Each and every 70s,80s, and 90s frontman was inspired by Robert Plant. Imagine inspiring even the legends and be still humble. Robert Plant (prime voice) was a phenomenon in music history that'll never be repeated.
I would disagree, zeppelin wasn’t around until 68, and didn’t release anything until 69. So there are probably a handful of legends from the 70’s who weren’t directly influenced by him. He’s clearly very talented and well respected. But i wouldn’t say that every frontman after 69 was influenced by him.
I think the craziest thing about Robert plant is the way he speaks about his voice. He once referred to himself as a wedding singer who's lucky to be around talented people! This coming from one of the greatest and most influential front men in rock history
One of the craziest parts is that some of these were live vocals! Its one thing to hit notes like that in the studio and its way harder to do it on stage
Hitting the notes isn't hard if you know how to utilise your falsetto/mixed voice. It's the harmonic content of those high notes and how full they sound which makes that sound so amazing.
GOAT. Just wish he never lost that pre 1972 range. I think I read once he had something injected into his throat to open it up because he was ill before a show. Someone get me a god dam time machine 😭
Plant is Nr.1 male rock vocalist. Someone needs proof - September 6 1970 Honolulu afternoon show (strongest Immigrant Song vocals imho) Nice channel by the way - subscribed)
Robert Plant is by far the Greatest Male Vocalist. He Inspired so Many, as each Member of Led Zeppelin did. With Bonham's Drumming and Robert High Notes are Gifts From The Gods. Great examples you have to show. Beyond Amazing...Filled with Heart and Soul. It's no wonder Percy and Bonzo came from the same Group, Band Of Joy. ❤
The Greatest? Seriously? That's just, like, your opinion, man. Sure, Plant had his inimitable moments, but... So did Ian Gillan and Rob Halford (from the same era) and Chris Cornell and my personal favorite: Mike Patton. Same goes for Bonham. He was a genius but... Okay, that's enough.
I love Robert Plant!! There will never be another one like him! His vocals are just so beautiful. So good! So perfect! I have so much respect and love for this artist, I can’t even begin to describe it! Thank you for sharing this video with us!
I love your RUclips channel Marc! I just discovered it and can’t turn away. I do not have any social media accounts (other than RUclips), and email. I am hoping SO MUCH that you read this request. Harry Nilsson. If you haven’t heard of him (I’d be surprised), Harry was considered the greatest male vocalist of his time. I appreciate vocal talents and God given gifts and I think you do as well. I would love to hear/see your take on Harry Nilsson. Thank you for this awesome channel Marc!
There is an old Egyptian woman called umm kulthum she was an unbelievable singer she even inspired Robert Plant (There is a video of him where he talks about her) and Bono Vocally You should check her out
Love the channel man. I need videos on James LaBrie from Dream Theater, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Marc Hudson from Dragonforce, but most of all Michael Kiske from Helloween
These are great choices, and I love your commentary! It might be worth noting that these vocal clips are likely all from early Zeppelin shows, as I believe Plant lost his insane highs, or at least his ability to control them, as the years went on. If you compare his live vocals from 1971 or earlier to those of, say 1975 and on, you might notice that difference. In recent interviews, Plant himself has been self-critical and even self-conscious about some of his performances with Zep, and I believe it's one reason he has refused to reunite the band (the other is the loss of John Bonham).
I think he was actually howling love calls, like a moose in the woods howling for a mate. All the girls heard it and responded. It was all gut level, primeval.
How funny, I happen to be wearing my 'Stay Chill' T-shirt right now. Perfect attire for a 'chill' vid. Congrats on the thirty thou'. Plant was so sexy back in his day. His voice has held up amazingly over the years, I love everything about it. You FLOORED me with 'straight from the balls'!!!!!!!!!
@@lyndoncmp5751 Led Zeppelin is my most beloved band, Deep Purple is second. I don't make comparisons, like “this is better than that”, I just listen and enjoy their songs. I think they're both amazing, they're both charismatic, good-looking and have a strong presence on stage but they're different styles. I can't imagine - for example - Gillan singing Kashmir or Stairway To Heaven. Or Smoke On The Water or Highway Star with Plant. Besides these two there are many other excellent singers with different voices and styles, thank God! So the musical world is more varied and fun. (and don't get mad, it's just my opinion)
@@lyndoncmp5751 I love Plant's early caterwauling and nutty blasts of voice, but early Ian Gillan was incredibly powerful and soulful as well in the same relative key as well.

Specially singers from kingdom come , billy squire...and hundreds more..
He created Guns and roses when he sang "The Ocean".
And indirectly forced all rock bands in the 70s to have a Plant-like vocal.
And Robert Plant aspired to sing like Janis Joplin.

Damn that’s interesting. Curious about the name of the substance injected. And yeah his voice before 72 is from a different planet man
Correct. That happened after a concert in Australia in which he lost his voice. A doctor gave him an injection of adrenaline in February 1972.
