India has 1600 islands. All governments have failed to pick the right spot for 5 star luxurious accommodation with required infrastructure.
Visit Andaman. Andaman,Swajdweep, and Shaheed dweep have better amenities than Hawaii, Cancun, Phuket etc.

Lakshdweep does have basic infra, but Andaman is having far better infrastructure. Radhanagar beach is in top 10 beaches in the world. Visit Andaman, Swarajdweep, Shaheed dweep, Ross Islands while government develops Lakshdweep. We have better places than any other tourist spots in the world. The problem is in our psychology. We think that whatever is outside India is best. Come out of that mentality. I live in USA and have traveled many countries and their tourist spots. Based on my travel experience, I have found Indian places at par or better than them.
Both these need to be developed.

Don't overlook the sea cruise across Bay of Bengal to Port Blair. I went on that cruise (with family), and the experience has no comparison to any other tourist experience. Perhaps the only "cruise" activity in India. In the West, there is huge tourist market for cruises.
We, Indians don't know how to relax on a journey but rush to reach a "place" (or location). For those who want to enjoy a journey (rather than reaching the destination), this cruise (from Kolkata & Chennai) is the answer.
One thing that bothers me, is why this hurry to "develop" Lakshadweep, "only" in answer (response) to Maldives piqued by a political event. If that is so, something wrong with how we view things. This is typical, Indian re-action, all the same. Couldn't we be more "pro-active" and developed Lakshadweep, by now?
I appreciate this need for a healthy completion with Maldives or whoever. The real question is why the government sleeping on tourism in a huge country like ours. Forget Lakshadeep. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari what has this government or any other government done?? Have they ensure clean restrooms along highways, in and around places of interest, have they ensured hotels can open to cater to customers, information centers, encouraged business to cater to tourists? I am asking as someone who has not been in the country the last decade and quite curious if there have been changes and improvements. At least not much based off what I read dream visitors to India.
The combination of Lakshadweep + Andama & Nicobar islands, beaches of Gujarat, etc offers more than Maldives ever can. India has so many beautiful plaxes to visit that one cannot visit them all in one lifetime.

Till we build hotels and tourism infrastructure people could go to mainland India Beach resorts like Goa, Kovalam, Varikala, Mararikkulam, pondicherry, Andamans kanyaakumaari, these beach resorts can more than compensate for Maldivds
As of now Andaman is Ready to take volumes of Tourists.
Corporates and Governments should manage and be ready for summers.
Only way Maldives can compensate its mistake is by
1. building a huge hindu temple in Maldives,
2. rename Maldives international airport as Jai Sri Ram Airport

maldives have a one island one resort policy, lakshadweep cant afford to do that, simply because of the thousands of people already living there , if you consider the density of population for lakshadweep islands none of you would recommend the maldive style tourism there.... do not destroy the lakshadweep , its the only atolls we got, and not many of them.

Lakshadweep is clean because of lack of tourism most illiterate people from bimaru states have least sense of cleanlines and they pollute these beaches so if promoting lakshadweep andamaan u need to keep strict fine on those littering along with proper waste disposal and collection system before starting the place as tourism buisness spot many countries have followed no littering system and hence they are preferred by indians also govt should have their own cheaper alternatives stay places if private partners are hesitant initially
Very true. The moment we have garbage people all running around crazy in Lakshadweep littering things, spitting paan and urinating all around the place, instead of improving Laskhadweep infrastructure to world-class levels, the place will have transformed to a garbage dump.

An Indian news channel has a reporter live (yesterday) from Maldives and shockingly almost ALL the tourists are INdians. All of them crowding in a huge line to get tickets for a ferry/boat. Many other locations have Indians crowding around facilities. At this very moment more than 5000 Indian tourists have to be in Maldives (if not more). Shockingly it appears as though a big proportion of Tourist population is INdian [unless the reporter only went to the low/medium budget areas], but these areas do look pretty good. In other words, Indians will be back in droves in a matter of weeks, is what I am guessing.

Maldives will be fine. Most Indian tourists are low end with a tiny percentage partaking in expensive resorts that Maldives is known for. Many just go to Male for whatever. . And the other countries, especially China and Germany/Italy will go back to sending 'maximum number of visitors' now that covid is over
