This Sculpture May Offend You

  • Ok fine, it might not be THAT scandalous of a sculpture, but you probably won't want to keep it on your desk at the office (or maybe you will, workplaces have gotten so modern)(Also, what are offices?). This is an art piece that will hopefully make the kid in you chuckle, while the open minded, accepting adult in you will nod your head. No judgement. That's the key to this whole piece, which is why I've decided to name it 'Do your Thang ;)'. Everyone should have the right to do what they do without any judgement. You will definitely not get any judgement from me.
    This mechanical sculpture was mainly 3d printed in white PLA. I used brass to accent the white and add a little extra flair. As always, the design was created using Solidworks. The hands were sculpted in Blender 2.9 because it's basically impossible to sculpt hands with parametric CAD software like Solidworks. Running smoothly on ball bearings, this piece embodies the use of mechanical engineering to create art. It's artgineering at it finest :).
    Shoutout to David Neevel- I discovered your 'Bingo' piece about 3 days into the design of this project and laughed hysterically. We definitely have a similar sense of humor.

    Hi, to get wires through internal passages, you can try to vacuum a smaller line through first (in this case fishing line might work). Then pull through the actual wire with the smaller line. As long as the internal passage is big enough and unobstructed, this should work every time.

      @@Engineezylol, fair enough. If you've already printed it, you have the files, what else is needed to make them ready to sell?
      (I'm currently learning to design and make my own files and am wondering if/when I make something useful or fun enough others might want, what goes into getting ready for others to use, after you've already got them to print successfully.)

    Eternal Swagger.
    On a more serious note how do you find out how many batteries (and which batteries) to use to make your machines work as planned

    • @Engineezy
      @Engineezy  Год назад +3

      In this case the motor is rated for 6V, most of the cylindrical batteries are rated for 1.5V so 4 in series gives you 6V. I chose AAAs here because theyre smaller and fit better in the sculpture

    What you want for cutting pipe is one of these (Just found a cheap one on amazon, but the term is, not surprisingly, pipe cutter) www.amazon.com/Pipe-Cutter-Stainless-Plastic-Plumbing/dp/B084ZV5BXP
    You basically tighten the knob until its snug and then spin the tool around the pipe while bringing the knob tighter and tighter.
