- I gave away my Mustang and you helped. Well, some of you helped. Those of you that follow me on social media that is. I cover the story in detail in the video.
Zachary Kelley is now the new owner of the Mustang. I’m very happy that it went to one of my viewers. Even more happy he was able to come and tow the car away.
I like giving away cars. I’d like to do more of it.

Guys can literally stand in a garage for hours on end staring at their cars having nothing but good conversation. That's what it's all about.
Get a 6 pack and you can make a day of it.
He's pulling it with a blazer
If he's ever wrenched on one of those, I think he'll be fine with the Mustang
Root Note-Evan i had a blazer for about 4 years. Seemed like every 12k something went wrong with it. Did two fuel pumps, injectors, intake manifold gasket, full cooling system, idler arms, cv axles, brakes a hand full of times, and valve cover gaskets, and of course many door pins. And lastly did the ball joints then a week later the suns he’ll broke in the tranny. Ended up parting it out and then went to the scrapyard
Never had one . But seen and worked on plenty. Garbage.
My local junkyard always used to keep a used transmission that fits a 96 blazer handy just for me.
Can confirm, friend of mine has a '98. He's put a lot of miles on it, and we've put a lot of hours into keeping it going. Also an engine, a transmission, two aircon compressors, hinge pins, a catalytic converter, and probably some other bits I'm forgetting. I'm still stuck on how we had to cut a hole in the damn floor to get to one of the bellhousing bolts.
Wow, didn't think this would strike a cord with so many. I had a Blazer for 6 years and to its credit it took me through college. The one I bought had a lot of new service history including basically entire front end redone. We had it on jacks all summer fixing the brakes, rust, shocks, E brake, rear diff.
We rebuilt the tranny, new leaf springs, cap, plug wires and plugs, water pump, radiator. Oh, and the front wheel bearing hubs (which are starting to go again now)
Zach should send you updates on what he does with the mustang. You could post his progress.
Kro- Man
I’ll give you the two year update now. He sold the parts he could and scrapped the rest.
@ChrisHallett83 because he isn't dead he is in witness protection going too flip on the Clinton and all the rest of the Democrats lmao
Eric it's March 19th for you, I'm coming from the future, don't shake anyone's hand I don't have time to explain.
What I really liked about this was that I normally see Eric talking about car stuff and helping everyone learn. This time round, as soon as another 'car guy' turns up, Eric was doing what all of us car guys do, "let me show this car, and then the next etc etc". Really does prove that Eric is a true "Car Guy".
Not just ANY four-eyed foxbody Mustang, but a four-eyed Foxbody Mustang that’s a NOTCHBACK and has Mercury Capri taillights! The lights themselves are worth more than anyone was asking for the shell!
the whole point of being a car guy is ti piss off BMW drivers
Jagged Ice nothing wrong with Tesla drivers. It’s bmw and Benz and Porsche drivers
He must have been glad to have that body and all he need is the power plant and transmission to put in it so he can get it on the highway. I remember the 1966 Mustang my mother had which was wonderful, but I didn't like the idea of the hood flying up on it when you least expected it. I had it to happen to me once when I was driving the car to town and the hood surprised me by flying up when I was crossing a small bridge. Fortunately for me the driver of a tractor trailer behind me was able to stop before hitting me and I was stopped before going across the yellow line on the highway.
Eric, what you did is very cool, and it's no surprise for me since you're a genuinly cool guy
I wish their were more people like you . Your good peeps
I had a 1985 Mustang. I really didnt like the Mustang body style then. Years later I ended up buying a boat load of 1974_ 1977 Mustangs. Most were the 4 cylinder with bad top end. I learned to rebuild the top ends and put them back into service. I became the guy to go to if you had a 70's Mustang with a bad engine. I lost count at how many I serviced and got back on the road. Eventually I sold off everything Mustang and got into the Mavericks. I fell in love with the straight 6 and never looked back. Mine came from Missouri and had no rust. Living in Michigan it became a classic very fast. I wheeled and dealed in many of them both 4Door and 2 door. That was in the 1990's early 2000's.
Cool, that you gave it away! These four eyed Mustangs was my high-school car. Had seven of them. Every once in awhile I think about getting another. Cheers
Should have never sold my 86gt. 5 lug, cobra brakes, cobra irs. Mild built 302 made around 100 hp over stock
Very nice of you to give the mustang away. A bundle of enjoyment for a tinkerer. Spread the happiness. By the way, the carb on my car doesn't stall when I rev it. I just have to press the accelerator once to start it cold, that closes the choke and gives the engine some gas to start, just like they were originally designed. If it hasnt been started for a week. I press the gas pedal, crank 3 seconds , press the gas pedal and start. FI is more user friendly, but carbs aren't that horrible if you know how they work.
Actually... The Mustang looks pretty good!
I hope Zachary posts the finished product one day!
Midnight Mystery At most to get it running just needs an engine transmission and probably a radiator I saw one in the back after that the rest is all cosmetic stuff
Eric! You are the man! Way to give back to the community. Best of luck Zach--let us know how you get on with your new project.
Ace camera work Brian. Garage door as the border frame, Eric’s silhouette at a low angle as the the vehicle glides away.
No special effects required, no smoke machine pluming, no distance rolling thunder needed.
Eric, That's was 1st class act. I'm staying dirty.
You're a good man, EricTheCarGuy! Thanks for making these awesome videos
He's one of those guys who's great to watch... even if cars aren't really your thing. Long live ETCG.
A mini tour of the cars and a free car in top of that? Sounds like a win in my book.
I wish i was that lucky guy. Meet the legend and hear the Fairmont would be something to be remembered for a long long time.
You know why I like Erick he didn’t just give the mustang to the guy and said here you go bye. He actually took the time to show off his vehicles talked about cars and that’s what it’s all about
Eric,
I hated that Ford Fairmont for the longest time. Especially during the onslaught of the videos, but, I have to say, it has grown on me. It is a super cool car and as a perfectionist myself I can appreciate the work you've put into it. I'm glad you like it and I'm glad it has been shared with the world.
Cheers
Hope you can pass updates along. This is probably a little out there, but what about a fan and you build. Someone who’s watched your videos and can use the information you’ve given and be by your side as your either build or repair a car. That would be kinda cool.
It would be cool, but I have so many projects lined up already, it would be some time before I could even consider it. Thanks for the comment.
I hope Peter griffin enjoys his new mustang
So what if Zack looks a bit like a cartoon character.
Public character assassination of someone you don't know and have never met is insulting beyond belief.
Shame on you.
@@assistantto007 He's just having some fun
Lois opens the door sees the mustang. Petter Griffin why’s it every time I open this door you bring home something stupid
Yep that’s who he looks like Peter griffin
@@ryans413 To the peterstang!!
One of the best videos to date.....such a stand-up guy Eric
Its nice to see 2 passionate car guy talking about cars
Hopefully he'll send you some update pictures or videos as he works on it. I talked to you about your Fairmont at the Sharonville car show a couple of years ago. You're a good dude.
HE IS a ray of sunshine ! Congrats Zach !
Good for you Eric!
Strong vibe it never sees the road again. Why so many of us car guys are more discerning when picking a buyer rather than first vome first serve ir pick a number. Im currently restoring an 82 foxbody that sat for 18 years. Hope my comment lights a fire under Zachary. Would hate for this to sit or get tossed about craigslist.
Your a good man mister. At times like today we can use goodness to help cope. I thank you buddy for keeping it real. Stay well my friend.
Awesome, man. Let's hope he'll drive back a few years from now when he's done with to show the results. Good luck Zachery!
Very kind of you Eric! Hope Zachary appreciates your gesture. Looking forward to your next projects!
You Da Man ERIC! Would love to swing past your shop someday... you're videos helped me when I was in automotive school way back in 2012... Thank you
Awesome Eric, clearly he'll have something to do while he quarantines himself in SC!
YOU ROCK , AND I HAVE BOTH . A BLAZER AND A 82 4 EYE GT 5.0 BONE STOCK SURVIVOR CAR.
Really good of you to give the Mustang away Eric. It's a bit of a let down though, as I am sure I am not the only one that was looking forward to a really budget rebuild of that car. Most of us, can't afford much, and have limited space and resources for a high end project. A rebuild that consists of refurbished salvaged yard, flea market, Ebay parts, complete with at home bodywork and paint would have been great. Maybe a future project? Take care man.
Hard to say. One of the reasons I let this go was to make room for the '51 Chevy my dad is giving me.
Nice one Eric! Best wishes Zachary!
Eric, that was brilliant, man.
Now do it again, with that other black 2 door and make me #3.
Jay JanyH I lol’ed
Oh my lord. It's been 5 years? I remember the day you got that mustang like it was yesterday. I cannot believe it's been 5 years.
Time flies while watchin' Eric the Car Guy.
Eric, that is the way to give away a project car. If somebody is willing to pay for it, they'll definitely use the money you saved them to fix the car and cover expenses towing it home.
😂 while skipping through the video I found something funny with Zack. At 6:16 he says yeah. Now double tap fast forward (10secs) on your phone and see what he says. Double tap again for a hat trick. 😉
Eric is a very nice man. Its easy to see it in all his videos.
Godspeed to the Mustang! Very generous of you, Eric! Love your channel!
I loved the look on his face when he heard he was being gifted the car instead of buying the car.
dave52732 Now the 500 can be used towards the mustang budget
Awesome congratulations
Good job Eric, that guy is going to have fun building a cool car with a cool story to tell.
Sid Walker I want Zachary to bring the mustang back to life and drive it back to Ericks shop as a follow up
@@ryans413 yep, that would be pretty cool.
You've got a big heart Eric. Thank you for sharing that!
Eric seems like a real stand up guy, aside from being tall, he is genuine and sincere unlike many RUclipsrs today.
That was so cool, giving Zachary your Mustang👍.
Man!!... i keep going back to Zach's reaction when Eric gave him the car and he says Thank you so much!! Thats was awesome!! True moment! 👍 Congrats Zach awesome video!
Awesome of you to give back! This is what it's all about man.
Cheers bro
NO WAY Zack is wearing the same shirt as me right now! That's hilarious lol.
So cool. He was really happy. Nice to see someone want to fix up that thing.
Not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss seeing that 'stang in the shop... although I may be a bit biased considering my first car was an '83 Mustang GL.
There are a few differences between that one and what I had... Mine was pumpkin orange, with a brown interior, euro spec (amber) rear turn signals, a 3.8L V6 engine & 3 speed auto trans.
Respect for giving it away, and also for getting rid of unnecesary stuff and being organized. Mustang is gone, vigors are gone, element is gone, civic is gone. Great stuff, focus on the cars that are important. I wish i could do that lol.
Best part of the video for us viewers was the rev ups.... Nice
Dunno why, but this video makes me smile. Maybe cos good actions became rare nowadays. Thumbs up on this one.
I would have loved a Fox body project - aren't many solid ones that old up here!
Just joking!
Nicely done Eric! You're a good person to be so generous 🇺🇸🏁
Well that was very nice of you to give Zach the mustang. I agree with you that it was time for it to go and I’m sure he will do something good with it. Do you know if he has a RUclips channel?
I don't think so.
Very generous of you sir. Well done.
One of the most good videos, thank you Eric, You are a very good mechanic and and excellent person. be safe.
Awesome, Eric! What a great surprise for the new owner. 👍🍻
That's Kool very nice of you
Very cool, kind & very generous Eric. I love it!
Ya that was for sure the best way to make sure someone actually come get the car when they say they could.
That was a awesome way to hook up a fan 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing Eric👍
It was heart touching to see you give away your car😍
Looking forward to some more Awesome videos👍
Hey @EricTheCarGuy you are a good guy keep going with the hard work man like your videos they're very helpful.
Very classy gesture Eric! You’re a Great guy!
Can’t wait for the Integra give aways.
That would be so much fun. Just to go and meet Eric in person and get a tour of all the cars. That alone was worth the trip.
Awesome video! Giving him the car was a great gesture on your part and I think it’s a great first Ford to have! I’ve only had one Ford, for thirty days, it too was a Ford Mustang.
Wow. I’m glad the mustang went to a good fan like him. 👍
Started at #1 and finally finished binge watching all the way to 101 !! GG my man
I was almost thinking it would be "CHRIS FIX HERE"...LOL...
Haha, and then he would be in hiding because we are never ever allowed to see him for some strange reason
don't turn the radio on too on my 1986 Scquarebody LS 6 liter truck to ear the 2 magnaflow!
You're the best Eric Cook!!
That was awesome
So nice to do this for him ... nice one Eric :)
Lucky guy Eric your the man! Free Car!
Another great video by ETCG! I enjoyed it very much.
More space for the shop!!!!!
What a great guy to get it.
Now this guy needs to start a RUclips channel and post updates on the progress of this car!
You're a good guy Eric 👌
Wow, that's so nice of you eric.. I love your cap by the way.. Hehe
I know life is tough but if you want my 2001 Camry that needs an engine you can have it, Eric. It's in decently good condition. I really want it to go to a good home. It's very special to me.
Oh how I would LOVE to be in that shop everyday!!! I sincerely hope to get to that point one day, but I'm still in my garage phase, lol.
Leslie Tolman Hat that’s not bad most don’t have a garage
That’s so awesome! And all those parts, so helpful! Maybe you can do a follow up video sometimes, would love to see how it works out for him.
That's cool man , can't wait to hear ya on the JS After Dark Show. 👍
The truck sounds great Eric. Nice work.
That's great of you to do, Eric! Great job brother!
you got the muscle guys, then you got the JDM guys. eric has it on both worlds
This is awesome! Thanks for being amazing!
That’s was cool Eric hope you took fan selfies 👍
That was so nice of you man!!
I subbed to your channel.
😎👍
Tell Zach we all wana see pics of his finished car when hes done👍👍👍👍
KT Tangos
Considering 90% of projects like that never are completed I’m going out on a limb and say there won’t be anything to update.
Very cool Eric! I now have to make it a goal of mine to do this one day when I am as cool and have fans like you!
