That situation wasn’t managed properly. DICE did that to themselves by missing out on inputting classic Battlefield features (ie: squad management) in the beginning of 2042’s life cycle. Of course lots of players were heated and their statements towards DICE developers were wrong but at the end of the day it’s a full circle with EA at the top. Ghost was only posting to HIS battlefield community with pure intentions of informing them.

And usually the favoured creators in those 'networks' will happily say and promote whatever they're told to by those same games publishers in return for some special treatment, invites, favours, gratuities or straight up cash.. creators are seen by games publishers as a cheap resource to be _used,_ nothing more 🤷🏻♂️

Once that Dead Space crossover event launched, is the moment I knew the next BF will be a disaster as well. Brother, give Arma Reforger a shot if you want something more chill and haven't already. The Conflict game mode is a lot of fun on modded servers. It is an Arma game, but it has this weird charm to it that really reminds me of the old Battlefield games. Like, Battlefield 2 and 1942. Oh, and turn "environment quality" to low. It's a testbed sort of game for Arma 4 so optimization isn't 100% a priority and that setting will kill your frames for no reason.
Agreed. I've been playing battlefield since 1942. I was too young to be any good, but I poured my life into bf2. If the new BF is another 2042, I hate to say i might give up hope on the series. It used to be the best.
I did not buy BF5 or BF2042 but played about 50 hours of both. If EA does not hit the mark on this next game, then I think that will be it for the franchise for me. It's pretty simple. Just make BF3/4 the blueprint for the next game.
The next Battlefield game will be another case where all these devs from different studios all have different visions for the game and no real direction. It will be another disaster(I hope I'm wrong) of a game. Highly doubtful 1000+ devs working on the game are all gonna agree on the same design choices. I'm not pre ordering this time either and am gonna wait awhile after release. Not getting burned like I did with 2042 again, screw that.

I don't need a live service. I don't need "lot's of content". I want Battlefield 1 or 3 or 4 or Bad Company 2 - a game with immaculate atmosphere, with core mechanics, 16-24 well designed multiplayer maps (that I am happy to pay for some as DLC) and gameplay precision crafted to multiplayer AND NOTHING ELSE. I want good matchmaking. And I want good server support for 5 years. That's it. Dangling superb talent like Vince Zampella (of COD4 and MW2 fame even before Titanfall) and making nonbinding promises about being "all in" for the "fans" isn't cutting it for me when traditional Battlefield is no longer the focus. EA tried to have it's cake and eat it with BFV and 2042 and failed - BR, extraction and multiplayer cannot work off the same gameplay mechanics set. Andrew promised a "stable profitable live service" to investors, not a multiplayer game that sold zillions of copies. It's over. The writing is already on the wall. RIP traditional Battlefield, you were born in 1942 and died in 1918. The new game will wear the skin of Battlefield, but little else.

I also wholeheartedly disagree they need a BR. Knowing EA, it will consume the majority of their resources and MP will be put on the backburner just like Call of Duty. It'll give them am excuse to sell overpriced bundles because its FTP. I'm still upset they wasted the resources on Hazard Zone when they could have canned that early on and spent more time on multiplayer/Portal. I don't see anything good coming from a BR with EA and BF...
By returning to roots we just want bare minimum, battlefield was always known to bring new thing to game, like destruction which is awesome and because of this it's not like they should do a restyle of btf 3 or idk and call it a day. Innovate but give us og players what we expect: content, no specialists or heroes, not cringe skins or voices, good controls, vehicles and weapon balance, be closer to the community and streamers etc..
Tried to make myself pick up 5 and 2042 during the summer sale but just couldn't be bothered. They'll be shutting down the 3 and 4 servers before long to force everyone into the new crap and myself and thousands of other old timers will just never play BF again...

I don't think the next will be good. If we don't look at the quantity of content in BF2042. The quality is disapointing, I can't say that BF2042 had one great map or at list good one. The best it did is okay map. The animations are not on par with CoD or other AAA games, limited time events where like a mode made by a group of teenagers than a big AAA studio. I'm afraid no one at DICE knows how to do a Battlefield anymore. I hope I'm wrong, but I know fo sure, I'm not going to buy the next BF till I see the first season. Till this day I feel like I was scamed by DICE. (Don't forget the first 6m of ZERO content).

(because the storm is gonna eat that cover and you’re gonna run outta ammo before destroying everything in theory) Why show us “next level/ never before seen destruction demos” for 2042 before its release and that massive cliff (seen in a 2042 trailer 00:20) if it’s not in the game? I know the answer but just trying to open peoples eyes here. Edit: if the next battlefield is gritty with great destruction, game modes & map designs I’d be surprised at this point but happy and gain a little faith in battlefield again.. I want grapple hooks like seen in battlefield hardline not like the ones seen in apex or 2042/ spiderman……
Next Battlefield wishlist: -Story Mode -Multiplayer Where player can choose to not play with pc/console players against their own wishes. -The usual game modes such as Tdm, Conquest, Rush, both Air and tank superiority, Gun game. That might be it... 😂 -No unneccessary game modes which bleed players from the "main" game modes servers. 2042 had way too many with portal... -Absolutely great map desings with clear boundaries. A Conquest map can be too big already, make them smaller. Meeting enemies in a smaller map makes the game feel more challenging after all. -Spawn killing = instant ban for 24 hours. Spawn killing was a huge problem even in Bf3 and Bf4, it still happens in Bf2042. So basically more versatile Spawn points for Each and every map required. -Vehicle and weapon balancing where no vehicle and no weapon is useless. The nerfing has gone too far making basically 5/6 weapons useless against the enemy, even the grenades are not sure to kill an enemy and neither are missiles in bf2042. -No specialists, futuristic bulls..., seasons, bundles, skins, etc collectibles that can't be earned by playing or doing a set of missions. Those missions can be Hard or feel like a huge amount of grinding. I loved a challenge during Bf3 and Bf4 why wouldn't I Love it now? -Include weapons, vehicles and especially the Bf3 dog tag system Where the player can earn or open certain stuff by actually grinding. I earned the X-bow back then and I stabbed over a thousand players to get all of those dog tag pictures open back in Bf3. I loved doing it, and I would do it again in Each and every Battlefield if the dog tag system was still there. I want to earn those cool looking dog tags again and have other people see what dog tags I have when I kill them. A huge grind that gave a great feeling of accomplishment back then. I need it back. -Anything else come in mind? Tell me, I'll give you my views of your ideas for the new Battlefield. 😊
Putting an extraction or Royale game mode in BF is a big mistake. BF doesn't need modes like that to stay relevant or attract new players. People are attracted to BFs unique multi-player experience and destruction. BF failed with firestorm and Hazard zone they were both dead on arrival and huge waste of resources. The failure of 2042 is opening the door for other games to fill BFs spot like Delta Force.
its good they're adding a battle royal. Battle royals are very popular game modes, look at fortnite or apex. Not only that, battle royal is a way to give us new game modes instead of the usual conquest ppl play. They should keep portal in the next game as its a fun game mode

In my eyes, Battlefield 1's atmosphere was perfect; When I played that game a few years ago, it felt like the game knew exactly when to time it's jokes while also knowing the perfect timing to quiet down and simply show the horrors of World War I. In my eyes, that kind of style can work perfectly with future Battlefield games.

Funny Enough Halo didn't even succeed some time after 2042 was being fixed due to their own issues. It was seen as an issue to EA because it was a Big launch and was more stable than 2042 or COD MWII at the time. EA only knows short term gains and care less about their long term issues.
The idea I’m still concerned about is that EA wants to still commit to trends instead of focusing on the general battlefield experience first. Creating a battle Royale takes a decent amount of resources and time away from the general multiplayer and single player experience. Look at what happened to Portal, Firestorm, and Hazard Zone. They were all abandoned soon after launch because the general games (BFV and 2042) were utterly garbage and broken and were never given their time to shine as DICE had to pull their resources to another game. EA needs to stop focusing on getting players from other communities/trends to join Battlefield but should focus on what the original fans want during development time. It is when the game RELEASES and when bugs are FIXED is when EA should think about creating a battle Royale.
since i'm currently able to play Delta Force Alpha test, i'm acutally looking forward to it's full release. it's basically what BF 2042 should've been, the game is better than i expected so far. i think Delta Force could really put some pressure on DICE to deliver a propper Battlefield game again!

It has its flaws and there’s not much to do after getting to level 60 but it’s still a fun game and you can have plenty of fun”battlefield moments” the devs just fumbled early on in its life cycle and they were never able to recover it, if they went back to bf4 style of modern combat with each class having specific roles and weapon selections I believe they could somewhat save the franchise

Now, I'm the BF3 and onward generation that's looking back on the games I've played critically (in reality, I really only played BF4 and 1) and shitting on the BF1 and onward generation.

The only battlefield I didn't buy since BF 1942 was BF hardline. I was pissed with the release of bf4, I went nuclear with the controversy surrounding the responses from EA and Dice regarding BF 1. And I was just sad and disappointed with BF 2042. I will NOT pre-order, I will NOT buy the game on day one, I WILL wait, as much as it's hurts to see if it's eny good and not react to the hype train
They don't need a battleroyal to pay employee stop with that it's the vision they want you to think and also a trend that is actually not working anymore. Of course they can make one that work but they failed two times and since Warzone no other made a battleroyal that work, they are already struggling making a bad game so if they have divided the team to try to make a good one... good luck.
All I care about, is DICE listening to the core Battlefield playerbase, they take serveys for a reason, they need to look at their data and act on it. I get they have to adapt the formula for modern audiences, but they can't lose the core identity, take Battlefield back to the style of Battlefield 3/4. This is the easiest BF game they ever have to make, take the map design of BF3, vehicles, gunplay and weapon customisation of BF4, atmosphere and visual fx of BF1, movement of BF5, there done. If BF must have a BR, literally revamp Firestorm and re release that free to play. As a mode, Firestorm was actually pretty fun, I normally hate BR but enjoyed it a bit, the mode just suffered lack of support. DICE don't need to waste time gambling at a new attempt at a trend mode when they already have an existing one that is pretty good, just needs an overhaul.

The current BF playerbase is scarce and all over the place with what they want. No one is gonna pick up Battlefield in 2025 based on regular 64 player Conquest. DICE need to lure people into the BF formula by adding something familiar to the wider FPS audience. Look at Delta Force, they're having an extraction mode which has brought a lot more eyes to Delta Force than if it was just a simple BF copy paste mode and nothing more. I don't want BF to go the trend chasing direction again, but in reality they have to, it's the only way to get this new game in the wider market.
2042 has been nothing but the time waste of the century. So much time has been spent on fixing and patching a product that still is broken and boring. I had hope for this game at the beginning of its life, but that hope was killed by DICE over the course of 2042s life cycle. Disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. Lies and borderline false advertisement. The frickin skins and bundles being pushed down our throats while we get no new content. If they cant get the next game right, then its time to let this franchise go.

No one knows what is a great BF title anymore. Everyone has a different opinion. Traditionally it is a LARGE scale vehicle/combined arms infantry game. The new generation doesn't seem to like that. As a BF veteran how can you like maps like Reclaimed, Redacted, Haven, or Stadium? Battlefield officially became 'rock music' not popular anymore, everybody wants to listen to rap crap. I would like if the next BF would have a free BR mode with the excellent BF shooting mechanics and vehicles included. The reason I couldn't play warzone is the crappy gunplay, very long TTK, god awful gun sounds, no vehicles and the stupid plates in the chest. My idea for the next BF : HUGE maps like the original Hourglass, a free BR and free extraction mode included with no pay to win aspects. Let the kids buy the stupid cosmetics and pay the devs. Thank you kids, looking forward to a great next BF.
No doubt the release was more than awful. Even thought it never completely recovered I really enjoy 2042. My only problem with it now is the lack of maps and grittiness. I know BF can be better but the level of toxicity toward 2042 reached new heights. Players that dont even play BF say 2042 sucks. It was impossible for Dice to turn it around. The damage was done and the next game better be good and polished at release because the franchise may not survive.
And why do you think even the players who didn't touch 2042 say it sucks? Because it made even Battlefield 4's legendary disaster of a launch look small by comparison.
I seriously just don't see a point in spending so much money on a game that is most likely going to be shit when I can look forward to playing a free game which I know is gonna be so fun like delta force.

I did not buy BF5 or BF2042 but played about 50 hours of both. If EA does not hit the mark on this next game, then I think that will be it for the franchise for me. It's pretty simple. Just make BF3/4 the blueprint for the next game.
Nothing beats BF3/4. We've been waiting for YEARS for a similar BF experience. BF3 was the most fun Ive ever had in a multiplayer game.

The next Battlefield game will be another case where all these devs from different studios all have different visions for the game and no real direction. It will be another disaster(I hope I'm wrong) of a game. Highly doubtful 1000+ devs working on the game are all gonna agree on the same design choices. I'm not pre ordering this time either and am gonna wait awhile after release. Not getting burned like I did with 2042 again, screw that.

I want Battlefield 1 or 3 or 4 or Bad Company 2 - a game with immaculate atmosphere, with core mechanics, 16-24 well designed multiplayer maps (that I am happy to pay for some as DLC) and gameplay precision crafted to multiplayer AND NOTHING ELSE. I want good matchmaking. And I want good server support for 5 years. That's it.
Dangling superb talent like Vince Zampella (of COD4 and MW2 fame even before Titanfall) and making nonbinding promises about being "all in" for the "fans" isn't cutting it for me when traditional Battlefield is no longer the focus.
EA tried to have it's cake and eat it with BFV and 2042 and failed - BR, extraction and multiplayer cannot work off the same gameplay mechanics set. Andrew promised a "stable profitable live service" to investors, not a multiplayer game that sold zillions of copies.
It's over. The writing is already on the wall. RIP traditional Battlefield, you were born in 1942 and died in 1918. The new game will wear the skin of Battlefield, but little else.
Cod and battlefield are both too big to succeed anymore. The people who made the games we love from 10+ years ago are gone. They've been replaced with suits and diversity.

I also wholeheartedly disagree they need a BR. Knowing EA, it will consume the majority of their resources and MP will be put on the backburner just like Call of Duty. I'm still upset they wasted the resources on Hazard Zone when they could have canned that early on and spent more time on multiplayer/Portal. I don't see anything good coming from a BR with EA and BF...

By returning to roots we just want bare minimum, battlefield was always known to bring new thing to game, like destruction which is awesome and because of this it's not like they should do a restyle of btf 3 or idk and call it a day. Innovate but give us og players what we expect: content, no specialists or heroes, not cringe skins or voices, good controls, vehicles and weapon balance, be closer to the community and streamers etc..
If warzone is any indication, a successfull BF battle royale would be a death sentence for the main games.
Tried to make myself pick up 5 and 2042 during the summer sale but just couldn't be bothered. They'll be shutting down the 3 and 4 servers before long to force everyone into the new crap and myself and thousands of other old timers will just never play BF again...

The quality is disapointing, I can't say that BF2042 had one great map or at list good one. The best it did is okay map.
The animations are not on par with CoD or other AAA games, limited time events where like a mode made by a group of teenagers than a big AAA studio.
I'm afraid no one at DICE knows how to do a Battlefield anymore. I hope I'm wrong, but I know fo sure, I'm not going to buy the next BF till I see the first season. Till this day I feel like I was scamed by DICE. (Don't forget the first 6m of ZERO content).

Next Battlefield wishlist:
-Story Mode
-Multiplayer Where player can choose to not play with pc/console players against their own wishes.
-The usual game modes such as Tdm, Conquest, Rush, both Air and tank superiority, Gun game. That might be it... 😂
-No unneccessary game modes which bleed players from the "main" game modes servers. 2042 had way too many with portal...
-Absolutely great map desings with clear boundaries. A Conquest map can be too big already, make them smaller. Meeting enemies in a smaller map makes the game feel more challenging after all.
-Spawn killing = instant ban for 24 hours. Spawn killing was a huge problem even in Bf3 and Bf4, it still happens in Bf2042. So basically more versatile Spawn points for Each and every map required.
-Vehicle and weapon balancing where no vehicle and no weapon is useless. The nerfing has gone too far making basically 5/6 weapons useless against the enemy, even the grenades are not sure to kill an enemy and neither are missiles in bf2042.
-No specialists, futuristic bulls..., seasons, bundles, skins, etc collectibles that can't be earned by playing or doing a set of missions. Those missions can be Hard or feel like a huge amount of grinding. I loved a challenge during Bf3 and Bf4 why wouldn't I Love it now?
-Include weapons, vehicles and especially the Bf3 dog tag system Where the player can earn or open certain stuff by actually grinding. I earned the X-bow back then and I stabbed over a thousand players to get all of those dog tag pictures open back in Bf3. I loved doing it, and I would do it again in Each and every Battlefield if the dog tag system was still there. I want to earn those cool looking dog tags again and have other people see what dog tags I have when I kill them. A huge grind that gave a great feeling of accomplishment back then. I need it back.

Putting an extraction or Royale game mode in BF is a big mistake. BF doesn't need modes like that to stay relevant or attract new players. People are attracted to BFs unique multi-player experience and destruction. BF failed with firestorm and Hazard zone they were both dead on arrival and huge waste of resources. The failure of 2042 is opening the door for other games to fill BFs spot like Delta Force.
its good they're adding a battle royal. Battle royals are very popular game modes, look at fortnite or apex. Not only that, battle royal is a way to give us new game modes instead of the usual conquest ppl play. They should keep portal in the next game as its a fun game mode

That raw BF3 atmosphere was peak. Felt so tactile and rough.
In my eyes, Battlefield 1's atmosphere was perfect; When I played that game a few years ago, it felt like the game knew exactly when to time it's jokes while also knowing the perfect timing to quiet down and simply show the horrors of World War I. In my eyes, that kind of style can work perfectly with future Battlefield games.

Let's hope the management can navigate these issues and deliver a game that lives up to the hype. but its EA...i literally have 0 expectations from next Battlefield..which i hope its not toooooo much And let’s not forget Battlefield 2042 launched without a scoreboard! Funny Enough Halo didn't even succeed some time after 2042 was being fixed due to their own issues. It was seen as an issue to EA because it was a Big launch and was more stable than 2042 or COD MWII at the time. EA only knows short term gains and care less about their long term issues.

The idea I’m still concerned about is that EA wants to still commit to trends instead of focusing on the general battlefield experience first. Creating a battle Royale takes a decent amount of resources and time away from the general multiplayer and single player experience.
Look at what happened to Portal, Firestorm, and Hazard Zone. They were all abandoned soon after launch because the general games (BFV and 2042) were utterly garbage and broken and were never given their time to shine as DICE had to pull their resources to another game.
EA needs to stop focusing on getting players from other communities/trends to join Battlefield but should focus on what the original fans want during development time.
It is when the game RELEASES and when bugs are FIXED is when EA should think about creating a battle Royale.

It has its flaws and there’s not much to do after getting to level 60 but it’s still a fun game and you can have plenty of fun”battlefield moments” the devs just fumbled early on in its life cycle and they were never able to recover it, if they went back to bf4 style of modern combat with each class having specific roles and weapon selections I believe they could somewhat save the franchise
I feel like a Bethesda fan where I only recently saw the pre-Frostbite era gamers coming out of the woodworks to shit on the Frostbite era games starting from BF3 and onward. Now, I'm the BF3 and onward generation that's looking back on the games I've played critically (in reality, I really only played BF4 and 1) and shitting on the BF1 and onward generation.

I disagree. I think the true decline is after BF1. That game still felt like a proper BF and it started to spiral downwards after a lot of senior devs left DICE once BF1 launched.

The only battlefield I didn't buy since BF 1942 was BF hardline. I was pissed with the release of bf4, I went nuclear with the controversy surrounding the responses from EA and Dice regarding BF 1. And I was just sad and disappointed with BF 2042.
I will NOT pre-order, I will NOT buy the game on day one, I WILL wait, as much as it's hurts to see if it's eny good and not react to the hype train

I have tried to play 2042 so many times but the game just feels empty with no soul and full of emotionless bots
All I care about, is DICE listening to the core Battlefield playerbase, they take serveys for a reason, they need to look at their data and act on it. I get they have to adapt the formula for modern audiences, but they can't lose the core identity, take Battlefield back to the style of Battlefield 3/4. This is the easiest BF game they ever have to make, take the map design of BF3, vehicles, gunplay and weapon customisation of BF4, atmosphere and visual fx of BF1, movement of BF5, there done. If BF must have a BR, literally revamp Firestorm and re release that free to play. As a mode, Firestorm was actually pretty fun, I normally hate BR but enjoyed it a bit, the mode just suffered lack of support. DICE don't need to waste time gambling at a new attempt at a trend mode when they already have an existing one that is pretty good, just needs an overhaul.

The current BF playerbase is scarce and all over the place with what they want. No one is gonna pick up Battlefield in 2025 based on regular 64 player Conquest. DICE need to lure people into the BF formula by adding something familiar to the wider FPS audience. Look at Delta Force, they're having an extraction mode which has brought a lot more eyes to Delta Force than if it was just a simple BF copy paste mode and nothing more. I don't want BF to go the trend chasing direction again, but in reality they have to, it's the only way to get this new game in the wider market.
2042 has been nothing but the time waste of the century. So much time has been spent on fixing and patching a product that still is broken and boring. I had hope for this game at the beginning of its life, but that hope was killed by DICE over the course of 2042s life cycle. Disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. Lies and borderline false advertisement. The frickin skins and bundles being pushed down our throats while we get no new content. If they cant get the next game right, then its time to let this franchise go.

No one knows what is a great BF title anymore. Everyone has a different opinion. Traditionally it is a LARGE scale vehicle/combined arms infantry game. The new generation doesn't seem to like that. As a BF veteran how can you like maps like Reclaimed, Redacted, Haven, or Stadium? Battlefield officially became 'rock music' not popular anymore, everybody wants to listen to rap crap. I would like if the next BF would have a free BR mode with the excellent BF shooting mechanics and vehicles included. The reason I couldn't play warzone is the crappy gunplay, very long TTK, god awful gun sounds, no vehicles and the stupid plates in the chest.
My idea for the next BF : HUGE maps like the original Hourglass, a free BR and free extraction mode included with no pay to win aspects. Let the kids buy the stupid cosmetics and pay the devs. Thank you kids, looking forward to a great next BF.

No doubt the release was more than awful. Even thought it never completely recovered I really enjoy 2042. My only problem with it now is the lack of maps and grittiness. I know BF can be better but the level of toxicity toward 2042 reached new heights. Players that dont even play BF say 2042 sucks. It was impossible for Dice to turn it around. The damage was done and the next game better be good and polished at release because the franchise may not survive.
And why do you think even the players who didn't touch 2042 say it sucks? Because it made even Battlefield 4's legendary disaster of a launch look small by comparison.
