      Doesn't matter- majority there supports the radical left economical policies like price-fixing and wide nationalization, are still blaming free market and European colonists, and are fine with using terror against political opponents. Even a lot of 'right-wing' there speak like half-communists. So I say- let it burn.

    Im from Brazil and I must say those elections dont look diferent from the elections here. Politicians from left and right wing parties in the week previous to the election do all sort of events in poor communities which are ignored by most of the politicians after they are elected. For instance, in the favela near my neighborhood there is a soccer field, it was all torn apart so they send people to revitalize it, I could see it every day, the construction was almost over one month before the elections but they stopped working. One week before the election they came back, finished it and there was a party with the politician. After that I never saw him again. Actually I think if there was free food being given here in Brazil it would work too since in latin america poor people always are in lack of descent food. Maybe americans cant relate to our reality . . .
    Another point, in Brazil they've arrested the most popular candidate in the elections, Lula, with no evidence whatsoever. Where are the sanctions imposed by the US here?

    I think there's a term for this system actually - a 'water empire'. If people in a province support you, you provide them with water (or food) and they are eternally grateful. If they don't support you, you don't feed them, and they are wiped out (and thus no longer a problem).
    The only problem is that eventually the empire rots away from the inside until some foreign force comes in and suddenly overthrows it - the reason the Mongols were so quickly able to conquer China for instance.

    This is not a racist statement, it is a analysis of a pitiful reality. Venezuela is not known as black nation. It has always been a multicultural and diverse country. But why all these crisis and collapse is slowly making it look like most of the population is now black? Same happened with Cuba. Look at the videos of people who, as a result of all this social and economic collapse, have left, and now live outside of Venezuela. they are mostly white and mestizo. Why is this? It's as if being poor and resentful has to do with being black. It seems as if they enjoy the role of victims. Now they believe that they won and that they finally got revenge for a damage that was once done to them. When in reality all this corraborates that, those who have done harm to them are not others but themselves.

      Tyler Brown, I'm from Colombia. I Agree parcially with what you are writing, there are urgent problems and conflicts within every country, Colombia will never be the exception for example, whit similar context in some aspects as in Venezuela and even with your country, but add it a sistemic structure of corruption and deep ignorance in every Colombian of the reality of their own country, but, I don't think this is propaganda, this shows the reality, a fraction of it of course, If the liberals perception hasn't notice this, and now are in a negation state... that's really not the matter, Venezuelans are now in the most worrying state, in Bogotá some of them are litterallaly accepting the worst treatments only to find more money for their meals.but finally, I believe the US has been this regulator of nothing but their selfinesh and fears, if liberals want to accept or not the geopolitic state that US has with Venezuela, that at the end and in the reality do nothing for the hunger and dead that feels and define this region. This problem is of Venezuela and they are doing nothing to solve it.

    in south Africa we have a movement called the ANC which resembles the dominating party in Venezuela in a few ways. firstly the ANC calls themselves a liberation movement, emphasizing the fact that they freed us from apartheid. and in Venezuela they constantly speak of a revolution. secondly the ANC's mass support comes from the poor and old, similar to Venezuela. the supporters love ANC because of a cult like love for Mandela, similar to Chaves. actually many African nations can relate with what is happening in Venezuela. my sympathies go out to you in hopes that one day you will be truly freed.

    I spent a summer in Venezuela during the heyday of Chavez. Something I noticed is that the most fervent supporters of Chavez and socialism in general were the more darker skinned of Venezuelans. While those the most opposed to redistribution of wealth were the more pale skinned Venezuelans. I find it telling that, after the pale skinned Venezuelans left the country, almost immediately the economy truly tanked. They moved to neighboring countries like guyana, suriname, brazil, etc. And wherever they settled the economies began to grow.

    • @chronokoks
      @chronokoks 3 года назад

      So let me get this. Hugo Chavez gets into power, starts bullying and naming the "pale skinned" people as enemies of the "people" and then starts nationalizing companies even though in 1998 he said he WOULDN'T NATIONALIZE. Why would the pale skinned people remain in such a country? I would move out from the country too. I'm not a massochist, if you call me evil and blame me every day for your own problems i'm just going get away from you. It's that simple. 5 to 6 million of venezuelans left due to the idiocy of the socialists Chavez and Maduro.

    This election highlights a key issue of how any democracy can be bent and broken by powerful demagogues. Maduro used populist messages to gain support and win elections, and as president stripped the powers of his opponents and restructured the Venezuelan government to make himself more powerful. The Venezuelan economy failed not because of Maduro or the Venezuelan government, but because Venezuela was dependent on the price of oil. For anyone pointing to starvation as a natural consequence of the government, you're wrong. Venezuelans can't control the price of food and other basic needs due to hyperinflation, but Maduro is exploiting their needs to keep himself in power.
