I love this! Great job! And you picked the best month to make this because, on SEPTEMBER 29, 2022, Harry will turn 104 years old. I've been calling him each year to say Happy Birthday since he turned 100.
There aren't many cocktails from Harry Yee with recipes still readily available, but the ones that can be found are all interesting in one way or another. The Diamondhead is simple and refreshing, the Tropical Itch is gaudy and fun, and the (Hilton version) Hawaiian Eye is just plain weird. They're all worth trying and tinkering with.
The hubby loves blue drinks, I have to watch him when he's making a Mai Tai incase he tries to sneakily sub it in 😅 Thank you for showcasing this this though. I've only ever had one Blue Hawaii that was so bland, I think it was all vodka base, so I disregarded it every since. I think the Jamaican rum makes this sound pretty freakin' good
I've always thought that the most important quality in a blue curacao is that it should be blue -- because what's more fun than a blue drink? But I admit that sometimes I cut the blue curacao with Cointreau so that it actually tastes like orange liqueur. But now there's a better option. Thanks!
@@BartenderAtLarge I got a bottle of blue food coloring. I haven't made your blue curacao yet, but I added a drop to a classic margarita and produced a blue margarita that tastes like a real margarita. By the way, you're right about the staining. I got some on my fingers while opening the bottle, and it took a day and a half to disappear from my fingers.
Interesting. I might have to try this despite my inherent loathing for blue drinks. (Side note: my kid brother once said 'color doesn't matter - only the flavor does'. He was about 6 yo. So I made him a wonderful chocolate shake and put blue food coloring in it. He took one sip and walked away. Bwahahaha!!!)
Another blue Curaçao cocktail that does not sucks is the Boston iced tea, in Italy known as Angelo Azzurro 🇮🇹😄 it was the most popular in the 90s discoteca 😅
One thing if I could make a suggestion for a video? Over the coarse of the summer I started dabbling in making shrubs, but I can never seem to get the ratio of vinager correct since they always end up tasting way too vinegary
I asked Harry many questions. Mainly questions to verify/confirm the information already out on him. Harry did not get any kickback from Bols. Harry confirmed the story about him switching garnishes from a sugar cane stick to an orchid & pineapple for Blue Hawaii. (I asked the Tequila Sunrise guy the same thing when Jose Cuervo put the recipe on the bottle back in the early 1970s...nope, to that one too.) Harry told me the tourists would stick the sugar cane sticks in the ashtray, and he was disgusted by having to clean them.
Your energy is incredible. Love this channel and all the amazing drinks you teach us.
Spread the word! We are still growing, so every little bit helps! Cheers!

When I was doing research for the episode, I couldn't believe it! It must be the blue curaçao that keeps you young!
Great job ! I love your music too, it's also great. Greetings from Greece
Cheers & thanks for checking us out. Also glad to hear that you are liking the beats too!

The man is an absolute legend. His birthday is coming up this month on the 26th and he turns 104!
@@BartenderAtLarge Seems like for every Blue Hawaii made, it adds another day to his life!

Your husband sounds like a wise man! Trust me that overproof Jamaican white rum really puts the drink over the top 😍

This is like the best of both worlds! It’s the really tasty, but really blue too!

Oh man! That reminds me of a quote from next week’s episode of the Bartender at Large podcast. We talk about exactly that 🤣

I couldn’t find the recipe. Is that one similar to an Adios Motherf**ker?
@@BartenderAtLarge yes yes

This could be a really good idea. Thanks for the suggestion!

Might have to make one of those next!

You are so lucky. I would love to meet him. He seems like he would be super friendly.
@@BartenderAtLarge Beachbum asked me for his daughter's contact info. He's currently trying to get more info and young photos of Harry.
This is gold... or blue.
HAHAHA this made me LOL
