@@12point131I can’t comment on 2yrs from now…but I’ve had my Sierra EV for 2mo 5,500mi, it’s been incredible. I would be very disappointed if someone made me go back to my V8 F150. Range wise I’m getting 440 highway and pushing 500 mixed driving. Tows farther than my Ford did on 26gal.
The range on the Silverado is a game changer for EV drivers. I have the 4WT and 500 plus miles just makes me forget about all the EV charging worry. Pair that with 350 kWh DCFC and what a road trip vehicle…
Love where the ranges are going! Own a 21 model y which honestly does just fine for 99% of my driving…own a farm so this would be nice but I’ll wait five more years for the prices to come down
I actually really enjoyed this perspective from a non-EV driver. The way “normal” drivers think about things is really important when designing these cars, and glad to see that Chevy did a fairly good job here. Very cool to see. As someone becomes more familiar with EV driving, and in particular long distance EV driving, the things that are important will change (in particular charging performance will become a huge deal). Though we can’t lose sight of what is important to someone coming from an ICE vehicle and what it takes to be comfortable using an EV.
It's $400-$500 bucks to have an electrician install a 240v outlet. Plus whatever GM charges for the charging accessories you had in the beginning of the video. It's less than $100 in parts to install the outlet for those DIYers out there. It'll add 15-20 miles of range per hour of charging with a 240v outlet.
I have the Denali Edition 1 and yes you can use the Tesla Superchargers you need the adapter which is about $300 bucks. Also, the charger you had should be dual-level. The buyer needs to install an industrial NEMA plug not the Lowes dryer plug and your vehicle will be charged overnight to 80% recommended for daily driving. Yes, that 120V is just to get you over until you have 1 installed and you don't need to buy a home charger unless you want one hardwired.

Joe, I have a Bolt EUV. I believe that your 110 home outlet (Level 1) charges at around 4 miles of charge per hour; the 220 outlet (Level 2) charges at about 25 miles per hour. The new battery packs from GM charge a bit faster (5 and 31), probably due to better charging programming on the vehicle's computer. That might be different for a 200kw battery pack, as my EUV only had a 65kw battery pack. I just thought I'd throw this out there. Love the truck! Enjoy the ride!

Thanks for this video. I live in San Diego,California and I have relatives that live in the northern part of Arizona. I have also seen the Silverado EV and I must say I am impressed with how it looks and drives. But, I am still a little on the fence about EV's in general, but this one, I will purchase. Only way to really see if I like EV's or not. I am sort of curious about the mileage or charging. Leaving on a full charge from my house in San Diego to Kingman,Arizona and what I would have left over to drive on.
I really want to see one of these range drives that are not in nice weather, in the south, with nicer temps. Get a Fargo winter, in January, snow, dark, cold...

Great (Joe and Lori Road Trip) video, you guys are the best ! Elon Musk had all the Tesla charging stations fixed to work on GM's, Fords and Rivian EV vehicles in September, Musk said allowing non-Tesla people to use Tesla charging stations was "the right thing to do for all EV owners". I read that Nissan, Volvo, Polestar, and Mercedes EV's will be added soon !
Yeah, but Ford's been selling them for quite a while. I think the longer gestation for the GMs gave them a better product but the market for EVs is developing so fast. Something even cooler is lurking immediately offstage.
You #CAN use a Tesla SC V3 as of like a month ago. Please update your video as I think that’s a pretty big deal/ big improvement that has happened (well before this video was aired). I also don’t think it’s a 25. All First Editions are ‘24s. I own the RST and it’s a great truck, especially given the 440-460 mile range, super cruise, and 10k towing. The only Zonk to me is the lack of Apple CarPlay.
Are the roads even open the whole way? Or the charging stops? The storms knocked nearly everything out. And...as of roughly 3 weeks ago, the SC network was opened up to GM EVs. Get that adapter Joe! Or hit up a magic dock station.
These may be 3 dumb questions. What is the life expectancy of an electric vehicle (EV) battery? Is there any maintenance? What is the replacement cost?
Taking out of the system Apple CarPlay is a huge mistake,I have a 2024 Silverado ,I still have CarPlay, google maps is ok but the problem I was facing is that after the trial google maps was unavailable, I guess my question is,since they took out CarPlay do you have to pay google maps?
Great truck but the problem is the same as usual.. Absurdly high price.. Up here in Canada the 3 Silverado EV models go for $79k, $84k and $121k for the RST.. That's Porsche territory level pricing.
Starting to see the work truck version here in CA being used by CalTrans on the highways. Will probably see the EV Dodge Charger replacing the current Charger by CA Highway Patrol if they ever get built and have a long enough range. Another great video.
The u s really gotta do something about vehicle sizes & weight theres no reason many of these are elephant on wheels where some are fast for some odd reason example the cybertruck hummer ev this and more
Does the Silverado EV tell you where available charging stations are? I know with my brother’s 2024 Kia EV6, that it does tell you where the available charging stations are.
Quite frankly, this would make for a great GM promo vid. Well done! If I ever save enough to trade in my 2017 Silverado for one of these, you've piqued my interest.

Well, he mentioned he was going from Clearwater to Orlando and back by I-4. A quick Google search would suggest the miles traveled were roughly 200-220, depending on where he was specifically. And if it's got about 450 miles of range fully charged, while using roughly 42% of the battery for the trip, this would suggest that estimate is in the ballpark. EDIT: oh and given all that, 23% charge remaining would then suggest he's left with roughly 100 miles of range after getting back home.
I thought the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST would have Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, which allows it to charge at Tesla Superchargers...
those wheels are sick. No apple car play is a major zonk and not enough charging stations is another major zonk. Maybe they thought they would not sell that many. That goes to show you that ICE engines are here to stay and not going anywhere soon
