      I mean if ur a causal player then this game is a great game bcs u don’t need hands to do well and can look at flashy animation despite only spam left clicking
      Don’t say I’m saying this bcs I’m in early game, I’m rank 40 and done Shiyu defense up to floor 14 with only 1 level 50 characters which is Ellen and everyone else 40 and all A rank characters since my luck is sh*t and got 2 copies of Rina and she does not fit in my teams(Ellen + Anby + Soukaku, Corin + Piper + Lucy)
      Endgame is just stat check, still the same enemies with same AI meaning they don’t get more aggressive, they only got tankier and hit harder, but doesn’t matter bcs they are still sluggish, and to get S rank, u simply need to play long enough to farm mats to level up your characters and engines properly + discs that have the correct set and correct main stats

    One BIG thing you didn’t mention is core passives. These are something everyone is ignoring but for most characters they are pretty vital.
    To anyone reading this comment, every character has a straight passive that gives them often extra damage, stun, anomaly build up etc so long as there is another member of the team that shares either the same element or faction. I’d argue this is more important than a lot that was said in the video because, again, it’s often just more damage. This will also be more important as the game goes on as we get more characters and factions.
    In fairness, you were doing this in the video, but I think if you are building a team, especially a rainbow one, you gotta consider who is on the team and how vital their core passives is.

    • @meco7956
      @meco7956 Месяц назад +4

      also good to add some units have specialized core passives. Example: Rina's core passive gives electric damage and shock buffs, but her pen ratio buff is universal, so you can slot her in any team that isn't electric focused just for her pen ratio buff

      @smashmonkey6304 Месяц назад

      @@meco7956 That’s true too. Another example is Lucy since her Core passive just buffs the pigs. So if you only want the damage buff, she can go onto other teams.

      @@Drunkendrakon that’s my favorite thing about ZZZ. At least so far, disregarding how good they may or may not be, the A rank are all still uniquely FUN, and so far only a few of them have S rank characters that are basically just better versions of them. And even then, they still have their uses and/or play differently.
      I know this is partly bc the roster is so small rn but I hope the game stays that way.
      In fact, this may be a hot take but I kinda prefer the idea of A ranks being more fun to play and S ranks being stronger but easier to play/slightly more boring. But maybe that’s just me.

    Iyo, your vid totally VALIDATED what I've been doing since I hit CH2. I've been building teams with the order of Stun-Support-DPS, and when there are trial stages, it's always DPS-Stun-Support (so I always switch to Stun as soon as I'm able to move)
    Then there's the whole switch-cancel/switch-tech/whatever you're calling it. Starting from the time I fought the CH2 final boss and got into CH3 with those floating mobs, I've been using that WAY more often to both avoid damage and reposition, and was just starting to think about using it for combos and energy regen... and then you said this is totally a thing!

      @@episode4882There are combos, but they're not anything ground breaking.
      Like a fun one with Lycaon/Billy/Ben is
      Lycaon: SP, ATK1, Dash ATK, ATK1, Dash ATK (loop until EX) Hold EX
      Immediately switch to Billy and SP
      Switch to Ben
      Dash ATK, switch to Lycaon -
      Loop as you like.
      It's nothing crazy or ground breaking, but combos exist, they're just kind of locked to only a few characters that have launchers.
      Switch tech is also important for them to work, and they're more like loops than combos.

    learning what Assault does, playing Piper can actually mitigate the need for a Stun character because of how fast she triggers Assault. You can basically play Piper, Rina/Lucy and Grace with her to maximize Disorder. I also learned from another video that the damage of Disorder can vary depending on the order of the Anomaly build up and which agent triggers it. I still don't quite understand it but from what i was able to comprehend, if the strongest agent triggers the first Anomaly, the damage of the Disorder will scale with that agent
    So basically, you can dance around with Grace and Rina to accumulate Shock before sending in Piper to spin-to-win and trigger Assault + Disorder. Dealing both massive damage and Daze. If done well enough, it might go straight into a chain attack which is pretty neat. The main problem I had playing Grace is that she's really reliant on someone else to inflict Daze. Plus the fact that her damage is a slowburn as most of it comes from Shocking enemy, so i sometimes get in situation where i pretty much have to play perfect dodges over perfect dodges (i don't have Rina to help accumulating Shock). That said, i'm still very new to her kit and Anomaly build up in general and the Ice team definitely spoiled me af when it comes to dishing up fast damage
    another note in the topic of Anomaly build up, i read a random tooltip in a loading screen that enemies gain Anomaly RES after every Build Up. So it gets harder and harder to build Anomaly. Prolly why Anomaly Mastery and Proficiency is a stat

    • @jaegybomb
      @jaegybomb Месяц назад +1

      Another thing about Grace is anomaly damage scales with level so they actually get double scaling later on from the stats from leveling up and then again for the levels themselves.
      From what I understand disorder in a nutshell instantly ends the current damage over time for full damage it would have done plus about 40% and then applies the new status. Then you can switch back and disorder the new status and on and on.

    • @ryry9780
      @ryry9780 Месяц назад

      The reason why Disorder hits differently is because it does different things depending on what the predecent status effect is.
      Burn: procs all remaining ticks on Burn at once
      Shock: procs all remaining ticks + extra damage equivalent to 6 ticks
      Corruption: same as Burn
      Freeze: 500% of ATK as damage
      Assault: 500% of ATK as damage
      Obviously it's still subject to the damage formula for anomaly attributes, so anomaly proficiency, stunned state, res reduction, penetration, etc will matter.

    There is tons of little difference you notice when diving into character's kits. Example, Soukaku quick assist triggers off Fly the Flag, which does NOT require the EX special, making her the only character that does not require energy for QA.
    Side note, you never covered Disorder in this video, though it seemed like you were. Makes anomalies even more complicated since it performs differently based on which anomaly they had applied first.

  • @momsaccount4033
    @momsaccount4033 Месяц назад +2

    One thing I want to ask is the difference between Disorder triggered by a DoT Anomaly and a Disorder triggered by Freeze or Assault, specifically Assault because one video I found said that the Assault -> Disorder damage is calculated by Assault’s Flinch effect which does not make sense to me because Flinch doesn’t do any damage, it’s just a debuff. If the Assault Disorder damage is scaled off of the Anomaly Proficiency of the character who initially applied Assault, then this could mean that Assault could potentially be better than a DoT Disorder since DoT Disorder simply frontloads all of the DoT that would have been applied and applies it into a single damage instance. You’re still getting the same amount of damage either way. Whereas Assault Disorder would be extra damage on top of the already existing Assault damage. I have no idea how Freeze Disorder works (or if Freeze could even cause Disorder, I don’t have enough Ice characters to test this myself) so this is something I’d like clarification on

    So Defense characters are more like pseudo-Stun characters actually. They efficiently build Daze and can be used as a replacement to a Stun character. They will come with additional utility as well. Think of Defense characters as defensive Dazers and Stun characters as offensive Dazers. A Stun character is going to have higher theoretical output, more efficient rotations damage-wise, and can be almost as devastating in attacks as an Attacker (Lycaon, Koleda, Anby). Defense characters are methodical and situational, but under the right circumstances will offer buffs to your team or themselves to be very good at staying on-field (Ben's enhanced parry and shield building). You could probably get away with a Defense-Anomaly-Anomaly composition, however in your standard Attacker-Stun-Support, you'd be sacrificing quite a lot of damage the Support synergy would provide the Attacker. It would be better to do Attacker-Defense-Support and note that your rotations will be slower as Defense characters Daze well, but not as fast as Stun characters.

    You’re my favorite ZZZ RUclipsr bro. I’ve always wanted to learn action and fighting games enough to be able to comfortably and knowledgeably do the crazy DMC and KH3 combos I’ve seen, and to just better understand the deeper fundamentals of understanding fighting games: how combos work, fully utilizing a character’s kit, how to use assists effectively, etc (I grew up Smash blood and SF6 is the first fighting game I’ve ever tried to learn seriously).
    And I’ve never understood how to get into labbing; even in Smash it’s just always seemed daunting to me and I’ve never known what to do or how to start. How on earth people find the crazy tech they do has always been beyond me
    All that to say, ZZZ seems like the absolute perfect game for me in terms of learning the basics of those aspects of action and fighting games. And your videos have been doing a phenomenal job of tying both of those genres together through ZZZ, which is the exact perspective I’ve been looking for. You’re even helping me understand the mindset of a labber, which is what I’ve been too scared to attempt seeking out for so long.
    But ZZZ seems like a perfect game to learn with: simple enough to get the hang of but complex enough to enjoy learning as you get more into it. Perfect timing with MVC2 on the horizon too, which is another team-based game that I’m STOKED to pick up and learn for the first time 😖.
    You the best, man. Your perspective is exactly what I need for this game and I do hope you keep making videos looking at the game this way. Really excited for the future of this game, and hopefully I’ll be able to figure out some of my own stuff and even transfer those fundamentals to SF6, MVC2, and whatever action game I play next.

Also I think defense characters give shield, and I havent tested this yet, but i think the shield also works as a flinch resist (so for example Koleda is really prone to flinch on her basic atk, but Hoyo hinting ben to be in the team for buffs was sort of low key saying his shield helps Koleda finish her animations without being flinched also same with Anton so he doesnt get knocked out of his lmb charge)

    Jeez the yapping. So disorganized. Did you even have bullet points going into this vid?
    TL;DW:
    - Team setup: Stun-Support-DPS (1-2-3)
    - On-field characters can give some energy to off-field
    - You can switch on longer animations
    - Specific character kits are important to play them right
    - Anomalies have interesting effects
    Literally ONE of those points is about teambuilding.
    Nowhere did you talk purposefully about core passives and additional passives, which ones are important and which ones you can probably ignore, the comparative value of stun vs disorder vs support (as you usually can't have all three, with I think one exception), what characters can give quick assist on-demand vs which need more energy/fieldtime to do so, a list of notable synergies on offer at the moment....
    Possibly the furthest thing from a "comprehensive guide to mastering teambuilding" that I could think of. Oof.

      It is true that one dps, one Stun, and one support is a good setup. It isn't the only way to play. Stunning does help a lot. You get a damage increase, swap parry bar, and the foe stops attacking. This is strong, but I have seen people doing just fine with 2 dps + support, support-anomoly-dps, even 2 anomaly support. Heck I bet we will see people running defence more often in the teams as time goes on and we have more to rep the role than Ben Bigger.

    • @shiroeikami8467
      @shiroeikami8467 Месяц назад

      The order of team is support > DPS > stun. It's so assist triggered by support skill send you to DPS and when you need to parry, you go to stunner. Physical anomaly(Piper) can replace DPS, defense(Ben) can replace stun, support is a flex slot. Double anomaly (disorder) doesn't need stunner.

  • @Gav_EXE
    @Gav_EXE Месяц назад +31

    Bruh, this video is atrociously misleading and uninformative.
    Teams consist primarily of a Stunner, Support, and Attacker (in that order). Other roles can be swapped in where they fit best, but you should always pay attention to each character's Faction and Attribute. Characters that are paired with at least one member from a matching Faction or Attribute gain enhancements to their core passive. So, when building a team, you want to make sure each member is receiving these benefits. You don't have to do this, but your character(s) will underperform.
    Juggling has no benefit. If you care for style, you do you, but saying that juggled enemies are helpless is massively misleading. Enemies that can be juggled will flinch on being hit by any attack, and once you start flinching them, they are helpless until you stop. Juggling has nothing to do with it, and enemies that can be flinched/juggled are essentially trash-mobs that will die quickly anyway.
    Nekomata gains no benefit from back-attacks. Nekomata's signature weapon and her C1 do, but base Nekomata doesn't. Stop leaving out that extremely important bit of information. (This also has nothing to do with team building.)
    To expressly state it (because it's not stated in the video): you regen more energy when actively attacking with a character. If you want to build meter for a specific character, use them. Simple. (Again, nothing to do with team building.)
    Also not expressly stated in the video: when you perfect dodge, your cooldown for dodging doesn't apply, allowing you to continue dodging through enemy attacks as long as you keep timing it properly. If you dodge recklessly, you will be caught and punished by enemy combos, so learn attack timings. (What even is team building?)
    And while coverage of all the statuses is nice, you expressly state you're covering Disorder and then completely ignore it. To put it simply: Disorder equates to dealing more burst damage (the calculation for it is complicated). A team made up of two characters that can quickly apply a status (like Anomaly characters) can make good use of this. However, just know there is no character that buffs or directly effect Disorder as a specific playstyle. It's just a benefit you can receive for varying your team's damage types.

    • @azylan
      @azylan Месяц назад +19

      i feel like this video was misguided, it was supposed to be about "teambuilding" but he mostly talked about combos. he briefly discussed the roles of different characters but didn't actually explain how that was important. i don't think he even mentioned synergy bonus, which is vitally important to some characters.
      not only is juggling not useful, but it's completely redundant because if you want enemies to be "completely helpless", just stun them. stunning enemies doesn't just make them helpless but it also massively increases the damage that enemies take. he didn't really explain why adding a stunner to your team is so important, he kinda just glossed over it like he assumed the viewer knows already.
      for that matter he didn't even explain why having a support character is important, or how to choose a support character, which would probably be really helpful to the playerbase right now. (a LOT of people are using lucy on their fire team when soukaku would actually be better unless your lucy has a high mindscape level, because soukaku can activate her damage buff more easily and with a higher uptime.)
      he mentions anomaly characters and spends so much time discussing what anomalies do, but for what? how do we build a team based around anomalies? he never goes into this but it would be such an easy section to make. either 2 anomalies of different elements + a stun or support, OR dps and stunner/support of the same element + anomaly of a different element.
      i feel like iyo is trying to understand this game from the standpoint of a traditional fighting game player, but this game is nothing like a traditional fighting game so he's completely misunderstood how to guide people. (it's really more like hi3, pgr, or wuwa, but you can tell he's obviously never played any of them.) he goes into this section at the end where he says he doesn't think that there are any specific combos or rotations that are always the best, but the fact of the matter is, there ARE, because there are certain combos or rotations that will maximize DPS/daze/anomaly depending on the character. using anby as an example, i can guarantee you that--
      basic 1 - basic 2 - basic 3 - skill - basic 4 (activates thunderbolt)
      is far better at accumulating daze than
      basic 1 - basic 2 - switch to DPS and use basic 1 - switch to anby and use basic 1 - basic 2 - skill
      because the first combo actually utilizes her quick skill after the 3rd basic attack, and doesn't waste time resetting anby's combo, and uses her abilities that have the highest daze multiplier, those being her skill and her thunderbolt. telling people they can use whatever combo they want and perform well is just misinformation.
      and then what do combos even have to do with teambuilding in the first place??

      @@azylanHonestly yeah. Like I understand where he's coming from to an extent.
      There's more character depth in ZZZ mechanically than almost any other gacha game and it does have some character action elements to it.
      There's some merit to building characters into specializations that aren't "optimal" for their role via the disc system, but it's very MMO rotation based in later content and requires specific builds.
      Btw juggling enemies is dope, and difficult... so it's not pointless - it's pointless towards in game progression, but it's not pointless if you enjoy it, and it does take some thought, and execution to make them happen so shouldn't be handwaved just because it doesn't result in S ranks and chrome.
      The game has depth beyond what gacha typically does - but it's walled off by dps checks which turns it into typical number crunching grinding nonsense.

    Is there any advantage to juggling in Shiyu Defense? I'm not that far into it yet but I'm imagining a lot of the enemies later on can't be juggled. Unless they start off with smaller enemies that have a lot of HP, I feel like it's useless. Maybe if the devs never add a vacuum character and you just have to "push" enemies together for a juggle then yeah maybe. Otherwise, unless that juggle does a lot of damage, you'd probably be better off using your highest damage rotation if you can group them up. As soon as they're dazed (and it's extremely quick), they're as good as dead...

For controller it is easier as you just spin the stick but for M&K you need to hit W-A-S-D-W-A to spin. I only have experience with Nicole but I believe Iyo said the combo of Anby and Piper is good for juggling the enemies. So if you are into that then that sounds like a good idea. Obviously Nicole is good too. Being a support character allows for the quick assist trigger that is described in her X special attack. So if you did this I would place them in the order of Anby, Nicole and Nekomana. This way when Nicole triggers quick assist it will be your dps Nekomana that attacks. My current team uses Anby, Nicole and Anton. I've been enjoying this team so far.

    Nekomata does increased dmg from behind only if she is M1 or with her signature w-engine (weapon); otherwise the positioning doesn't matter.
    EDIT: Also, i see 99% of players parry/dodge only with next unit; you can also parry with your previous unit. Useful on teams that have 2 defensive dodge units like Grace, Rina etc. (units that don't parry) and a melee unit that can parry. For example on a team with Anton, Grace, Rina you can actually parry every time with Anton to build his energy way faster by switching back from Grace; i would almost always prioritize parries first and when u run out of them do dodges. Don't sleep on parries!

    Don’t say I’m saying this bcs I’m in early game, I’m rank 40 and done Shiyu defense up to floor 14 with only 1 level 50 characters which is Ellen and everyone else 40 and are all A rank characters since my luck is sh*t and got 2 copies of Rina and she does not fit in my teams(Ellen + Anby + Soukaku, Corin + Piper + Lucy)
    Team building won’t even matter that much in just a few patch where characters have massive powercreep to a point they can basically solo the content at C0R1
