When Burma’s got injured and recovered, he just regained fitness and was automatically back in the team. Same happened to ishant sharma, and even prasidh krishna. But Shami has to play and prove again and again because of his demographics… inspire of being #1 bowler for India in World Cup and many tournaments..
Shami has bowled 43.2 overs, a man without being 100% fit can't do that, he has taken 7 wickets and contributed with the bat as well by scoring 37 runs, so not only he has shown he is fit but there is also a good performance to back that up. It's absolutely unnecessary to play SMAT given he only gets a chance to bowl 4 overs(will not contribute enough for a test match preparation point of view) and also missing the BGT 2nd test, so it's a loose-loose situation. Instead BCCI should take him to Australia, at least he can bowl a large number of overs in net and get time to habituate with the conditions(in both the cases for playing from 3rd test Or getting an option to play from 2nd test)
Guys come on dude... He is just 34. He still has good 2 - 3 years of career if he can be injury free. Plz do not bring this thought in selectors mind that he is old and spoil his career. The same thing happened with Shikhar Dhawan when he was in his peak and unfortunately we lost a brilliant opener.
Just 34! it's very much old age for a fast bowler buddy & you're comparing him with shikhar dhawan! There are very few fast bowlees around who are that old. Shami always had an injury prone body so that makes it even difficult.
Shami is no doubt favourite but it's really a tough competition in the dressing room now a days like we have more n more players who is doing well in domestic...in such case bowlers like Shami,bumrah,siraj and arahdeep need to focus on fitness coz in T20 n 50 overs we have lot of bowlers but in test match very few r der.. good luck india
Although I know we need experienced bowlers in the Aus test series, but i also know we need our bowlers to be 100%, at their best, not half fit, half healed and another niggle comes upon during the series.

He should go before 2nd test if he clears fitness test in India. But he should be selected only from test 3 once he shows match fitness and form playing a practice match in Australia.
@@ArvindYadav-dv4wi If we play out of our skin then we can be 1-1 after 2 tests. As it is a 5 match series, we would then have to rotate our pace bowlers. So if we can get a fit and in form Shami even from 3rd test, we can have a fighting chance to win the series.
