As a native Hamiltonian (Birthplace of Tim Hortons) what you tasted possibly was a fraction of what Tim Horton's food used to be. Years ago it was exceptional now it becomes closer and closer to other fast food chains. The benefit of Tim Horton's in Canada is that as others have said they are everywhere especially here in Hamilton, You either have worked at a Tim Horton's or know someone who has if not you would be suspect of being a foreigner for most of the city you can walk a few blocks and you will find a Tim Hortons. We don't have a cheeseburger on our menu so that was a shock the fries were newly added I know recently most of Tim's renown comes from their donuts and caffeinated beverages breakfast menu items have been a welcome addition but Tim Hortons roots are in those items.

Some of the classics would be Apple fritter donuts and it's discontinued here but a dutchie donut could appeal to the British palate. The butter tarts is another old school favourite. I would expect that burger is simply a Burger King double cheese burger served at Tim Hortons as they're part of the same company.
As a former fast food burger topper, the worker might've just grabbed an extra pickle or two on the pinch from the tub and couldn't be bothered to reduce the quantity. Managers looked at average service times, not precision, so extra anything without a request is probably just going for speed.

Canadian Timmies switched coffee bean suppliers in the early 2010s. McDonalds in Canada saw this and immediately jumped on their old suppliers, then tried to saturate the market for McCafe.

What food does Canada have? Nanaimo bars and Poutine..lol. Apart from Quebec and it’s French culinary roots or First Nation food Canada has nothing, save the occasional hyper specific regional delicacy like Saskatoon Berry pie or whatever. Major cities in Canada like montreal or Toronto are known their culinary experiences but these are always ethnic restaurants serving the food of their culture. So unless you count Indian food or Chinese food made by Indians/Chinese people in Canada as “Canadian food” then tuff luck.

So, as a Canadian here are my recommendations:
Everything bagel with cream cheese is a must
    Apple fritter
Strawberry jam filled or raspberry jam filled donut (whichever one they have or both if they have both)
    Crueler (that's my fiance's favourite)
The muffins are great you can never go wrong with those and some of them are even filled with jam
Iced Capp (basically a coffee slushie and the best way to have a coffee, especially during the hot summer)
    Cake donuts, chocolate specifically.
    Enjoy!

Did you guys know that the expansion of Tim Hortons into the UK was primarily due to the Afghanistan conflict. When the Canadian Forces moved down into the Kandahar province and set up on the Kandahar Airfield they brought a few Canadian things with them. This included a miniature Tim Horton’s outlet. And for a few years, until the expansion of Camp Bastion, the RAF ran a lot of its operations out of Kandahar. The “Timmie’s” was on an area called the boardwalk where all the nations had some sort of confectionery. And there the British soldiers became addicted to the Tim’s coffee and doughnuts.
There is a funny story about getting Tim Horton’s over there that I can relate if you are interested.

And the timbits box is an iconic institution for Canadians, especially Canadian children. I could spot one several hundred meters away and distinctly recall the agony of waiting for some adult to offer me an opportunity to dig into it before all the 'good ones' are gone.

My favourite thing was the Root Beer. My Parents and one of my Sisters went back to where we lived a few years ago. They filmed it and it was great to see that not much changed. It was still beautiful. 😢

Another Canadian here... yeah, no burgers on our menus here. The hash browns here, yeah, they are a slightly less-than of the McD's, but, they are good. And putting them in the breakfast stuff, is a norm. It might be your Tim's that is having difficulties with the potato items(?), but we do have our own province that is known for potatoes(PEI). Would LOVE to see you do a segment for Canadian places, however, the majority of our restaurants are in other countries (that I know of) so there isn't too much that is uniquely ours, except just going to the different provinces and finding those 'mum & pop' type places that every place has: example - Pickering, Ontario has Big M Burgers and Belagio's two great family run restaurants that are a MUST to eat at. Or, in Simcoe, Ontario there's Papa Luigi's (fantastic pizza place, greasy as all get out, but amazing!) It's all the little spots that make it worth the trip!

    - Original Honey Dip Donut
    - Honey Cruller
    - chili with a bun

I’m new to your channel and I love your videos. One thing I’ve noticed and thought I’d bring up, although perhaps somebody already has, is the pronunciation you use for McDonald’s products. I know in the US, and perhaps elsewhere in the world, the “Mc” preceding the product names is not pronounced “Muck-[name]”. It’s “Mick-[name]”. As in Mick-Muffin. The whole thing is actually quite ridiculous really (as is perhaps might even bringing this up). Regardless, I love how you guys picked up on the European McDonald’s products from the US having the “Mc” whereas the local products do not. That was brilliant! And your videos definitely make me want to try McDonald’s in other countries. Thanks for all you do, thoroughly enjoying the fun! ❤

Tims in Canada is completely different. Save for staple items like timbits and classic donuts! No burgers (unless that's a specialty in a particular province), even the wraps are different. In Canada the wraps are a lot jazzier, there's also soups that have become staples over the years. I would recommend trying the Ice Capp and fruit explosion muffin! Those have been a long time items on the menu. Definitely make a comparison video if you ever visit Canada!

I am a born and raised Canadian, who has been to many Timmies in my life and the burger is crazy confusing. An Ice Cap is more of a staple we dont have the burgers here.
Ill tell you what I get for breakfast. One of two things:
Either I go for the bacon wrap (it doesn't have the hash brown) but i ask for extra cheese and to add tomato. If you don't like tomatoes then I'd understand how that could sound gross, but its egg, cheese, bacon, and sriracha. The other thing I'd get is the three cheese bagel with cream cheese and extra cream cheese. I clearly love extra cheese.
The Canadian Maple donut is my all time fave but not all locations have it. Its not the most popular. It is really sweet though, so if you don't like getting kicked in the teeth with sweet then its not for you.
As far as what else to try,
We have a lot of the same fast food places as America. I think Harvey's might be one we have that they don't. But if you go to New York Fries (found normally in mall food courts) they have lots of poutine options. A normal poutine is always good and they have pretty good fries. I also love their giant hot dogs, and usually im not a fan of the bigger hot dogs (im sorry there is no way to say this that an immature person wont make fun of) but for some reason theirs are always fantastic. You could always google which restaurants we have that are Candian chains though.
