New Washington Bridge price tag estimated at $455 million

The McKee administration said Monday that its estimate for demolishing the westbound Washington Bridge and building a new one has gone up significantly.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation estimates that the bridge’s demolition and rebuilding will cost over $400 million, with $40.52 million for the demolition and $368.3 million for the building portion of the project.
The state also estimates that an additional $46 million will be needed for emergency expenses, driving the potentional cost to about $455 million.
