Actually, the Roxenda One even has "奇艺魔方 | Roxenda" written on its box, the first two Chinese chraracters literally mean QiYi, the last two Magic/Rubik's Cube, which is the official name of the QiYi Company. That's why it's no wonder that the Sticker on the cube reads 魔方格， or Mofange

Nah I don't think so. Some kung fu 3x3's also have circular centers like that and since the pieces looked very similar to the kung fu pieces he compared it to I'm guessing that's what they were going for. Although it'd probably fool begginers who were looking for a speedcube that saw someone solving a cube that looks like that quickly.

@@iDunnoMC Yeah not denying that it definitely looks like a Gan cube at first glance but I was just saying that some Kung Fu 3x3's also look very similar. Although I bet only an experienced cuber that has tried out Gan cubes before would be able to tell that it wasn't a Gan cube by turning it

I appreciate videos like this. You're doing good work that needs to be done that no other big cubers have bothered to touch.
I fell victim to a few of these overpriced, rehashed puzzles on more than one occasion. The biggest annoyance of it all is how much Amazon enables these practices.
They not only enable these practices, they encourage them. If you try to sell anything on Amazon (I wanted to start as a very small, non-cube-related business), they tell you to use an existing listing. But sellers will claim a brand even for an unbranded product. And if you price any lower than them at all, they will order your product to a vacant address, then demand a refund claiming what you're selling is fake, and report you as a fraudulent seller (again, on an unbranded product), and Amazon will suspend your seller account. So that's partly why you see 20+ listings for the exact same product with slightly different product or brand names, so the competitors don't claim it's a knockoff (of an unbranded item). If I sound salty, it's because I am. Lol The strongarm techniques of these companies would get even worse if you included brand names, I'm sure. The seller forums are full of people who openly talk about keeping prices artificially high, etc.

Thank you for posting this. My sister buys EVERYTHING on Amazon. When I got into cubing back in September, she bought be a SpeedRipper off of Amazon. While I enjoy the puzzle, I can't wait to tell her what it really is.

Gamerz 3.0 no the kylin v2 m is magnetic, sticker less and doesn’t come with a screwdriver. The kylin is around 10 bucks and that Amazon thing wont sell a magnetic stickerless cube for almost the same price with a screwdriver, repackaged and the kylin only comes in stickerless. That one is stickered

I'm glad you posted this video. Great for people who may be newer to cubing. Six months ago I thought D-Fantx and Coogam were actual speed cube brands. But I didn't get taken by any of the overpriced cubes because I'm a cheapo! I ended up with a Warrior W and Qidi S bundle from Coogam for about 8 bucks and had my wife Prime order it for the free shipping from her account.

I actually always get a little stressed out when I see people unboxing cubes and the first thing they do is taking them apart. I always feel like they are gonna shatter and won't be possible to being assembled again.
This is a really great video. It is amazing how quickly you recognize brands just from seeing the pieces.
This type of production and marketing is not new by any means. Many cars are like that. There’s even a Ford Taurus that is sold as a BMW. I was a manager of a discount store and the mock Girl Scout cookies are actually made by the exact same manufacturer of authentic Girl Scout cookies. There are so many products that are the same, from soap to cars and are packaged and stamped differently. This is more likely the work of the manufacturers like Moyu or yj working out contracts with companies to slap their name on it, rather than amazon or some store trying to trick you. We know the Chinese duplicate companies aren’t always honest, but as far as other ones, they might have legitimate trademark rights.
The saddest thing is that I bought one of these as my first cube.

Years ago when I bought my first one I did a lot of research beforehand, I already knew what brands were legit, and so I managed to get a Dayan Zhanchi off amazon which was good. I didn't know at the time that the Dayan Zhanchi was already kinda out of date, I'd done only enough research to basically find it on lists of "10 best cubes" or whatever that were already years old. But I love that cube to this day, all it's clunkiness and all. I bought another Zhanchi in the end, a stickered one cos my first was a stickerless. But yeah. I feel a weird affinity to Dayan still even though they've fallen off now really. I wanna buy their newest cube even though I already have a gan 365 xs. Just for no reason. It's a hobby, it's gotta be fun and it's fun to buy cubes I don't need

Great investigative work. Funny how some generic Amazon sellers are significantly more expensive than pro-cube stores are. Good stores have reliable suppliers and stand behind their products.
It's possible the SpeedRipper OG is a Yuxin Black Kirin. I remember it being very similar to the Yuxin Little Magic but cheaper-feeling overall. I have only used the YLM and Black Kirin both in stickerless, so this is just a guess.
My first speed cube was the DFantix Cyclone boys 3x3 because it was what amazon recommend 😭

I do love the dedicated cube stores, but that being said I currently own 15 3x3's and one 4x4 -- all of them purchased from Amazon except one (Gan 356 XS purchased from Speed Cube Shop pre-order). Now, I've actually bought well over 30 3x3's (also from Amazon), which is the reason why I buy from Amazon -- I returned all of them except for 14. No questions, no return shipping, no restocking fees, etc. And I'm actually glad I did purchase them from Amazon, because quite a few of them (Valk 3 Elite, MGC Elite, Gan 356i, Gan Robot, Gan 460, etc.) were rather pricey high end brands/models and frankly, they sucked. I would've been pretty bent if I had ordered them from dedicated cube shop with stricter return policies. And you really don't know if you're going to like a cube until it's in your hands, and all the reviews, RUclips videos, etc., isn't really going to change that.
Honestly that's a really good video, great subject, very interesting and useful with amazing cube knowledge, thanks had a great time

Actually bought a eye cube from my friend once. I was really confused because I never heard of it. But I ignored the fact that I didn't know what it was, and it was a really slick, fast, loose cube

I remember when I was in high school around 7 years ago, I bought my first "speedcube" off amazon and it was "The Cube" you opened. Im sure at the time it was an even worse cube that before and I still have it and I would honestly rather use a Rubik's brand than whatever "The Cube" I got was. I paid around $30 for it at the time.

I bought the stickerless roxenda on amazon but thankfully I don’t think I overpaid. If I did it wasn’t much, only $3.99 and free shipping. I have extreme anxiety and love puzzles so for now it’s fine since I’m not focused on speed. Once I learn the basics I will hopefully be able to utilize a speed cube for what it is. It’s helped me tremendously to keep my hands busy and I think it’s a great hobby or profession for someone. Very interesting video and thanks for recommending the website. I will definitely make sure to use it next time,

I have a "Duncan Quick Cube" that I found at a Love's Travel Stop before I got back into cubing, I looked it up and it's a rebranded YJ Guanlong.

I used to get scammed by Roxenda. They have a tendency of telling you exactly who made it. I bought a Roxenda 3x3 or the Qiyi sail. It even had the Qiyi Cube logo on it lol.
I bought carbon fiber 3x3 off of them, it was a Warrior W with the logo removed and they claimed it was theirs
I bought one of those packs of twelves as a joke and they all were qiyi cubes.

I ordered a Valk 5 off of Amazon because SPS didn't have it in stock, and it was actually priced a dollar less. Now I'm kind of worried I bought a knockoff instead of a Valk 5. Will have to see when it arrives tomorrow.
Update: It is in fact what was advertised. If you buy from CuberSpeed, you're not getting ripped off. You're getting free shipping (if you have prime) and an equal or even better deal, plus greater availability. I do still recommend going to SpeedCubeShop instead, though, if possible as their customer service and professional setup service are invaluable.
@@theroboman727 Literally just got it half an hour ago. So far I'm fairly certain it is an actual Valk 5, considering all of the packaging checks out. It's a bit slow out of the box, which is to be expected, so I'm going to set it up and do some closer inspection to make sure everything is in order.

If im right, the eye cube is from a Japanese company. If you check amazon.co.jp , the cube called CACUSN will show up. That was my first cube and it comes with a nice stand as well. Also the package comes in something like the little magic.

Im on a budget but i love the rubiks cube. So i did some research and found that there were A LOT of different variations. I am in no way a speed cuber but i have become a bit of a puzzle enthusiast. I recently purchased a bunch of cubes from Amazon. The megaminx is a little gummy but turns rather well. The skewb turns INCREDIBLY well. Im assuming its probably actually a better brand that it was listed as. I had to reassemble it because my son popped one of the corners of and discovered it has magnets. The 3x3 mirror and the 3x3 windmill mirror both also turn well. Im sure mine have been repackaged and paid more but i still enjoy them.

got the speed ripper for Christmas cause i told my cousins my nice magnetic GTS2M had been taken at a comp and she wanted to buy me a new nice one. And it tricked her into thinking this was the highest quality cube. Seriously she thought it was like the best cube you could get. I was still very greatful and it wasn't too bad. But my M3RS still feels better. It feels much cheaper, and yet on the inside its exactly the same.
