It's still fascinating to me that these manufacturers are switching away from real buttons and knobs and dials and go for touch screen interfaces. I haven't met anyone who actually likes it. Reviewers certainly don't. None of them go: "Wow, a real button? I wish it was a touch screen instead!" - it's just... dumb cost-cutting.

@@banme2784t's not about getting used to it, being young, or being technologically adept. It's about safety. This is the one thing that almost all the car reviewers agree on: touchscreen controls for climate control and other frequently used features are just more dangerous. You simply cannot "feel" where the knob or button is and operate it and still keep your eyes on the road. Every single second that your eyes are off the road is dangerous. Accidents happen in a split second.

Hey, no Ferrari fan here but you sure the beeping at the start isn't the seat belt warning?
You're supposed to put it on before you start the car, so most cars bong unless you have it on before you start. Some have software hacks to get around that (OBD II stuff) but it's not necessarily across the board.
The bongs in this seem irritating so the complaint is warranted on that part, but ultimately you're probably hearing bongs because you're not following what should've been your entry level driving class instructions: get everything setup before you start the ignition.

@@___echo___ Before I give my idea about the mechanical reasons, I'll note that every automotive journalist has said this time and time again for every one of these hybrid supercars, they have no steering feel, perhaps with the exception of the holy trinity. But yes to the SF90, the Artura, the NSX, and the 296GTB. I think the reason is that the electric motors are connected to the front wheels, one motor to each wheel so that torque vectoring is possible. The problem with doing this is that if you tuned the steering rack to be responsive you'd feel the wheel yanking itself out of your hands every time the torque vectoring engaged while going around a corner, so they have to essentially have the steering be overly boosted to the point where it's completely numb and doesn't react to what the front wheels are actually doing, in the same way that a stick on a game controller doesn't react to what your character in the game, there's no feedback.

Yeah definitely with you there on the touch screen vs actual buttons- anything I *need* to operate while driving I need to be able to do without looking away from the road, you need to be able to adjust the climate control to keep the windscreen clear/to stop yourself boiling alive so that needs to be something you can do by touch. I jsut think it's really dangerous to have design features that require the driver to look away from the road whilst driving.

Insane sound and insane acceleration, still lightweight, and handles like a dream. The interior is a step-down. In my humble opinion, the GTC4Lusso era is the peak Ferrari interior, especially with the tanned leather. Smart screens, but physical buttons, and good looks.

Now that I’m used to it, its no big deal. then again, that car is a daily driver. The center screen has no feedback and also not a big deal now. a lot of you dont understand that it's a real fight out there to make cars in which the interior doesnt age. If you look at a 2016 car right now, it already looks ancient (from a young person's perspective). So that's the reason for the lack of analog. That's it, and I fully get it.
Also, like it or not, small v6s hybrids are the near term future of the fastest cars (on track at least), and fully electric ones are the future of all cars. Just accept it at this point.

Personally. I’m way more interested in plug-in hybrids than EVs. Not all are good, of course, but I’ve seen some awesome ones! They feel way more practical for the majority of use cases than a full EV. Obviously there’s nothing practical about THIS hybrid, since it’s a Ferrari and they don’t make practical anything… but it’s the same idea. We need more cars like that.
This car looks awesome. I wouldn’t buy one (if I could, I mean, because I can’t) mainly because I’d be afraid to park it anywhere but also because those stupid capacitive buttons are so much less safe and more obnoxious. Capacitive buttons are not part of the 20% or so of a Tesla that’s worthy of copying, but rather the 80% that’s terrible.
