I love how informative he is in this video and would love to see other easy project builds from him. I can’t wait to try building my own headboard! Thank you both. ❤️
He is awesome! Explained everything well without making the inexperienced woodworker feel overwhelmed or dumb. Gonna try and make this for my full sized bed.
This is great. I would like to see y’all install that headboard on a frame. I’m pretty sure I could do it but I’d love to see if Dan has any good tips and tricks for that.
Excellent explanations! A lot of DIY project videos don’t explain what they’re doing and assume you already know. Or they skip a lot of important steps.
My daughter and husband made this headboard for me! It turned out great! We added another board on top of the headboard to make it a little more decorative and have some depth! Thank you very much! Lunenburg NS Canada!
I think I will make that, but, I will put a top shelf, and install two lights partway down on the front, each side a light, both sides. I really like that. Thank you Ashlyn.
Knocking off the sides of each board with table saw gave me a headboard with no space between each one, DIY stores are notorious for lumber with an uneven edge...🤦🏻♀️ but I wanted my horizontal boards to be cedar so I used 'd. fir' 2x4 then cedar as my main part of the headboard, and I stand each board a diffrent color stand (Early American, Golden Pecan, aged barrel, dark walnut) very cool and easy, I made it 63" wide by 60" tall. I used dowel finish to fill all screw holes. I adore the end result, I'll be starting my second one tomorrow and I'll figure out something different to do
Love the tutorial! I plan on making this for my new place but I am going to make the top 2x4 65" so that there is a 1" overhang on either side, thanks for the inspiration :)
Instead of using the 1x6 common pine boards use shiplap. That's what I'm going to do. I'm painting the frame part (2x4s) white and using prestained (gray) shiplap found at HD.
Jesus. 2018 and women are still saying "So even girls can do this?" 🤦🏻♀️ My mother was a cabinet maker for 16 years until carpal tunnel and tendonitis forced her into doing office work, but she worked her ass off and still does. Women can do anything men can do and more.
I just built it, and honestly I’d at least go with 4x4 for the legs. Not a whole lot of stability with the dimensions they gave even if you put hardware on and connect to bedrails and a footboard.
I love how she said it was “reclaimed wood” and then he talks about buying it at Home Depot or whatever. 😆 Also, quit it with the “even girls can do this.” 😒😒
The reclaimed wood part... no not really. Just amusing to me so I commented. The “even girls can do this” part... ABSOLUTELY YES. It matters because it is indicative of a culture that doesn’t value women as equally qualified and equally able. They think they are being funny, but it is just another instance of the “little woman” ideology that is harmful in today’s world. It matters to women and should matter to men who don’t share that ideology.
If this video was made in 1996 .. maybe. But the 2×6 boards alone cost 40. Btw. ... also. Screws cost 8 dollars alone. A couple 2×4s cost 8 dollars. Smh.
Notice, he didn’t say it, and how uncomfortable it made him. He tried to ignore her rude comment, then she pressed him for an answer. I’m an old white guy, and I saw that!
Jeff Wallace Yes, women have become so accustomed to these kinds of ideas that sometimes we perpetuate them. It is fully engrained into the female psyche in so many ways. Fortunately, we are really making some strides to change this.
The best head board tutorial I have seen 🤩😎
Dan is a wonderful teacher!
I left 1/4" gap between boards, and the result was infinitely better!

He is awesome! Explained everything well without making the inexperienced woodworker feel overwhelmed or dumb. Gonna try and make this for my full sized bed.
Finally. Someone who has the comic sense of including the measurements of the materials needed. Thank you.

This video is freaking Awesome!! Thank you! Going to build this for my wife

Very good teacher
He gives good tips

Thanks guys. Great tutorial This looks fantastic. I also love the white wash look. I'm going to try my hand at making one of these. 🙂
This is such a great tutorial and I love the look of the finished wood!

Wow! This came out beautiful! Dan is awesome! Hope to see more DIY's: 😊🌼💕Joanie
ha! just after you said "girls can do this" you went a little crazy with the drill Ashlyn!🌞 xxx Great result, I am definitely going to try this.
I just made this headboard today, thank you for sharing and posting the measurements. :)
Love this! I would love to see how you styled your bed with your new headboard. Maybe a new bedroom Tour?
Its actually not for me!! But maybe someday I'll use one for my house!
Any chance you can give the measurements for a standard king? Thanks!! Love the vid = )
Oh wow! I love the look of that headboard
Love the tutorial! I plan on making this for my new place but I am going to make the top 2x4 65" so that there is a 1" overhang on either side, thanks for the inspiration :)
Great video! I think I missed it but, where and when do you use the 1 piece of door skin 62x32.
What changes would I need to do if I wanted to add lights...I dont want to pinch the wiring on the back. Is there a way to make spacers
I would like to make this-do you have the measurements for full size?
I loved this! I will definitely be making one for my lake house. Dan Rocks! =)
Thank you Ashlyn, wonderful !!!
He's so talented!! great job buddy 👍👍
How long for king headboard? ♥️ I got it! At end of video! Cute!!!
Well Pooh! Where I live this will cost $90. I’m ok with that :)
I’m on it! Thank you for sharing!
Excellent piece! I just started my own channel. I subscribed to yours because of your great content!
Love to learn how to do things like this, thanks for sharing..
Love it! It's so pretty, and I'm jonesing to make one for my guest bedroom. I'd come out and visit his store if I wasn't on the opposite coast! :)
Awesome I need to do this
hey, can you please tell how did you white wash stain the headboard? stain brand that was used? Thanks!
Looks great. any plans for a kind size?
How did you attach the top piece? It goes from one frame with it not on it to the next on it. Thanks!
This dude is Awesome!
he is!! I need to do another one with him soon.
Definitely making this for my new place!! 😊
Awesome video! What would the measurements be for a twin size?
measure the twin mattress frame you have!
Where does the 62x32 door skin come in at? Maybe I missed that part?
Love, love, love ❤️
Love it! But, my wife loves ship lap. Could I use this design but then cover it with shiplap? If so, how would I do that
Instead of using the 1x6 common pine boards use shiplap. That's what I'm going to do. I'm painting the frame part (2x4s) white and using prestained (gray) shiplap found at HD.
Just tell her it’s shiplap. The surface looks the same.
Good job guys! 💕🔝
Great job!!Big like for you👍👍😉
Great tutorial :) what measurements for a king size please??
Luv it! Great video!
Love this !!
Very Nice 👍👍
How much wood would I need to make a king size bed head board?
What size wood screws do I buy?
This is wonderful! Thanks for sharing this.
Hey! I can do that! Thanks!!
What would be the dimensions for a full sized bed?
What r the messurements for a full size headboard
Can you please advise how you stain this wood in white?
It would be so much easier using a impact driver for driving screws into woodwork, it will prevent cam-out and damaging the screws. Nice project....!
I am going to make this for a guest room. I wonder if I can spray paint it? I do have a sprayer. Anyone?
Avery R I’m sure you can spray it!
Can I get all the exact board sizes for a full size head board?
What products did you use to white wash this?
Hello,
I actually made this headboard. When I attached it securely to the medal frame it was very wobbly. How do I fix this issue? Please help!
Jasmine Coffman is it pushed up against the wall securely? Where're is it wobbly? I can ask Dan if he has any suggestions...
Well it will but there is a wooden floor trim and so there is a small space and it will bang on the wall if you bump the bed?
what size screws were used?
I want to make this... Man in 5 years, lumber has more than doubled 😭
What’s the king dimension?
Jesus. 2018 and women are still saying "So even girls can do this?" 🤦🏻♀️ My mother was a cabinet maker for 16 years until carpal tunnel and tendonitis forced her into doing office work, but she worked her ass off and still does. Women can do anything men can do and more.
Maybe a sofa table DIY tutorial.
I wonder what kind of screws were used.
Melissa Erial I think they were just normal screws. Long enough to hold the two pieces of wood together.
Melissa Erial Definitely wood screws.
I'd love to see a stained version or painted like gray
Thanks. I think I can do this! (PS music with less bass would be better; the bass came through SO LOUD when I was listening later in the evening.)
All girls can do this 😉
Thank you.
Reverse psychology? I like it.
I just built it, and honestly I’d at least go with 4x4 for the legs. Not a whole lot of stability with the dimensions they gave even if you put hardware on and connect to bedrails and a footboard.
Anyone know the screw length?
Probably 1 1/2" 2" at the longest
Niceee!!!! :)
What is this gentleman's name and does he have a Facebook? Nice work!
Didnt show putting the top piece on. Didnt show the white wash process. Pretty big oversights
Can you make a Footboard
I thought y'all were building one od the walls for a chicken coop.
This guy appears to be related to Jimbo Fisher.
Things were a lot cheaper 5 years ago 😭 it was double this price
I love how she said it was “reclaimed wood” and then he talks about buying it at Home Depot or whatever. 😆 Also, quit it with the “even girls can do this.” 😒😒

Reclaimed wood was regarding the finish, not the actual wood itself.
Yes...easy peasy if you have a dude with tools standing by who is an expert and knows exactly what he is doing. ;)
If this video was made in 1996 .. maybe. But the 2×6 boards alone cost 40. Btw. ... also. Screws cost 8 dollars alone. A couple 2×4s cost 8 dollars. Smh.
My husband and I just made this and the wood and screws cost us 85 dollars. I still have to buy the stuff to sand and stain it. $100 project for sure.
Dan sounds like he's straight off the set of modern family
Under $100? Yes. Under $40? No. I just spent 80 bucks buying the materials for this.
Backboard seems completely unnecessary. In fact it undoes the simple asthetics of the headboard.
“Even girls can do this” - yuck!
yeah.... yikes
Right!
Then they should've
Notice, he didn’t say it, and how uncomfortable it made him. He tried to ignore her rude comment, then she pressed him for an answer. I’m an old white guy, and I saw that!

Does Dan travel lol
Wasn’t $40. More like $80 haha
