    At some point in this video I shoot a nail through my thumb

    rigid foam solves your condensation issue and construction adhesive would give more shear strength

      I spent the last 5 years building mansions billionaires call cottages in the snow so it's not that much of an obstacle for me really.

    Nice job! I’ve learned a lot just by watching your vids (part 1 and 2). Hope the thumb is healing up well….opposable thumbs is what’s sets us apart from the monkeys and as humans we can’t afford to lose one! Lol. Looking forward to part 3.

    Ohhh shit dude that's how it happened!!!?!! I hope you're ok, I've actually been thinking about doing something like this for a while but didn't know how it would come out lol awesome video brother 🙌 🔥 and hope that finger is ok!!

      Thumb is a little tender but other than that seems ok. Now I've got a severe brain sprain from calculating the rafters on a hip roof where a 4/12 pitch runs into an 8-1/4 / 12 pitch. Why do I have to make everything so damn complicated.

    Am I missing something? Nails not screws? No glue on the joints?

    • @roybertalotto6355
      @roybertalotto6355 Год назад +1

      nova wrap preclude s you from glueing plywood to the frame. Just a few nail holding the siding seems weak. Not sure vapor barrier is even needed.

      Nails have shear strength. Screws have tensile strength. Notice I used nails in some places and screws in others.
      Think about the type of force that's going to be put on the fastener and use the correct fastener.
      Saves money, time and swearing at sticky fingers.

      Hint. The sheathing is part of the structure.

    • @toolaholicsanonymous
      @toolaholicsanonymous  Год назад

      @roybertalotto6355 vapor barrier wouldn't have been necessary with the foam insulation if it had been sealed with acoustic sealant or spray foam.
      I hate acoustic sealant so vapor barrier is easy.
      House wrap usually goes over top of sheathing and under strapping and siding. Strapping and siding are basically decoration. Sheathing gives racking strength. It's a little unconventional the way I did it but has the same effect and saves the weight of siding.
      It does depend on what climate you're building for. Check your local building code for ideas. I built for cold and wet. Cold as in -35

      @roybertalotto6355 proper building envelope is important not just for insulation value it prevents condensation from the difference in interior and exterior temperature which will cause mold.

    i wonder what are the sizes of wood you used as frames for the camper...lateral and vertical..thankyou

      Hi it's all spruce 2x4. Although most of it is ripped down to 1.5"X1.5" because 2x2 costs about the same as 2x4. If that's not what you meant or you need metric lemme know.

      I probably could have gone with 24" centers instead of 16 and saved a bit of weight but I'm thinking the overall weight is gonna be around 500 ish pounds when I'm done which leaves me plenty of room for gear.
