The solar roadways barely make any power and were very broken when Thunderf00t visited them. The LED lights were full and barely visible, too.
The "Metro light" idea is actually used all over the world, not just in Amsterdam. Vancouver has them, New York has them, Singapore has them, and many other cities.
True, I remember I saw it years ago in metro in Russia (in medium city, not even in Moscow or St Petersburg).
its true canada has them to
The HK MTR has it too, and probably started it about three years ago now.
Delhi Metro too.
Malaysia too
I live in the city where they made the drain socks. It was made by university students who wanted to see if it would make an impact. It’s been going great & they’re doing more
Drain socks???
Look into trash wheels like they have in Baltimore to clean trash that dumps into waterways via storm drains.

In Argentina, for a long time there have been lights on the trains and subways and trucks that automatically lift the garbage cans and in fact they are with natural gas, which pollutes less than electric ones 🇦🇷❤
The urinal is insane and would never get used by anyone
Seems like a fast track to get a STD, and potentially kill people.

Tbh I really liked the solar powered road idea and now want to look into it more
its an expensive, inefficient use of solar panels, and the biggest company pushing this is basically a fraud at this point.
its a scam and has been known as one for years
Swinging is my favorite, I’m old ( late 50’s) and friends bought my a swing for my front porch a couple Christmas
‘s ago. I spend as much time as possible in it. It was the best gift I’ve ever received,
My city uses the electric claws on the dump trucks to collect trash, and I had always naturally assumed it was implemented everywhere. If all of these inventions were indeed implemented in every city, it would save the world a lot of trouble.
Dude in my country some guy comes to your front door and collects your trash because I live in an apartment complex
bro same
Fremont California garbage trucks all have claws. I thought every city had trucks equipped with claws now. There are still garbage men that have to go and physically pick up a garbage can and dump it?? That's got to be terrible for their back. Every single city should implement these electric clawed garbage trucks.

I have that of the bridge crossing for animals for yrs. Thought it was just my imagination and it would likely never happen. Glad it is and hopefully will become world wide.
We have the face to face swings as well as face to face park benches. They're kind of 'S' shaped, each person sits in one of the loopy sides so they're facing each other. We also have the claw style garbage trucks. I don't know if they're as green as these though. The hoists for moving things into homes, every time I go somewhere historic that still have the posts, I wonder why they were stopped in the first place.
Not to mention the hole for the first urinal you showed won’t fit all sizes. But there’s an insert now that many places use where they don’t want to spend the money to replace the whole thing that now work better than the angle. They are called splash guards. They are made of plastic rubber with lots of tiny spikes to disperse the splash locally within the basin instead of on the floor.
Grown man don't stick their penises in strange holes.
one of the best "urinals" i have ever seen in my n70 years is still the whole wall with a trench in the floor and a wash down pipe above. you can't miss, and the trench is wide enough to catch any "over spray" or splash back. only down side is no privacy, it's out there for everyone to see.
@@cannon3267 hence why no more troughs lol.
Sometimes western solution just amuses me. Well that splash rubber/plastic pad is a great option
i'm not a guy... but that idea was a NOPE for me if i was... before he even mentioned hygiene i was going... gross, i'd be afraid of my thing touching that period. never mind the whole size issue and weirdo's... doing things with them, because we all know there are weirdos out there. then there's the whole height issue...
4:40 - not just incredibly unhygienic, but only functional for those of a specific height!
I could see people just shoving trash inside those urinals.

I remember seeing those bridge and fence systems for animals while riding through the Rocky Mountains in BC and Alberta on family vacations.
yep they've been in canada for decades, i grew up in BC... ontario needs them, moose ain't no joke.
Years ago I went to a night club in London and the men's urinal was a sheet of one way mirror with a drain at the bottom. On the other side all these people were standing there looking directly at you, I was convinced that they must be able to see through it
Subway map LEDs are the standard on Toronto subways, too. It is indeed very handy!
They will eventually be replaced with display screens, because Toronto will have too many train lines to fit on one map in the future.
Keep those vídeos coming. Big fan here!!! I've learned a lot from your vídeos. Thank you kindly for the knowledge shared with us. Good job! 👌 greetings from Connecticut!!!
I have not seen those bright lights at traffic lights for smartphone users yet myself, but I sure would love them! Not for my phone addiction, but as someone with rather poor eye sight 😮
5:37 when i was going to amsterdam once, these were here, they were so helpful and actually cool to see. they 100% need to implement these in different cities.
The trains around here in São Paulo, Brazil, also have those LED lights to indicate the next stop, together with some screen that also help (and show some ads). Not all the trains have it and it sometimes doesn't work properly. But it sure does help.
We also have a few traffic lights with the countdown. Some of them are more like dots in a loading bar, but those aren't reliable as the numeric countdowns.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the effort they put in the video
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the Dutch, great innovative people 🇬🇧✌

The train one at 5:44 most trains here in the UK have been retrofit with a LED matrix display that displays all the stops that the train will call at and you also get an audio version at the same time. at the end the system reads out what the next stop is. It also gives info on major connections from the next station such as airports, ferries, coach and bus. Really modern stock uses LCD screens instead
Singapore had this 10 years ago...
My 30 yr old self literally just realized those hooks are why you can see in cartoons people lifting a piano over a pulley. I always wondered why that was even a thing in cartoons. Now i know 😂

Amazing to see a London Routemaster bus in the opening! Sadly, they're no longer part of the UK's transport network... Yes, I'm a nerd; one old enough to have ridden on them when I first started working/living in London 28 years ago... 😂

Yeah, your country got lots of mentions

Yee, we smart
About the solar roads thing, it was an epic fail, they couldn't make it scale up. Instead they tried making it a "Solar sidewalk" and got a deal with some city to make it a display to show it off, and it failed really bad, panels kept failing, because they couldn't seal the panels well enough, and it wasn't making enough power, because the glass kept getting scratched up, and finally it was abandoned.
4:33 what if its too big, if you know what i mean
They’d need to make different size ones 💀
What if you’re too short?
@@be78hk different height ones
the urinal would not work at all because what if someone has a disease in their crotch area?
Or smthing else…
Thanks for sharing these clever ideas! I particularly love the trash hoops. Great way of using social engineering to keep trash in its place!
The hooks on Dutch houses are not a new idea and are not for moving furniture. The houses were originally for merchants, and the pulleys were for getting their stock to the upper floors, which were used for storage.
You are historically right, but I am pretty sure I saw a number of modern buildings in Amsterdam featuring similar installments. It may be a playful nod to historical architecture, but I imagine that practical considerations played into it as well.
Guarantee there will still be those guys or kids that's like, "check my aim yall." They'll purposely try to stand back and aim.
The casts really make a lot of sense, I wish it was everywhere, no more pencil or straws for itching ❤🎉
Countdowns on traffic lights are not just in India, they are in many European countries as well. I've been driving in most of the EU countries myself, and I've seen hundreds of these. The country I've seen the most of them, was in Bulgaria, several years ago.
They exist in the U.S. too but only on a technicality. Most pedestrian lights where I live have timers so you can tell when the light changes by looking for a pedestrian light.
in middle east too...
The elevated bus looks amazing!
5:25 the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil (where i live) also has subway leds, but not all of the "trains" have this, yet most have it

If ur a guy, it wouldn’t work sometimes if you know what I mean, remember the whole is straight in💀
4:30 that is not genius, that is a health hazard.
Kind of have anxiety. Not seeing my thing and if someone on the other side has bush cutters.
What if it gets stuck
If the rest of our society were anywhere near as intelligent as these guys,we'd be in a much better place.
But as a wise man once said: ''What ifs are just fantasies".
yeah many leaders in the past had this idea so they mass murdered milions of those they deemed unintelligent (aka those not supporting the ideas of the leader)
Plenty of people have great ideas... They just lack the ability to implement / execute them. Especially in the modern world of red tape and such...
4:25 No way am I sticking anything in a hole in a public bathroom. I did see a urinal shaped like giant lips one time........
1:56 is called modular structures, they are manufactured in the factory and then assembled on site.
5:30.... I am genuinly suprised. I live in India and have seen the light system on metro trains for my whole life. (Notice: I said 'metro' not 'railways' cuz then you do have to know your stop)
Edit: 21:16 The traffic light counter.... My mind is currently blown. I literally thought these 2 were universal but apparently not... 😂😂
Edit 2: New video idea!
Things that 'places' have which should be everywhere.
Eg. things that India has which should be everywhere
Those things might not be too uncommon in Europe and Asia, but keep in mind that Be Amazed is an American channel, and the unfortunate drawback of having 50 states that have significant independence is that most large changes are agonizingly slow to be adopted here.
My state (Massachusetts) is better than most at this, honestly sometimes I wish we were our own country
..ok. I have no idea how the USA works (obviously since I am in India 😅) but from your statements and viewpoint it sounds like you wanted USA to have India like governance?
Like all of our states have their own government but they are also controlled by 1 central government.
Ohhh... wait I just realised are the states of USA Independent and in alliance or are they like India. I have no idea.. I am not gonna say anything further but that's what I think
@@Madhav_Bhartia India doesn't have 50 states though, right? The US's government is similar to India's in many ways, I think we just have too many states with too many different viewpoints that clash with each other and make changes difficult. India has also reorganized states/union territories on multiple occasions, while in the US we haven't reorganized states a single time
Things that India should have that other countries have.
1 Trash bins.
I actually thought those subway lights were in every train on this planet lol
I thought the same as even Delhi Metro has those on the newer trains.
Yeah also in Copenhagen (Denmark), Germany, Italy and ofc the Netherlands

I have questions. Who washes those things that hold dogs? Like if they poop/pee/vomit in there? What if the dog has Claustrophobia? How does the lock work? And what do you do if the lock breaks?
And is it shatterproof glass?

I remember seeing traffic lights in the some towns in either Indiana or Illinois back in the 80's that would warn when they were about to change from yellow to red, eliminating the problem if it was likely to leave you wondering whether to hit the brakes or risk running the red.
Well, I mean, why tho. You shouldn't be passing it on yellow anyway. Yellow basically is the final warning, why'd you need a final warning for a final warning?
@@Drak_Thedpwell because there are moments where you would have to slam on your breaks if you always stop on yellow, which could cause more rear end accidents. But hey that's just a theory
@@tylerwagner1242 Well, I dunno about Infiana or Illinois, but most places have blinking green for that, and yellow turns on for 1-2 seconds anyway, when is there time to blink?
In the UK, we have three colour traffic lights, red, amber, and green. Before the lights change from red or green, the amber light tells the diver that they are about to change. Another way that the UK is well in advance of the United States.
@@Drak_Thedp interesting. I've never seen a blinking green light

The Standard Bank Building in the Johannesburg CBD was also built from the top down. It started construction in 1966 and was completed in 1968.
The joke “why did the chicken cross the road” is actually funny when you realize what it means. the answer “to get to the other side” has a double meaning. either the chicken successfully crosses the road. Or it gets hit by a car and dies. if the chicken dies. It gets to the other “side” meaning the other side of life = death. so either way whether the chicken lives or not they make it to the other side
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it was a Catholic.
I would be worried more about the friction involved in going down that skyscraper slide concept than broken bones
Why? Unless you plan to be naked for some reason.. Your cloths would help. Even if not, I'd rather have a few rug burns than broken bones.....

Not sure if we mean the same thing, but the mechanism for lifting trash cans is pretty common in Germany as well. Those underground trash containers shown in the clip aren't nearly as common here as they are in the Netherlands, but they do exist at recycling stations in some inner cities. 🚲🗑️A “blikvanger” used to mean something entirely different.
Blik means several things: 1. the actual material blik (some sort of aluminium), 2. a can, 3. a look (what you do with your eyes).
Vanger means catcher.
Blikvanger was only used for items (or persons) that were a treat for the eyes, same as the English “eyecatcher”.
But the inventors of the basket trash can 🗑️ who catches trash (including cans) did a great job by also using an already existing word for it and give it its literally other meaning: cancatcher.
Well done!

Every single time I see one of you’re videos, it reminds me that a minuscule amount of people are actually worth keeping alive.
Most of those narrow Amsterdam buildings were built in the 17th and 18th century as warehouses. The hooks were meant for lifting goods like spices, fabrics and whatever the VOC (East India Company) imported. That is also why most of the buildings aren't fully straight. Also the ships back then could easily access the canals to deliver and pickup the merchandise. These hooks were already there when these warehouses were transformed into regular housing.
i certainly agree with 5:21 especially with busses because some people like to have headphones on or like to play games like me and ive missed my stop plenty of times because of this, if like next to every seat or even built in to the chairs in front of you, it would make things alot simpler than just relying on hearing the stop your coming to, or relying on knowing how long it takes and just trying to guess where you are. i love music games, i play the game Arcaea on the bus all the time (sometimes for the attention ngl because people get amazed by it and ask me what the gsme is called) and im able to look up unless im playing something i havent played before (it still updates despite story mode being complete AND they make an april fools song every year) so usually i can look up and still play, or i can see behind my phone while im still playing, but what if i couldnt, then id always be missing busses and shit despite each song having a limit of 2 minutes and 30 seconds., id miss my stop every time i tae the bus. but if i could just look slightly away from my phone, it would save me time cause then i could just pause the game and get ready to get off istead of waiting for the ai voice to say my stop.
You did restate your claim in the body paragraphs 💀
Even if it is just a theory, that elevated bus looks cool.
4:10 the D-hole urinal. Thanks, no thanks.
Honestly the most needed element for urinals is probably just a small area extending from the bottom outwards to between the legs, then the old men can drip all they want and not have the floor messed up.
