Your Montrealer is looking good, John. I'm with you on the have to look at my knitting thing. Can't wait to see how your Alaska Hat turns out, Scott- that's such a great pattern!
Scott, you need a knitting neck light for those darker yarn colours. I love mine. Thier are a ton of them out there to choose from. Great investment for knitting. Really enjoy your podcast, Sharon.
I love all the yarn. Scott - What to make with that cashmere yarn?! John - A crochet baby or lap blanket will go quick and give you enough of an intro to decide if it is something you wish to do again. Till next time. ☺💛
Loved hearing you say Uffda (Norwegian here 😄)! I always thought of Nanny McPhee’s «make over» as a way of showing how you start to see the inner beauty when you learn to know and love someone. Welcome back Scott and John. John, I love your Montrealer! It looks fab on you and you’ve done a really great job with it...so good that you’ve inspired me to knit one (or two) for my sons. Happy Anniversary to you both!!
Hi you two. Thanks for the shout out. I'm Irish. I live in Mayo on the west coast. But don't worry. My geography knowledge of US is not perfect either. Now we pronounce tomato 'tom ah toe'. We pronounce potatoes 'spuds'. I'm glad that you think I'm funny. As my mother used to say 'you're easily amused!!'. I really love what you do. Xx
Betty Ann says that about me all the time. She says I'm easily amused and that there are too many things that I say are my "favorite." She's convinced that not everything can be one's favorite, but I'm not sure I agree :)
Love watchig you both. You started out by talking about maybe crocheting. I was crochetig on my Hotel of Bees Shawl by Christina Hadderingh. I am ashamed of when I started... actually I can't remember, but it was a long time ago. Anyway, I'm determined to make it an FO!!! The good thing is that it starts out big and gets smaller as ou go. Thanks for keeping me company.
Love the Alaska hat yarn you chose. It will be glorious! John’s striped hoodie is also fabulous. Love watching you two. Poor Harris. Was he standing by the door with his back legs crossed? 🐶🧶
John, I think you can alternate the balls of yarn if you use one ball to knit one direction and the other to knit the opposite direction and just carry the yarn up the sides.
Good to see you both and lovely makes & wip's . Emma Thompson also wrote the Nanny Mcphee film scripts from a trilogy. I don't know any more. Take care😎
John, your Montrealer is awesome, great job ! You are inspiring me to make one, I love it, it looks so good on you. 💖 Scott, could "over the rainbow" relate to "yellow brick road", wizard of oz?..Love you two, keep safe 💕💕
I think Red Skelton portrayed a bum/hobo character. My dad used to love watching him, so I remember him from my childhood. If you want to try some different dish cloths, Kjosen Day (I think that's his name) on Ravelry has a group of 5 that were a change from the usual square. Love the yarn acquisition. Would love to visit that shop. See you next time.
you can alternate the yarn when you are knitting flat by knitting one row on the right side with C1, then start again at the same side (right side) and knit one row on the right side with C2. Then you purl across the wrong side with C1, then go back to the beginning of the wrong side and purl across with C2. It's a bit more complex to keep track of shaping rows and having the correct leans for increases/decreases, but completely doable.
The over the rainbow colorway may be referring to either “where troubles melt like lemon drops” or the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Love the podcast.
Haaaa “She needed a VO5 hot oil treatment”... totally cracked me up!! Love seeing you both!!! I think I am going to have to make the hoodie!! You have inspired me!!💕
Glad you’re back! I have caught up with all your episodes. I’m a knitter but taught myself to crochet this winter. I’m actually loving it - easier to fix mistakes and goes much faster. But you inspired me to learn how to knit socks so I have some sock WIPs to finish too!
Great episode. It did hit a little close to home. My husband comes in a room and sees the last 15 minutes of a movie I am watching and later tells everyone all about the movie. 😂😂 I am looking forward to rewatching Harlow.
Hi guys!! Happy to see you back!!! I am SO coveting some of your new yarn!! Yeah, cats can be evil!!! One of mine decided she liked my merino/mulberry silk.... luckily I caught her before she "made the cut" 😾
Hey Scott, the socks look great -nice colors. I too have a number of single skeins of fingering weight. I’ve just discovered holding it with mohair to make really warm/lightweight hats -KnitPicks has good prices for mohair. John, The Montrealer Hoodie looks great -the pop of orange brightens it up! I’m chuckling to myself cuz just before John started saying, “Every Good Boy...” I said, “we gotta come up with a mnemonic device to help Scott” and started LFSDWA (Look For Schitt’s Creek Diva’s Wig Accessories).
John, you can alternate skeins every 2 rows (knit & purl back) and then you carry your yarn up the side and that should be hidden in the side seam. I think that's standard for alternating skeins when you knit flat.
Thanks, enjoyed the show! 🖖 For a moment, I thought John was going to start blinking Morse code for help, when the statement was made about having to get through ALL the Angela Lansbury movies. Oy vey! I can't think of a subject I wouldn't enjoy listening from you two! Lovely knitting! I must have around 13 pairs of 9 inch circs...
I've forgotten what we were talking about it when it came to cake... if it was about my birthday coming up I think John is going to make me a coconut cake!
You can alternate every row when knitting flat by knitting with 3 cakes at the same time. Knit to the end of your first row with cake one , join cake two knit back to your starting end and then join cake three. Best of luck!
Doing a few dish clothes now for a change of pace. Switched from Sugar and Cream to Dishie from knit picks and am loving the variety available and the texture of the cotton.
John: A way to only get one row of each ball when you are knitting flat is to knit like you would do a two colored briosh on a round needle: First knitt one row with one colour/ball, go back to the begining where you started and do the same with the other ball. Now you will have both balls at the same side. Then you just do the same all over again. Swithch to the first ball and knit over. Then go back and knit with the second ball over to the first ball. Thus alternating one row at the time.
Ball band issue... my LYS which has since closed (🥺) always suggested rolling up the ball band in a little stick and poke it in the middle of the cake once wound. I’ve always done this and rarely loose my ball bands!
Red Skelton did the hobo character on his own show that was on TV after I had to go to bed when I was about 7 years old. Ticked me off because I loved him - I would lie awake and listen. Problem is a lot of his sketches were without dialogue so I would giggle when i heard the laugh track with no clue what i was laughing at.
I like knit and crochet, crochet is quick and so easy to fix however I like the end products of knitting. I mainly crochet baby blankets when I want to make something but brain space is limited, knit much more then crochet.
When I was young my great Aunt taught me to knit so I would have something to do in the dark as my parents turned out the lights at 8 pm every night. Guess I should tell you this was a long time ago. I'm now 71. Lol
Wow I was not expecting a Glass Cannon shoutout here lmao, hope you’re having fun with Pathfinder! My friends and I played that for about a year, we’re now playing DND 5e.
