I think having some form of song credits would be nice for the Coney Channel... these videos have really great music tastes that aren't shared, so here's my best attempt at addressing the issue 0:00: Karin's Theme - Street Fighter V 1:43: Goomba's Greedy Gala - Mario Party 4 8:01: Let's Try - Super Mario RPG (SNES) 10:04: Wario Puzzle 1 - Mario's Super Picross 14:23: Apollo Justice ~ A New Chapter of Trials! 2013 - Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies 15:36: ??? 18:55: ??? Like Coney said, most of these choices are from the fact that love is the strongest emotion alive, and I think it's nice having that in our video games.
(Edit: desire for love is slightly stronger that avoiding reasons for fear. love is something we want and seek pushes us to function and avoidance of inciting any type of fear response is essentially clinical depression with someone being in perpetual stasis if there is a lack of a love drive. forgot to actually state that when looking at them when at the most basic/primal perspective which is bad coz that was my fulcrum) Just adding on my own thoughts as well- I've always found both Fear and Love have essentially a 50/50 split in a vacuum. (Measuring emotions with any form of logical pathway is all we've got + also massive generalisation to say 50/50 as this is different for every human and fellow creature on earth capable of experiencing these emotions- let alone factoring in mental issues, environment, body chemistry etc.) But in terms of Love or Fear winning over one another in a vacuum? I always mark it down to Love being just that tiniest bit more powerful. Love is a nice thing to feel, and fear is an a bad thing to feel at the most basic level of simply existing and why humans are the most intelligent and emotional sentient beings alive. But yeah! Narratives in every single medium always function when applying either Fear or Love as the main instigator, but holy damn can they pop off if used with nuance, respect for the feelings, and understanding all factors and ramifications. A masterful story is rare, but is one of the very few ways self-reflection and self-improvement can actually be a pallatable pill to swallow. Singed, Xandar the Lying Alien
One of my favorite things about coney's channel is that he starts making a video about one subject, and then he suddenly finds something somehow more interesting halfway into the recording and that's just the rest of the video for a bit, which is the most satisfying thing ever for my adhd brain 🧠
I'm pretty sure if James decided, _"y'know what... nah?"_ at the beginning of Silent Hill 2, he'd somehow wonder right back into the town. Once Silent Hill calls you, you're there until you learn your lesson, die, or both.
I played the Remake of Shadow of the Colossus for the first time last month and it quickly became one my favorite games of all time. It is def still good. Also Dormin (the disembodied voice) straight up tells Wander that he will have to pay a heavy price for his wish and Wander says it doesn't matter, so it's def not a random stupid decision.
Joel was told that the kid that he had been travelling with for nearly a year, someone he had gotten attached to in a fatherly way after losing his daughter to humans and not the zombies, was going to be dissected, she wasn't even going to be given a choice in the matter, to save cannibals, rapists, pedos, cults, slavers and different militias. He made the choice any father would make and saved his kid even Troy Baker(his VA) said that his perspective on the ending changed after he had a kid.
9:42 so a fun fact about that. In the American version of Megaman 7 specifically, Megaman does threaten Wily and loads his gun right in his face after the final battle. Wily does mention how he can't harm a human life and Megaman does put his arm down.
No, that's in all versions, the English translation added an extra line after he puts his gun down where he (pretty stupidly considering he is no longer aiming) continues to threaten wily until the place blows up
Sagat did not simply take pity on Dan, he just finished his own quest for vengeance, and realized that the best choice was to end the cycle of violence!
Evil Dead mentioned. As a fan it is a beauty the franchise has one staple which is don't read the fucking book and no one from 1981 or forward has learned this lesson.
Edit: How can he blame Megaman for Wily getting away? He's a robot that has to follow the 3 rules of robotics. If anything Dr Light is at fault for not programming him to kill wily And even then, i cant blame the guy for not turning his son into a killer The narrator couldnt be bothered to google the rules of robotics is all I'm learning Yeah....that narrator doesnt like fun is all I'm learning. And man the Slippy hate is crazy I like him, and i especially like that him getting hit or not is an actual branching path. And idk, people find him anmoying but i just like having him along for the ride, he's there to equal out the snarky Falco
Coney prolly won’t see this, but as I shout into the void so someone may hear: the robots cannot harm or kill a human thing originated in a story from acclaimed science fiction author Isaac Asimov. They are a work of fiction that has influenced other fiction. A robot (obv shouldn’t but) absolutely could kill a human
because why not self report my cringeness 2:13 , as usual in a franchise that there really isn't an "official" story, just a bunch a nerds fusing their headcannons together, there's like several dozen compelling reasons why the main character wants to stay at the restaurant for that long. The main one just simply being: you are just trying to find and kill your father after he second handedly cause your mutilation. Going to places he might have worked, investigating/tampering with the animatronics, etc.
bro im writing a song about being cringe right now i s2g. fucking yes dude own your cringeness, that "cringeness" is part of your story as a person and feeds you. chad behaviour to self-report, but if you do worry about it, fucken own it and be a chad again like you are right now. but no apologies.

Man I loved Star Wars Squadrons that game was real fun to play with friends, but yeah it’s player base was dead real quick to the point where if you tried to search for a match online you could only find pros.
Mojo guy after seeing an integral, character-driven moment whose consequences resound throughout the story, embodying the central themes of the game: ...Well I wouldn't do that.
The reason night guards keep coming back in FNAF 1 is actually kinda explained in the most recent book / interactive novel, “The Week Before.” Won’t spoil it, partially because I don’t remember exactly what it was lol, but also because it’s genuinely a really fun and well written CYOA book. (Also scores of others can summarize it online better than I can lol)
In Detroit Become Human, after Markus takes his little sticker-chip thing off, why doesn’t he tell literally every other android to do that so they become indistinguishable from humans
the fnaf thing isnt necessarily a retcon since we didnt get the real reason until it was basically suggested that he is michael afton, but yeah. there is an actual reason for it
I never played a lot of assassin's creed exept for origins, i love that game, but I've been pulling the assassin's creed magic the gathering cards and they are so fun I'm kinda getting into the franchise, I'm concidering getting one of the games now
1:35 that kinda sums it all up really "why did they do thing?" Because if they didn't the game/movie/etc wouldnt happen lol One night at Freddy's where you quit the second you see chica staring at the camera wouldnt be a fun horror game, would it
I always hate these lists about "dumb choices characters make" because there's only ever two types of entry: either "nah, I'd win"-ass entries where the dumb decision is basically "not just leaving in a horror game" or "not just getting over your neuroses where it comes off as extremely self-aggrandizing, and then there's the "i am very smart" entries where the "dumb decision" s basically "just don't do the thing that leads to a story, dumbass". Why did this character lie to someone they care about? Why did this character continue to fall for an obvious trick? Why didn't this character just solve the problem? Because that's not how narratives work, dumbfuck, characters need to make mistakes for a story to thrive. If you just "do the right thing" every time most stories end after four pages with "and then the hero turned around and went home".
The whole Nathan drake is a mass murder is kinda redundant. You can make that argument to a lot of characters. Without killing or beating beings there would be no game to a lot of games.
