Great vid! We were behind no. 2102 in coach 560 yesterday, and we chased her to Tunkhannock and back for the June ramble- I can confirm I am in at least one shot!
I had no clue you were that guy standing there on Oak Street! That was me in the gray hoodie up on the embankment at 24:34! I would've said hi if I knew it was you haha
Car 210 great day, the engine had a fuss fit In pitston right before leaving, the injector ball got stuck and almost sprayed every one around the engine with steam and piping hot water. Kinda scary but cool at the same time to see a old issue come alive again
A lot of scenic railways operate steam and in the 90s and early thousands BNSF contracted Milwaukee road 261 and Frisco 1522 a lot. Plenty of steam around
NS had steam excursions again from Sept. 2011 to May 2017 but now they don’t want to bother with excursions again. They are probably afraid of the liability. They will escort 765 and 611 though to other railroads. CSX doesn’t seem to be interested at all. The new CPKC ran the Empress to Mexico, but so far no public excursions. There was supposed to be one in Silvis, IL over the Iowa Interstate but it got canceled. And Amtrak banned excursions in March 2018 making excursions on BNSF impossible. Amtrak insurance was cheaper. 261 has regional freight railroads to run on out of Minneapolis.
Does 2102 have the whistle that was on 2124 when it was in Ramble service? I realize that the T-1's were all originally equipped with the hooters that 2100 had in ramble service. Just noticed that at 2:59 it has a hooter too!
The grade is not constant between Mountain Top and Pittston, and since the train brakes are direct release vs graduated release, not having dynamic braking would make train handling exceedingly difficult.
He was definitely a bad actor here. Him and his group showed up to that spot right before the engine showed up and stood right in front of that other man who’d staked out that spot ahead of time. He yelled at them, and they sort of moved, but not really, so when the older gentleman panned with the engine, he stepped around in front of the kid’s tripod mounted cellphone, which is what triggered the conniption. This is honestly why I generally try to stay away from groups of people on these outings.
Awesome video! I chased that train from Nesquehoning to White Haven yesterday.
Awesome filming! My wife and I were on this ride! 😃

And here I thought Union Pacific was the only one that was operating a steam train and there’s a lot of train enthusiasts

Great video! What did you use to stabilize your camera during the pacing shot?
My arm
I have a question? Why were there two diesels at the front?
And is it on the mainline? Just wondering? Anyway AWESOME VIDEO

Something with brake tests
No, again, read the description
@@FanRailer Ah so it’s the dynamic brakes downhill to Pittston, thought it was something about a dynamic brake test since I was on the train yesterday

What if 425 comes back and leads 2102 on a 3rd time doubleheader steam excursion from Reading Outer Station to Tunkhannock in the future one day?
Very unlikely. For a Reading to Tunkhannock ramble to work, it'd probably have to be a one way trip.
But, perhaps a doubleheader from Nesquahoning or Jim Thorpe to Tunkhannock could work.
Where do you get on at ?
I see myself in some lmfao
Buff freakout 26:25
Saw him all over that day he seemed to be short tempered

@@FanRailer I noticed he also didn't mind walking right in front of another person filming as he huffed away. Classy dude lol
