The story about the man rescuing both the dad and his kid from drowning is mindboggling! Truly a one in the million chances!
Fast one

sounds like a Cape Fear type of set up. mmmmm

Wait until he rescues the grandchild as well.
A red winged blackbird dove at my head repeatedly while I was trying to retrieve a frisbee from tall grass. Only once I pointed to the frisbee and said I would mind its babies, did it allow me to slowly proceed - but not before it repositioned itself from up behind me, to in front of me on a low branch and watched me very closely. I swear, it called to others who took position on the lines above and spaced themselves out 20ft apart until we were clear of the field. Everyone who saw it had a good laugh. I had a new found respect for birds.
Yeah, they're super aggressive here in BC, Canada. I was picking wild catnip at a nearby pond and they have lots of nests in the tall brush. One started dive bombing me and I held up a handful of catnip and it actually stopped. I was pretty dumbfounded by that. I was able to fill my bucket and leave in peace. 😂
Did you know it's actually the males that protect the nest? Also, it probably stopped because it saw you staring at it but good story either way
Thank you for the clarification 👍 It definitely saw me look at it every time I would attempt to advance then it would swoop down.
@@swil893 ya, once you have your back to it, that's when they'll attack. I had a couple attacks last year which is why I looked into them more. It's nice that you were respectful though and there's nothing wrong with letting them know things, even if they don't understand. Showing a strong but calm demeanor is everything ❤️
Man they are just like crows but worser
The one with the names really got me. My sons first 2 names give him the initials PC, and he grew up to be an IT technician.
Is he a Gaming PC?
As for nominative determinism, I have a few: (I’m from the Philippines btw)
- A male doctor whose name is Dr. Doktora
- A metal worker with a family name of Panday (Filipino term for blacksmith)
- As mentioned in the video, A Cardinal named Jaime Cardinal Sin
- A family where the female members are discriminated or excluded as their family name is Bayag (Filipino term for scrotum)
- A legless guy with a family name Walker
There are a lot. These are all I can recall.
Non nominative determinism:
Missouri's previous Governor:
Matt Blunt- a staunch anti marijuana politician! Also coincidentally blunt about his position on Marijuana, so maybe both actually, don't know if they have a term for that. Multi Nominative Determinism?
My Art teacher is called Mr Drew 🤯
@@SakuraLuckyStar Drew Durnil I guess so, he's from California
We in Finland have a couple of well-known people with suitable surnames: botanist Arno Kasvi = plant, and meteorologist Pekka Pouta = "dry weather".
exactly; my old math teacher’s last name is Matthys.

18:49 Story time... when I was looking for a doctor who would take my insurance, I found a doctor who looked almost exactly like my older sister's friend who is a urology technician. Her doppelganger happened to be in a different medical field. 😮
after reading this i clicked the red bar randomly and it went to 18.49
Imagine that its actually possible to get arrested by Outlaw, prosecuted by Sue Yoo, sentenced to death by judge Judge and have your last rite performed by Cardinal Sin.
All we need is an undertaker named Graves and it would be perfect.
I knew a guy with the last name Diggs... he should have teamed up with Graves.
@@matthewcox7985 lol we need 3 of them, preferably brothers who married into each of these names: Spade, Diggs, Graves.
What does Sue Yoo names mean?
Actually, it's the male (or father) red-winged blackbird that protects the nest and goes after people and animals getting too close. So in this case, nothing is stronger than a father's love
I got one for you.
My great great grandfather from France, Germany, England were all within 2 miles of eachother in one battle in WW1 in 1916.
Respect to Mr. Xu even at 80 he is doing heroism
mad respect for him
its like the guy who did not shoot hitler in ww1 and then realized who he turned out to be after he saved his life. ohhh ok not the same thing.☺

I prefer millions to one coincidences, shame a lot have no concept of how rare it is

I know of 3 cases of nominative determinism form my own personal experience. I had an English Teacher called Mrs. English, a Home Ec Teacher called Mrs. Buntin and I saw a Rheumatologist once called Karen Walker-Bone.
9:05 Prior to Battle of Kursk, during preparations, Soviet army recruited the best anti-tank artillery gunners and they had the intensive training to the point they could hit a particular spot on the tank. One of the most practised shot was - into tank's gun barrel. About their effectiveness during the actual combat is not that well documented, which is no surprise when we know how that battle evolved into pure chaos...
The gymnast story had me near tears. That... Was beautiful. The paramedic hero one brought me even closer to tears man this video got me so hopeful and emotional... ❤
How about the fact that the parents ditched the disabled child? Not cool.
There no way I’m ever booking an appointment with this Dick Chopp guy😂
Re the ring, I can also tell a first hand account on this from my mom: We went to the same holiday home for years. When the owners retired due to age, they gave my parents a few examples of the flowers my mom likes so much. We drove home, my mom (successfully) planted them, but found a ring wrapped around one of their roots. Called the old owners, was told it was a "backup wedding ring" the wife had worn during World War 2 and lost in that very garden some time in the late 40s. This happened in the late 90s.
Wow
Well I have one story
During primary school 3rd grade, a student accidentally forgot to fix the bottle in his bag properly. So the bottle fell downstairs and hit my head, nothing serious ofcourse. He apologized and we pretty much had no contact with eachother.(We were 3 grades apart I think) Skipping to first year of highschool, I joined a group that teaches elderly to play board games, there was one student that likes speaking English as much as me, since we are in Hong Kong it is quite uncommon. Even though my school is an English school, each time after school we like chatting with eachother and became friends(BUT NO SHIPPING US OK I DON'T LIKE THOSE). Soon our mothers decided to meet, then one day my mother told me something I will never forget. That student was also the student that accidentally dropped the bottle on my head 3 years ago. And we met by chance in an activity we both joined.
How much of a coincidence is that? --Erin
A big coincidence
Wow I read it it all
Another example of nominative determinism is my sister. Her name translates from Hebrew to mean Song or To Sing. Before she knew this, she loved to sing, and took a couple classes for it. Even after she found out what her name meant, she kept on singing, and even tried to get a major in it! To this day, she loves to sing. She truly earned her name. Here's to you, big sis.
Sue- yue and Dick Chop really got me 😂😂
LoL fr tho
A mosquito can fly, but a fly can never mosquito.
Underrated comment😂😂
Very funny
That's not true, where I live, flies mosquito all the time.
An elephant can have fleas, but a flea can't have elephants.
A smoker smokes a cigarette, but a cigarette can never smoke a smoker.
we need some more Darwin award winners
Agreed! Those are my favorites.

I remember me and my brother caught a click beetle in our yard. We looked at it for a bit and watched it then decided to release it. I said "wouldn't it be funny when we release it a bird immediately grabs it." We release it and it flies towards a part of the house where small birds can enter the attic, a bird comes flying in, grabs the beetle, and enters the attic within a second. I start laughing but my brother looked heartbroken. Funniest coincidence yet.
i was once at a houseparty where at a specific time we were five random people sitting on a sofa (one of the others was my stepsister, the others i didn't know up to then). we chatted and got talking about birthdates. and, as EXTREMELY unlikely as it was, we FIVE people shared only TWO birthdays (three on january 5 and the other two on june 28). i mean, that is statistically more unlikely than winning the lottery and yet it happened, we thought we were in the matrix FOR SURE!:)
broo my birthday’s on june 29☠
I've never seen a compilation so full of surprises! Truly unforgettable! 💥
My favourite example of nominative determinism is Colin Bass, who is a member of the prog rock band Camel, and who plays, well, bass.
I ran into my doppelganger at dollar tree once. It was so awkward. We mostly just looked at each other in line.
I bought this shirt at value village with my grandmother and I was in the car looking at what we got. Didn't realize the shirt had one bra ring and the other side didn't. I was livid. Before we even got home we wanted to go get fast food and my grandmother comes back with a bra ring she found out front the store 😂😂
When I learned how to drive my father said "Just remember: You heal. The car doesn't." Thanks for the vote of confidence dad!
That's pretty bizarre about the names and occupations of people. I took up playing drums in the early 80s and it was my drumming teacher that said my name was an awesome coincidence to the hobby I gravitated to. My last name is "Tapping". 😂 I didn't even think about that until the teacher mentioned it.
That's awesome!😄

Kind of like dying to a cougar in the Mr Phillips mission in gta 5, or maybe getting shot by a rocket by an npc when they ar eprogrammed to miss, almost failing you a speedrun
The Name thing is interesting. I was named Dylan after Bob Dylan the awkward singing mellow pothead. And i am a awkward Person (non-singer) Mellow pothead. And my Brother Jesse was named after Jesse James and like james he was a badass outlaw that did his own thing and never looked back (luckily never did anything badly illegal :P) but we always joke around that we were perfectly named to our personalities.
Fun fact, when surnames became a thing, most families chose to name themselves by their profession, which is how the names such as Smith, Baker, Fisher, and Cook etc came to be
Some years ago, a woman whose first name was Merry (not Mary) married a man whose family name was Christmas. To make the coincidence odder, she worked in an office where people answered the phone by stating their names instead of saying, "Hello." Imagine someone saying, "Merry Christmas," in July. A P.S.: In my entire life, only on one occasion did I meet anyone named Christmas. By coincidence, it was because I was eating lunch at a restaurant where a Christmas family reunion was taking place. I met a lot of Christmases that day.
The only trait from my dad... grew a beard at 15😂 20 now and get told I belong raiding ships at sea lol

This is one series we won’t get tired of, alongside the Darwin awards.
The Javelin one, it does look like it's going through the guys head at first, but once you see his left eye in the shadow, it permanently breaks the illusion.
My last name in Chinese is 史, which means annals, history, and a title given to historians. I have a huge interest in history, and I only figured out this connection lately.
I need to go check out my dirty ahh mind because i read "annals" so wrong, a single n makes a difference, people

I hiked the pacific crest trail in 2021. While at a re-supply spot a family of my hiking companions and I asked to sit with a lone man at a picnic table. The family had an uncle who had led a notable polar exploration with ecological findings presented to congress.. This was in the late 80s i believe. Turns out the guy we sat down with had been the pilot for that expedition. He remembered all kinds of details and included a phone call to the uncle. One of the most amazing experiences on the trail in the middle of the wilderness....

I have one story that could be apart of the next series. So a few weeks ago I was over at my friends apartment. We both live in the same complex. But I gotta tell ya this ain’t no ordinary apartment. With that let’s rewind a few months back. When I first moved in to the complex, that same exact unit had caught fire, and the apartment next door had damaged. I could tell because the inside of the apartment had different details in it. The floors, the stairs, even up to the doors and lights. And my apartment has a black door, the stairs are still carpeted and the kitchen has a chandelier. It seems that they had moved in after us. But I was shocked to understand that I had been standing inside the apartment that caught fire a few months before.

I liked it too.
I’m only at the 2nd story this far. That is beautiful. In 1999, I was at the bar of a “gentleman’s club” when 2 guys sat on the stools beside. Doppelgänger couldn’t even come close to explaining how this one guy looked so familiar. We had worked on the Alaskan pipeline many years prior. And then we were sitting 4,000mi away at a titty bar in Selma, NC…
We were staying in the forest in a travel trailer. It turned out the area had a lot of mosquitoes. We noticed as the mosquitoes landed on the door’s screen yellow jackets would land on them, stinging them, and carrying them away.
