Summer has finally hit the south of Germany and immediately the last warm sweaters and jackets made it through the wash and into their summer home in the basement. Out came the light dresses! Yay!!!! It's been HOT here, in the high 90s. I'm decluttering material, actually finished a few projects that I'm gifting to friends and family, but it sure cleared some space in my spare bedroom.
I love your idea to put things on probation. I already did this a couple of times now and forced me to wear t-shirts and blouses that I hadn't worn for years. Wearing them made the decision really easy! Thank you for all the inspiration!!!!

My oldest (7 yo) asked last week when he’s able to wear his shorts again. I think he tried to tell he’s sick of the weather as well. I will have a (back) surgery within 2 weeks and i really wanted to finish to declutter the closed on the hall on the first floor. So because zone 4 is looking well i’m going to try to declutter the last 2 shelves before then

We are under a heat advisory here in the Midwest of the US, it is hot hot hot today and it's going to continue at least through Friday. I need a wardrobe refresh but haven't taken the time to go shopping so I don't have clothes to declutter, but I went through my makeup and found 4 things that I am not using that can go. Hiya Diane - this week i have decluttered one jacket and two nail varnishes! Last time it eas bedroom week, my granddaughter (8years old) was staying over and she helped me declutter 4 nail varnishes by yesting then on her fingernails - she had a different coloir on each finger! We threw out the ones that had gone 'sticky'. Thank you for todays inspiration re scarves - methinks a short trip upstairs to review the scarf situation is in order.
Every time I watch one of your decluttering videos, the result is that, without planning or intending to, I somehow end up decluttering something! You are very powerful, Diane.

Can't imagine having so many clothes. I have about 4 of each genre, tops, pants, shorts, and 2 dresses. Fastinates me to see other peoples closets. I don't like to shop so I keep it simple without meaning to.
Still waiting for summer weather to arrive here in western Canada. It’s 8C this morning. Brrr. 🥶 I revamped my closet in May but it hasn’t been warm enough to wear my usual summer outfits.
I went through my closet and tried on my clothes I didn't just look at them. I ended up decluttering a kitchen trash bag full. There were some others I set aside that are just a little too tight. If they don't fit by the end of the summer, they can be decluttered.
I've got several handbags going on probation/being donated/sold. Don't think they're me anymore. Also a pastel pink cardigan I bought preloved but that just makes me feel old.
The bright pink and white polka dot scarf you decluttered comes across my screen as a type 4 pink. That's maybe why you don't like it as much as your others?
I tend to keep my wardrobe fairly decluttered, but did find a couple things from my closet, and gave one pair of rarely used earrings to daughter who was thrilled to have them. 5 min and done!
As I have decluttered most of my clothes I am focusing on the basement. So far I have decluttered a pre-lit Christmas tree, a mat for the entrance way, 3 pkgs. Of Christmas ornaments which I will give to my daughter-in-law, 10 cookbooks, an exercise ball that wes losing air. Also, a set of sheets and pillowcases, a pj top. I would like to declutter my whole closet but that would leave me with nothing to wear and where I live shopping is limited unless you are a young adult, the selection for an older person is limited especially if you are petite. . Finally some nice sunny warm weather so I washed all the bedclothes and hung them outside, a nice breezy day for drying clothes. Rah, Rah.
You do so well declutterring your scarves, Diane! I have some I just can’t let go of even though I never wear them. Case in point, one that I bought in London years ago. It’s a beautiful scarf showing Buckingham Palace, the guards, etc. but I never wear it. What to do with it?
Your probation system is a game changer. I've always just done a big try on to check if things still fit. Now I actually try to wear things, it's a much better gauge. Starting a new job in a couple of weeks so need to put some outfits together!
Not quite wardrobe, but still in my bedroom, i used to like having multiple lip liners and lipsticks, and also eyeliners......the more i had i could never find them, am using up products one at a time and now have to know where the item is, slowly slowly reducing make up, aim is to have it all in one make up bag by end of the year 🎉

This morning I completed a declutter of all photographs from my computer to external hard drive storage. 🎉🎉 In the bedroom this week I'll look at clothing, jewelry and decorative items. I've pared down immensely, but will continue lifelong. 'Things' creep into the home continually. I immediately predicted that your two red scarves will go. 😉 Happy Monday!

My family and I recently went through some boxes leftover from our move almost 2 years ago. We managed to empty 8 boxes, combining what we kept into 2 boxes. We were finally able to let go of those sentimental things like old t-shirts from different places and events. You’re right - you feel so much lighter and freer without so much clutter! Hi Diane, Thanks for the initiative to get into my closet! I have enjoyed seeing your transitions through the years. I first started following you when hygge was becoming popular in the US and you had a *very* different haircut then and hadn't found Dressing Your Truth yet! I also recall that you warned viewers when you were going into your closet that you liked your jewelry and had *a lot* more hanging in your closet! One question for you - I'm curious how you can wear scarves around your neck in the summer! I only wear scarves in the winter and they are the first thing that comes off if I start to get warm :) Anyway - they look lovely! And regards to weather, we are looking at dangerously hot temps in New England this week, with temperatures near 35-36.6 C!
Yes! Decluttering brings into focus the things I really enjoy and use. I got rid of a jacket (linen, but tight in shoulders) and an old favorite tee that was faded and no longer looking stylish. 👚🥼 A few summer tops have been moved to the edge of the closet until they can be replaced (soon!) 🌺☀️
So funny Diane when we say it just before you do.... the red stripped scarf I said " Oh no Diane looks like a flag." Thanks again! Do you ever lose something you love to wear when you are decluttering. I have a favorite caftan that I like to wear in summer to parties. I've seen it as I planned to take it on vacation in June last minute too it out, now I cannot find it. Boo hoo😢

Flipped the mattress, cleaned base boards and walls. Washed the bedding. Only thing I didn't get to was the windows.

I'm letting go of a skirt and a scarf. Decluttering in small amounts is an easy way to cull my wardrobe.
