I recently stumbled upon a graph that compared the average IQ of fans in relation to the music they liked. Jars of Clay was one of the fan bases studied and the average IQ for its fans was on the high end of the spectrum in comparison to many other artists in different genres. So with that, feel flattered. Artists such as Wiz Kahlifa had fan bases with extremely low average IQ scores. The amount of views Wiz gets verses Jars of clay show you that there are a large amount of stupid people listening to stupid music. I think the obvious is that Jars of clay get much less views because there are much less people that can truly value and comprehend their music..
Jan Kriegel They were huge in the mid-late 90's, almost as big as DC Talk was. Their first album sold 2 million copies and their second album (with this song) sold 1.6 million. That is phenomenal for a Christian rock band, most of which never even see an album of theirs sell Gold. Their popularity fizzled out over the years though because they chose to go the experimental route rather than just keep making songs that sound like "Flood" over and over. That is why they don't get many views nowadays, but they are still together and God is still making beautiful, thought-provoking music through them, and that is what matters.
Even when I was distant from God, there was something really comforting about Jars of Clay music. I always feel at home when I listen to their early stuff.
@@justanotherhuman9883amen and it's not through these false Christian closet case homosexuals. Jonathan Clay couldn't make it as a rock band so they try to put on sheep's clothing but they were a bunch of ravenous wolves. Yet in 2014 they showed their true colors.
Ah something bout the 90's man....I mean I love today's CCM/Gospel but I grew up with Jars of Clay, DCTalk, Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker, Michael w. smith, Amy Grant, Mary Mary....the freakin list could go ooooooon. I miss these childhood days so much...but thats just my nostalgia speaking, Thank God for today ^^'
I’ll admit, I’m not a regular fan of this band, but thanks to Todd in the Shadows, I found out about this song and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. Such a great bit of music.
This was one of the greatest songs for me in the 90s- 30yrs later and it’s not only still a great song bit the memories attached are priceless. How has this not been a top 10 song? Possibly poor publicity? As song was killer then and still is.
Every time I hears this song I'm reminded of the days I spent in my room playing Much Afraid on my stereo while spending hours playing Final Fantasy VII
Wow wow wow I’m 36 years old. I’ve changed my life around for the better. I’ve been rocking out to Christian rock and this band was on the playlist. Love love love this band!! And you even have music videos!! I’m going to find you on social media Xoxox thank you for being you I love your music
You're cold that way And that's why you say The things that you say You can't attract The things that you lack You're trying in vain It seems it's always the crazy times You find you'll wake up and realize It takes more than your saline eyes To make things right You spiral down You've broken your crown You don't feel like a queen You've seen the proof But you're still crying wolf You'll never believe It seems it's always the crazy times You find you'll wake up and realize It takes more than your saline eyes To make things right You try to climb a broken ladder Grip the missing rungs And fall down, down, down, down Seems some time ago you said This wouldn't last And now you sit here crying, yeah Beside your bed You feel left for dead You kneel in the dark It takes more than your saline eyes To make things right It seems it's always the crazy times You find you'll wake up and realize It takes more than your saline eyes To make things right
It's funny you should say that. I once heard an add on Christian radio that went: 'if you like this (secular artist), then you'll like (Christian artist).' The band they paired with REM was Third Day. And I thought 'Sorry but I've been listening to REM since Murmur, and Third Day's not even in the same arena. The Christian equivalent of REM is without a doubt Jars of Clay.'
Performed this song for a church thing once. Played guitar and drums several times in front of crowds, but this was my first time singing. Wish there were camera phones back then. The only person that gets to hear me "sing" these days is my girlfriend. She's still with me, so she either loves me unconditionally or my singing isn't all that bad. LOL
My guys since the 90's... "It seems, it's always the crazy times, you'll find, you wake up and realize, IT says, more than your saline eyes, to make things right..."
This takes me back to my high school days, everytime I listen to this song. *Much Afraid* is a great album from 1997. I was in my junior year when it got released.
Oh man. I can see getting mad at Christians but don't get mad at Jesus. He loves you. Life really stinks at times I know. But we can never give up our faith in Him and His goodness by the Cross, the ressurection, and our eternal destiny in Heaven.
So at one time you used to believe that Jesus was real and something changed your mind? Were you a child when you first believed in him or were you older? I am very interested to see why people leave the Christian faith. Thx
Van PastorMan I was saved at 15. was a Christian for about 10, 12 years. I started to see things differently. nothing bad happened to me. I even prayed to keep my faith. kept asking my god not to let me go. was asking other christians, pastors, deacons, whoever I could find to help me keep believing but I couldn't ignore reality. it took a couple years before I realized I didn't believe anymore. If god really knows me, he knows how my mind works. the bible wasn't enough. there are horrible things in life but also wonderful things. so to believe that god loves us and ignore the horrible things just don't add up. I'm not mad at god. I don't believe one exist. if one does its indifferent to life. it doesn't favor either side.
I grew up listening to them, and saw them twice! When I was little, theywere at Agape Christian bookstore (which I dont think we have that store anymore,) and they signed my poster, and when I when i got older, i saw them again!
The golden years of the Christian music, DC Talk, Audioadrenaline, News boys... Amazing bands, it's a shame they tagged themselves as gospel or Christian bands, all the world should have appreciated this great songs.
farout I give em a go yea aye I used to go on to the shows with bands and things and anyone who goes into the Christian rock genre and keeps their eyes on Jesus thats a winner in my book mate no matter how ya slice it God honors faithfulness its good bub :))
Almost every weekend this comes up. I'm blown away it doesn't have more views, I've seen them live countless times . They are simply amazing and I'm not even Christian. Hope they get everything they deserve.
Jars of Clay saved my life so many times growing up. This song was always on repeat when I was going thru my battles with depression and suicide. I love these guys. I keep coming back to these songs every time I need them. ❤
Although my beliefs have changed and I no longer believe in modern day Christianity, this music still invokes memories and emotions like no other. They can even bring me to tears. Really awesome music.
I always liked this song, but the video's got an even more appealing look to it. And it's a shame it takes the "crazy times" to make us wake up; we shouldn't need them, but we do.
We all have our opinions.... ;) I never found there was real depth (i.e. Love Song: I want to fall in love with you..... who?? Let's never be ashamed or afraid to mention Jesus Christ's name.
I must have... because I never heard of em Ill have ta look em up but my mum used to play dc talk and jars of clay I grew up on this stuff proud to say so bud 90s were a great time to be a kid :)) make it a good one
I will always love this band.
I really dont understand how can band like Jars of Clay have only few thousands of views. For me it is one of the best bands!!!
I agree 100%
Yes absolut!!
Never read something so true

aug 1 2024 and this still sounds good!
I’m not a Christian, but I love Jars of Clay with all my heart.
this band introduced me to Christian music and now im forever hooked and loving it
Are you a Christian?
@@S_u_n_Flower_ hey, I know you!
Me too! Well I'd heard Christian music already, but not in English. This band introduced me specifically to American Christian rock/alternative music.
I'm a hindu and I like this song. 🙄

I could be wrong but I feel like God draws us closer to him through lots of different things you know.

Check out the song Flood by Jars of Clay it's amazing

I feel exactly the same!
The old times were better truly
exactly!
Don't forget about DC Talk!!
I found God again and this band came back along with. God speed! :)
LOL same thing happened to me this year , then their song Flood ended up in my recommended.
Who's listening in 2020 because duh?
Amazing band! never gets old! Love these guys
Ive been listening to these guys since I became a Christian 20 years ago...Still my favorite Christian artists...they cannot be beat!🤗
Lol
I've been listening to this band for over 25 years. The new generations must learn
I’ll admit, I’m not a regular fan of this band, but thanks to Todd in the Shadows, I found out about this song and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. Such a great bit of music.
This song is hauntingly beautiful. It's an instant time machine to the time period when I first got saved.
Yeah it was nice music. Good luck with escaping your delusion.
These guys aren't really Christian and we shouldn't listen to them. They were advocating for LGBT! (Spit)
@MikeLOldham what do you mean?
@@MikeLOldham Jesus loves you.
As a kid I grabbed my CD and asked the DJ at our block party to play this song! Everyone loved it!

I always come back to the Much Afraid album. So many great songs. Including Crazy Times.
A mixed tape with just Jars of Clay and Dc Talk = perfect
maybe a lil Sixpence None the Richer thrown in too
They wrote this song way ahead of 2020. The real crazy times were in now
Amen to that Brother, God help Us,Jesus is the Only Hope, Be Blessed!
Hard to believe the Flood guys could follow up with this. What range.
You're cold that way
And that's why you say
The things that you say
You can't attract
The things that you lack
You're trying in vain
It seems it's always the crazy times
You find you'll wake up and realize
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right
You spiral down
You've broken your crown
You don't feel like a queen
You've seen the proof
But you're still crying wolf
You'll never believe
It seems it's always the crazy times
You find you'll wake up and realize
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right
You try to climb a broken ladder
Grip the missing rungs
And fall down, down, down, down
Seems some time ago you said
This wouldn't last
And now you sit here crying, yeah
Beside your bed
You feel left for dead
You kneel in the dark
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right
It seems it's always the crazy times
You find you'll wake up and realize
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right
Luv the song and lyric, thank you
@@donatogarcia3835 It's really good. Probs my favourite song from them so far. (I literally discovered this band like 10 mins ago)
That guitar in the middle though. This song rocks.
I love Jars of Clay, they were one of the 1st Christian bands I listened to when I got saved...
Why is this song more relevant now more than ever?
The REM of Christian music!!! And one of THE best.

Why get mad at jesus? If he was he real wouldn't matter because he's dead now. There's no reason for me to believe any of that.

Huge JOC fan! This song seems especially relevant today, in the midst of COVID craziness. Just posted it on my FB page.

I've always loved the bitterness of this song. Truth should always have an effect (affect?) On all of us.
Wow. I've liked this song since around 1999/2000, but never knew that they eventually had made a music video. Nostalgia kickin' in here too.
Love this song, love Jars of Clay, have been a fan for a while, seems I may always be.
AW man to this day this is one of my fave songs...the 90s, just had a great music vibe. This is still one of my fave mellow Christian songs.
