I am an Ohio State fan, but to try and be as objective as I can, I think hiring Moore gives them a degree of continuity with respect to their style of play and culture. I think they will contunue to prioritize both lines (Avery Gach will be committing to them soon). This year, their D should be very good and Edwards should be their RB1. On the other hand, in contrast to last year, they have a very tough pre-conference game with Texas and their schedule will be hard. Also, I am not sure how their QB situation will turn out. Just my opinion of course, but I could see them going a number of ways this year.

(as always) I have been saying this as well for years: our wide receiver room leaves much to be desired (other than one 'almost' go-to who steps up each year). People know that ND produce great pass-catching tight ends. Why? One very big reason is because our QB's have had to throw to them because our WRs can't get open.
As far as getting into the 12 team playoff? I agree with you, they need to have an 11-1 record. Bottom line.

Yes its a 12 team playoff, but every year there will only be 4-5 slots open after championship weekend. SEC/Big10/ACC/Big12 and G5 conference championship winners will get auto bids which takes away 5 slots. The SEC and Big10 championship game losers will also get in taking away another 2 slots. I think there's also a high likely hood that this year the ACC championship game loser will get in taking away 1 more slot. That leaves 4 slots left after championship weekend. I just don't see Notre Dame getting in with 2 losses this year.

Ik you’re stubborn but Colorado absolutely deserves a spot in the 20s. Best QB in CFB, best all around *player* in CFB, a completely revamped OL & defense. Shedeur would’ve been a top 10 pick in this past draft, it has potential to be like Joe Burrow in 19.
All but 2 of their losses were one score games last year, If their defense was just 10% better they would’ve gone 9-3.
I think with the much easier schedule in the big 12 they could possibly win the league and make the playoff as an autobid.

    • @A_Easley
      @A_Easley 9 месяцев назад +3

Here we go. Sheduer is good, but it’s hard to look bad when you drop back near 55 times a game (yes it was over 50. 55 drop backs is only a slight exaggeration). Travis is great but has gone 2/2 for multi week injuries in college so far. The OL did not get better. They lost any bit of chemistry with the 3 stars they had and replaced them with brand new 3 stars (outside of Seaton). They lost every bit of depth they had and didn’t replace any of it with any big names. The B12 may not be murderers row, but it does include Utah, Arizona, OSU, Kansas, and other teams like that with just as much talent and far better coaching than CU has.
Edit: I forgot to mention this. Yes they lost a lot of close games. They didn’t beat a single team with a winning record last year. They also only won close games outside of Nebraska. You sound just like Nebraska fans when they claimed for 2 years straight they were the best “X” win team in the country. Good teams find a way to win on a bad night. CU found ways to lose on their best nights.

I disagree with you doing the ranking now. You should’ve done it in the middle of May after the portal closes and things settle down mostly from transfers.
Washington is the one team who got kicked out. They were affected by the draft and also late transfers with the coaching change. Spring practice ends on Friday and Fisch said we won’t know who is on the team until mid-May. That’s why you wait a few more weeks.

I think we will see some last minute entries that are decent. Players lose leverage getting better deals jumping too early.
The plug needs to be pulled at some point. There comes a time where we can say nobody will make a difference, but we don’t know that while the portal is still open and we also have grad transfers.
I know you don’t care about G5, but the teams to watch this year to hold judgment on until later were Alabama, Michigan, Washington, and Arizona. Washington and Arizona are probably going in opposite directions. Both still need to add in the portal, but Arizona is worried about losing good guys and some to Washington: The Huskies probably aren’t looking for a bad year. They’re not 2023, but also won’t be bad.

    1) To your question about ND playing 13th game. They play 12 FBS games without a CCG. All the other teams play 11 & need that CCG to play the 12th FBS game.
    2) “Afraid to join a conference” is the oldest and most ignorant thing out there. Learn the history before making that statement.
ND had tried 3 times in history to join a conference, all 3 times they were denied (twice by Michigan).
Many, many teams want to be independent, they just can’t afford it. Many (most recently Texas), have tried and failed. Not that long ago, the best group of teams was the independents but they all couldn’t afford to stay that way.

The year before exact same thing. Essential on the road and has a chance to win with a field goal. As for the Missouri game, come on. Did you watch the game? OSU plays 80% of the game with a true freshman at QB that was no where near ready. None of these games were lost because a lack of toughness.
BTW they did tackle in the spring game. The experienced first teams didn’t tackle but the rest of the game was tackle. Why have players with years of experience tackle?

Michigan, Penn State, Ole Miss, Alabama, etc. These teams could very well have two conference losses and not make their respective conference championship games. Therefore, they’re in the exact same boat as ND. The reason ND will likely have to go 11-1 is their schedule. They can still do it at 10-2 but they will need help.
