It surprises me that almost none of the discussions on this 70 hr work week debate points to a commensurate pay for the 70 hours. Hard work is fine but where's the sweet fruit for that?
Ask them to Donate all their money for there Country. If not atleast donate like Sir Ratan Tata and do the social welfare like TATA Group 😁😂. I am wondering why an esteemed Organizarion is regurgitating this topic … work hours are a matter of personal choices … having. Said this I can attest that unless one puts in extra hours there is no growth and no success … when I say work hours I mean not just work time but time spent in learning and upskilljng or mentoring …this current trend of limited work hours shld be directly proportional to emoluments and can’t get increased. Hikes of 10-15 % every year unless one grows or shows performance … the reverse side of this is hiring process shld be templates where job changes in less than two years ( usually for salary hike) shld not be a encouraged… if this is surveyed across Senior executives in different industries .. the hours will be above the 40-50+ hours … and what about the independent service industry like restaurant owners or street vendors or even other folks involved being self employed dont work 40 hours a week … my two cents
What matters is what will be the compounded annual growth rate of return on investing the precious time of my life after 5 years of working for 70 hrs per week. If it is higher than the return on equity generated by the company in its operations I am ready to give 70 hrs a week. Let us be hard core capitalist and discard all emotional nonsense. Period !
If you want to become the next Elon Musk, then you have to work more than 70 hours or even longer but if you don't have a dream to become Elon Musk, then it doesn't matter how many hours you work and thats why the per capital income of USA on an annual basis is around $70,000/- whereas in India it would be around $3,000/- and maybe india will never be able to achieve the number as close to USA and the reason for this is because the total number of inventions are very less compare to USA and other western countries on an annual basis in order to improve the standard of the living of the common people. I don't remember if India ever invented anything that has improved the standard of living. Ofcourse UPI is made in india which is helping the govt a lot to improve the common life of people across the country. India needs more such inventions on an annual basis.
Govt employees and Bank employees get more salary and lesser time of work .moreover they can easily escape rigid working hrs ..They many time no internet or printer not working or system problem to escape work indpite of high salary they are getting apart from pension . They are considered to be a blessed community . The factory employees and employees under direct owners have to work hard thro out 8 hrs Their work is measured gor increments and promotions . Whether these groups are really ready to work for 70 hrs. If one section of society works for long hrs this society will find other related govt dept and banks are closed they can't get their things done .
First of bring down the disparity in salary of people of same qualifications. One degree holder gets 10000 in pvt sector 20000 in govt and 40000 in bank and insurance Why such disparity U sort out first Reduce the salary of hovt employees and other bank insurance and Railway employees to equal pvt sector then talk about 70 hrs work
