Jang you should set aside an area for holiday themes. You might have alot of fun setting up a Christmas and Halloween display in part of your city. Give you more active role in your city during holidays and you can make videos for it during the holiday seasons aswell.

Long time Lionel model railroader now shifted to Lego. One thing we MRR's agree on are walk around layouts where everything is upfront and not requiring reaching across more than say 2 feet or an arms length. You have a solid plan moving everything upfront for better filming and overall space. Very well done Blog and love the new channel focus.

I particularly love that the plaza walkway between the music store building and the diner lines up directly with the main entrance of the mall. That creates such a cool camera angle and I can imagine being a minifig walking down that. I read the blog and didn't quite understand what changes were coming to the layout, but seeing that aesthetically pleasing section made it click for me. Thank you for sharing with us your thought process the changes. I'm really excited to see where this new way of approaching the city will take it!

  • @ceciliaFX

Love the improved changes. For me, it's all about MiniFigs going about their business and engaging with each other.
I also LOVE where you placed the corner garage. It's Perfect for driving a car in to get gas and driving back out into traffic. Placing it in that little "twist" in the road was inspired. Even if you want to make a custom building there, I hope you keep that part of it.
I'm looking forward to your next improvements

  • @jeffreychen9848

First off, I like the new changes - it's really great getting to see these new angles of your buildings!
Second, for the newly expanded plaza, it could be interesting to have a bunch of smaller shops (like a barber shop, cafe, etc). You could even make it two stories. That way, you can fit some extra buildings in while still maintaining visibility.

I love your city so much Jang!! It’s been such a crazy experience watching it grow and change over the years. In fact, your city had inspired me to start collecting the LEGO modular buildings in hopes that one day I can have a city as cool as yours as well as helped me finally have a true and much more mature look at just what LEGO is truly about. A change in maturity that I cannot express my thankfulness enough, I went from using markers to color on my minifigures and pliers to damage pieces to actually building my very own modular building: a library. Speaking of which, if you’re ever looking for something to build I’d definitely suggest attempting a library and not because I built one but because while getting inspiration I realized just how versatile a library’s design actually is. You can have it anywhere from multiple 48x48 base plates to just one 16x32 base plate. Then on top of that seeing as libraries are community driven they can either be super ornate and look classical, kind of like a town hall design or they can be really modern with lots of windows and corners. Besides, I think it could compliment your overall set up quite nicely like placing it in the back corner along with the mall or something but then again, just a suggestion. Anyways back to my original point, while I did enjoy your previous city set up I did always think it seemed almost too much of a hodgepodge, if that isn’t too bold of me to say, and it always looked like you had a direction but it lacked consistency in some areas. But this new set up is absolutely wonderful, everything looks proper and I can almost see it being a real city layout. Especially that rounded corner turn from the Corner Garage to the Assembly Square, it’s almost European-esque in how close it is in the rounded turn. TL;DR: I’ve been watching since your Hero Factory line and of all the changes I’ve seen to your city I whole heartedly agree with you that this change is absolutely for the betterment of the city’s look and I do think that you should consider building a Library for your hangout section of the city, it could be quite fun but in general keep up the fantastic work Jang :D.

    Hey Jang,
thank you for sharing your new motivation. Quality over Quantity is always a good way in my opinion. I love your changes to your city. Inviting us more into your city and into the lifes of your minifig citizens.
I'm limited with space at home, so I decided to use this as a positive thing. Making entertaining mocs with interesting minifigure scenes in smaller inviroments. Even building in micro- and nano scale. I've designed a castle attacked by a dragon. And it fits in your palm. Entertainment is not a matter of scale. It's a matter of creativity.
I've seen huge city builds with less heart and soul. Only cool, because it's big.
Your city has heart and soul. And you really care about your minifig citizens. I think they were happy. And now even happier.

Read your blog... watched your video.... VERY excited to see this next phase of your city-building process.
I've always been a big fan of your city, but another channel - SmallBrickCity - has also captured my attention for a similar reason as to the one you discuss in your blog. Even though his city layouts aren't super expensive, he packs all these fun little scenes and jokes into every inch that really make things come to life. Kinda like the video you did a while ago with the "Seagulls, stop it now" BLR reference on your beach, or all the little things you packed into your mall and zoo... Even your Jabba's Pizza moc... You already have done a lot of that unique scene-building stuff, even if it wasn't your intended focus before. I really look forward to seeing your own take on that kind of approach given how much space you have to really pump a lot of quality into your already impressive quantity. XD
    Happy building!
P.S. the dude riding in the wheelbarrow is = giggles.

Thank you for continuing with the great work, and for alienating the small number of people who don't understand this is your city that it's your choice what you do it with it. I never understood the constant request for an airport though, a train yard is much more interesting.
I like this new direction, more into a layout to look at and enjoy rather than finely crafted detail not to be seen.

You go Jang! Love that you’ve resolved to do what keeps you motivated & most importantly makes you happy. 😁

In the open space near the mall you should make a big movie theater like AMC! It would go along great with that shopping center area!

Glad the city is finally back! Loving the new direction, can't wait to see how it unfolds

You should make a firing rang or is that to much for lego

Like a real one? The BrickLink AFOL designer program is releasing that Hot Shot Carnival set that's like a boardwalk firing range game thing. :P

You should use your remote control Lego car to race around the streets of your Lego City, I think that would be fun and interesting to do.

The most unrealistic thing about your city isn’t the Minecraft land underneath it but the half empty parking lot right in front of the mall.

You should extend your beach a little, have a big ocean connected to the harbor, make the city even bigger.

The large space by the yet-to-be-built skyscraper could have apartments and/or contain the back alley of an opera house where a tragic backstory takes place. You have fun with it.

Impressive changes, one thing's for sure, New Jang City is always a work in progress, I wouldn't know where to start if I wanted to build my own Lego city! For starters, I don't have not enough space to create something like that, but it's fun to see what you will be doing in the future, I'm sure you have everything written down somewhere so you don't get lost, have fun building, Jang!

As informative as all the reviews are and such this is truly prime JANG. I'd pay to see just his LEGO City getting built.

I know you don’t care what we think, but I thought I would let you know that I love the lighting and the new philosophy. The new backdrop still feels weird, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

I think it would be really awesome if one of your skyscrapers have individual removable floors(they pull out like shelves) so all of the internals can be appreciated.

When I first saw the green space, it made me think of a community vegetable garden! But a park sounds fun, too! (see, I'm not telling you what to do! ;) )

I love what you're doing. It's already nice to get a better look at some of the buildings. That shot looking down towards the mall between the buildings looks great. Keep it up Jang, can't wait to see what happens next :)

Wow. Now this was a great progression video. I’ve practically been awaiting the next notable update of yours, and here it is! All of your plans have gotten me really inspired and I thank you once again for motivating my mood, so to speak. Just two questions: will you do an interior for your Skyscraper one day? And what happened to the other end of your semi-new passenger train (I know I’ve been asking this question a lot)

That reorganized mall area really does now feel like a real place. Great work
