I had no idea that the blade is supposed to stay on the table... I learnt how to sew in school and we weren't taught that. I see that you lift the fabric off the table a bit to cut it... and wondered if that's because the fabric is single-layered? TY for the video.. it's still making a difference 13 years later. :)
I love reading the comments that question Tom's cutting techniques. You do know that this man has made suits for The Prince of Wales and is rumoured to outfit Beckham. Having been measured for a suit by the man himself (and talked tailoring) I think he knows what he's talking about.
I'm an apprentice. i've never wanted to pick my shears up off the table.. i've always felt the cloth is easier to cut layed flat than draped between 2 blades a few inches in the air
Fourteen years later, I've just watch a master tailor at work. I hope that he's doing well and still on the job (if that's his wish).

13 years ago? Feels like a lifetime ago. I never did get a pair of those beautiful airplane cuff links and now I’m very much too late!

Excellent design and craftsmanship.

Show me cutting about the interior side of the jacket
Outstanding
you don't follow the lines when you cut the fabric....
