works with any other to make a whole. That is the true voice. We, as artists, are there to propel that voice, only then, will it be heard.

Hi Chris, this is very interesting - I usually find my muse right about when I'm wondering if I should stop painting. Never even occurred to me until you brought it up. Now I can see a collaboration between abstract painter and short story writer. That would be an exciting exercise in creativity. Thanks again for a great tutorial video.

Another great demo, Chris, with a really engaging commentary... i constantly have stories going on in my head as i paint, much more so abstract than figurative. I really liked the crude minimalism at 1.29-1.49 and another point just before you got your fence painting brush and began whitewashing. I more or less imagined a bus journey along the coast 😊 👍👍👍
