I get a real vibe of looking down from above on a beach. The brown paper really reminds me of shaded sand. Glad you brought the red/yellow back in. I like this piece.
@chrisloudart think there's an issue with RUclips again not showing my comments all the time. Left two on your Stimulate composition for abstract art video the other day. Weird. I was sharing about my latest art, posted in The Shinery on Facebook.
That is really weird. I wonder why they don't show up. I went back to see if I could locate them, but didn't see any. The art on The Shinery is wonderful!!! Nice work!
I appreciate your authenticity - walking away can be complicated when one is in the midst of "playing". I think you did a good save there in the end. Tissue paper dots are awesome- more texture underneath? Again thank you for sharing your process, I enjoy watching and listening to you.
I just finished laying down collage paper with no intention, just to play and watched this waiting for medium to dry. It's a great way to get the creative juices flowing with no pressure. I too have trouble walking away and coming back with a fresh look. I like what you ended up with!
Thanks, Laurie! Sounds like we were on the same brain waves. Yeah, it's not always easy to walk away and it can definitely be challenging to look with fresh eyes. I usually flip the orientation before I walk away, so it forces me to look at a different view when I get back.

Thanks, Susan! I totally agree. Whenever I'm feeling like I'm not in the zone, this is the kind of thing I do and I give myself the freedom to try new things.
Doing the warm ups have really helped me get out of my own way. Scraps are great fun. Watching you got me using them more again. Thanks again Chris. Peace
Hey Summer! I'm so glad to hear that. Scraps are one of my go to materials when I'm looking at a piece that just isn't working. Adding a couple of small pieces of paper can give a little more character to the art.
Thanks, Valerie! I've put that on my list. I played for a little while after this video to practice a little more. Maybe I'll make a separate video to specifically focus on splatters. Thanks for your feedback! 😊
Very surprising, as I was filled with despair when you put down your polka for paper, covering up so many interesting things. But you always pull it off so well. I do a lot of walking away... anything from 1 minute to one year on some pieces😊😅😊
Thanks, Emmanuel! Yeah, I sat on it at that stage for a day and just felt like it wanted to be played with a little more. I might have overplayed with it a little, but play I did. 😂 Funny you say that about walking away. I was looking at a few unfinished pieces and I found 3 that I walked away from over a year ago.
Very nice. 🎨🖌️ A hint to help with SPLATTER! Thin the paint and fill a brush...(I mostly use a fan brush) and TAP the brush against another brush held in the opposite hand. It works great!! 🖌️🎨Paint on!!!😊😊Ok....I just saw you WERE tapping..the video was going to fast! Haha! Therefore...thin the paint and your problem is resolved!
Thank you! I love using the fan brush technique you describe. That is usually my go to method. I played around after this video and realized the paint I had success with was a thinner paint, so it worked well right out of the container. I thinned the paint in the video with water (made it too thin) and then tried right out of the tube (too thick). When I tried again with less water, worked exactly how I wanted. That was a good problem to solve. I appreciate your suggestions! 😊👍
Hi Chris. I’m new to your channel and loving the content. I’m more of a figurative artist and I’m trying to play more and explore abstraction and you are really helping with that so thank you. In one of your videos you used a tool for measuring the rule of thirds. I’d like to know what it’s called? Or do you have a link for purchase. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Paul! I think you're referring to the golden ratio calipers. I made my own, but here are some links for you: Golden mean calibers - amzn.to/3NRSzdo (these will work for art pieces up to 12 inches) Here is a larger one on Etsy - etsy.me/3r5vY46 Make your own - ruclips.net/video/yxXI5a6B79s/видео.html
Well, in regards to the video, I want the viewer to come away being inspired to intuitively play and experiment when creating without a specific finished piece in mind. As far as the artwork itself, I want the viewer to come up with their own thoughts as to what the piece says to them. I didn't have a certain message, meaning or reaction that I was aiming to have the viewer engage with. I realize that might seem like I'm skirting your question, but that's where I'm at with this one.
Bonjour Chris ❤❤❤ merci à vous , très beau, très instructif.
Passez un joyeux Noël Chris ❤❤
Merci Martine! Joyeux Noël à toi aussi ❄️🎄
I absolutely love it
Thank you so much!
Play helps exercise the creative process.
You're spot on, Alison! It's amazing how a little playtime can spark so much creativity.
Just do it! ❤
Here, here!🥂
so freeing!! thanks
Thanks, Dawn! 🙂
Love this 🇫🇮
Thanks so much, Ritta!❤️

Thank you for this interesting video! Love it! I'd like to see more abstract videos from you👍
Thanks so much, Ann! I'll make sure to create more like this. 😊

Thanks for your kind words, Marion! ❤️ I've enjoyed playing with the dotted tissue paper. I'm need to make some more. 😊

Ich finde die Collage Klasse🎉. Lieben Dank für das Video. Herzliche Grüße aus München Munich... Anna
Gruesse an München, bin dort aufgewachsen ❤ 😊, leb in Holland. Chris ist international 😊
Wie schön, dann bist du ja ein waschechter Bayer.
a hoiberder, mein vater war holländer 😉
Na immerhin beherrscht du den schönen "boarischen Dialekt" no. Amsterdam ist auch sehr schön. LG A.

I love how the ending is such a beautiful surprise ❤ and how you added the depth in the end 🙌🙌
Thanks, Kelly! It was a surprise to me too😂
Thank you for the crumpled brown paper + gel medium tip! I'll try it out. I have this idea of an old found letter for an art journal piece.
Also, I really want to see more of this kind of videos!
Hey Jumping Bee! You're very welcome. Let me know how it turns out. 😊
I'll add more to my list! Thanks for the feedback.
Those warm ups are very good to prectice and try different things with different materials. Just have fun. I enjoyed it ❤

Would enjoy seeing more abstracts like this. Fi nd myself stuck much of the time. Thank you. Always enjoy your work.

Interesting video! Thanks. I hope someday you'll talk more about how to splatter. I haven't yet found a way to make it/them work.

i love to watch u play with colors and paper..well done, love it !!
Thank you so much 😀
I lke it
Thanks, Bernice!
Would like 2 C a sketchbook tour once in awhile 😅... Ann
I almost did that at the end of this video, but thought it'd be better on its own. I'll try and get that done this week.😊
Love this👏👏👏👏👏👏🇦🇺
Thanks so much, Laura!

well... there you go. Particularly in abstract, i think our styles and tastes can move around a lot, and it is highly exploratory.

@@chrisloudart excellent. Thank you so much for the reply. I’ll definitely look into getting a set.
Oh....I didn't see you put on the dotted tissue paper. I would have had you stop earlier
I could have definitely ended earlier.😊
What are you trying to say with this piece? 🤔
Good question! Any thoughts?
@@chrisloudart: No... I'm asking you as the artist; what are you trying to convey to the viewer? 🤔
