@chrisz9732 Current performance is not about overall results, pal (if you apply your theory, Liparteliani has better results than most and still has no place anymore in this elite 100kg squad) It is about the meteoric rise of Kanikovsky, confirmed by both his opponents and esteemed commentators, such as Neil Adams (who declared him "the next Olympic champion" some time ago), in the last 2 years. He would have been a "clear favorite" here for sure, and failure to acknowledge that is just being a pure partisan of others, and not an objective analysis.
WOW ! Every judoka at -100Kg will have a strong motivation for winning. Everyone is versatile and " hungry" to win the fights. Excelente point you have regarding the final! Personally ... I hope for Wolf to be in the final but it will be not easy for him. Cheers ...
-100 is probably the most open category. Lots of talent also. Im picking Wolf here, but Its not a easy choice. He looks like a judoka Who is best when it matters the most. And he has looked amazing recently so his form seems to be better and better.
I wish that the system would change in the Judo particular in Olympics. What prevents everyone from facing each other? The most points go to the final and the rest compete to reach the final
Anyone who really understands judo can see that Kanikovsky is the greatest talent and the best judoka in the world right now. The entire judo community should be ashamed that he is not in the Olympics. The best thing for him is to switch to MMA, earn a lot of money, secure his future and an easy life.
Wolf has lost to Sulamanidze as well. I wonder how Wolf is going to look, he's been pretty good this year unlike last few years, but I don't see him going all the way through. I think Turoboyev might go through Kotsoev as well.
@@JudoHighlights2015 Even in Tokyo, I remember I wasn't big fan of his performance, but the line up wasn't as strong then, now I feel like 100 is 2nd most stacked weight class (behind 81). And we've seen how crazy it was at the worlds even with some top players missing.
@JudoHighlights2015 I think he might surprise. His last encounter with Fonseca was won by him (after a gruelling GS) in Juji Gatame in the masters (i was in the front seat right above the tatami...) He has won against many of the Judokas mentioned here.
Wolf, back to back olympic champion! Glad to hear that he's on great form
"there is no clear favourite" because Kanikovskiy will not compete - good to mention! (seems I have also misspelled his name which ends in "skiy)
Kanikovsky’s results were not better than Kotsoiev’s or Sulamanidze’s

He would have been a real contender. In this moment -100kg category is not complete without him.
Kanikovsky - on BRICS games

Definitely will be an intriguing weight class to watch.
Wolf , olympic champion !

It's Kanikovsky, not Kanikovinsky!! It ends in "sky" not "insky"!
kanikovinsky
@@lefu2222222 no😅
it's russian orc actually
Nice 👍 😃
What about Peter Paltchik? He won agains Fonseca in the masters ans showed very good Judo since the last Olympics where the Israel team to Bronze.
@judo highlights - turns out i was right! :)
I'd like Korrel to go far
i think kanikovsiky would win OG if he had got permission

I think it'll be a miracle and a lot to do with the draw if Wolf wins it.

sulamanidze is the best
Your forgetting kanikofskey RUS!!
Russia is out of the Olympics, no Russian Judokas.
I find it a disappointing but, in the end, a fair decision to ban russian athletes. They do undoubtedly have some of the best judo at the moment!
How is that fair ?? It's politics
Paltchik ?
past his prime I think.
