I agree with so much of this. And I also enjoy the historical liberties they take knowing it’s for entertainment purposes. But what was up with that cage dress? Haha! I did feel they spent too much time on the side characters stories probably because I’m familiar with the historical figures stories so I was like come on there’s so much story to tell and no time to waste!

Thanks for watching! I'm so glad you mentioned that "cage dress." Oh my god, that was definitely my least favorite for sure. There were other dresses that probably weren't the most accurate either, but at least they were still pretty. And yeah, I totally felt the same----so much story, so little time to tell it, and a lot of time spent on other characters that are ultimately not going to have any sort of real impact on the future of the story.

I think the title itself is inaccurate because the term "Spain" and "Spanish" wasn't used at her time. She was the "infanta" of Castille and Aragon not the "Spanish Princess"

Really? I don't think that's something I ever realized. I know the term "infanta" was used, but "spanish" wouldn't have? I just had to go look that up. So would the proper term have been Castilian?

    • @themage1114

@@MagicOfBooks probably Castilian because the merging of the two kingdoms officially happened in the 1700s. Also if you'll noticed people sometimes refer European Spanish as Castellano

They have used the term "Spain" most of the time during the reign of the Habsburgs, during the time of Juana's son Charles V, HRE but not the term Spanish when describing the people yet. One reason was Spain had separate kingdoms (Castile and Aragon) and Charles inherited them all unlike during the time of Juana when you need to be specific what kingdom you're referring to.

Just started watching this series but I already know how it goes down lol. Just curious, are these series made by the same creators as The Tudors? Catherine was my favorite wife so that's why I started this series. I didn't watch the other two; they just couldn't hold my attention. I've binged The Tudors multiple times.

No, this series is not created by the same team from the Tudors. This is from the same group that produced The White Queen and the White Princess though, as they are all following the Philippa Gregory books. Love the Tudors as well, and even though I know exactly where things are going it's still fun to see this groups take on these events.

Your review and analysis was so helpful to understand what was fictitious and truthful

(Sorry for any spelling/grammer mistake! I don't speak english) Loved the video. And *hated* the spanish princess- and I have weird reason why.
The constant princess was the first tudor book I had read at age 12, and it started my obsession. I started to read and watch everything I could on the period. When I first heard about the spanish princess I got really excited.
The problems with the show is that first thing, the outfits and acurit are wrong. Those I could forgive, but the fact that when Henry and Cathrine first met in the show when he is a teen and not a child as in real life, I can't. Also, I was really disapointed by the fact that María de Salinas replaced by lina. I didn't mind the fact that she liked a muslim gay (it could have been intresting) but I wish I could see her real lady in wating.
Also, the nudity scenes are unecesry.
Plus, in the series Elizabeth of york potrated as a bitch. When they chaged a bit of her charcter for the white princess I didn't mind because unlike the book (where she is more of a passive woman who is in love with a husband who feels nothing to her) I felt it made her more like the real Elizabeth, who actually had happy with her husband. The problem is that the real white princess was a kind, good woman who thought little about politic and was a good oppisite to her paranoid husband. She even paid to brought Cathrine back to court after Arthur death!
I also wish we could see more of Henry's ambitions as a child, and the fact the at first he was inteanded to be a priest. I feel like the show didn't deal with it well.
Also, instead of sleeping with Joanna (which probably never happend) I would have rather see him sleeping with Elizabeth bolyn as he was rumerd.
Lastly, the book was focused more on the power of woman in the early age. It also tries to be similler to the history. The show is more fictional.
Wow, it was longer than I thought....

After all this time I finally finished Season 1 man that was so intense. The later episodes were so edge of your seat. Now that I think about it the second lady in waiting Rosa's character did nothing for the show. I hated lady Margaret's character she had her little plots and every time she wanted to do what she wanted she would try to override Henry the 7th decision. I was happy when things would go against her. Then when she finally passes. I was like FINALLY!!!!!!! She was such a nut case. I guess that's good acting because it was so believable. It was like Katherine in Reign at least her character wasn't as mean I feel with this character. Sometimes you wanted to root for her and other times you felt sorry for her. Not this character that's for sure. I loved Lady Pol's character she was so believable. She was a strong character. I thought she was going to take Margaret's character out right there at the end with a pillow or with the blanket. Henry the 7th's death was so brutal to look at my God then Margaret lays down in his bed with the blood on the pillow so gross. LOL. I'm ready for Season 2.

Nice video and bruhhh I hated rosa too .. not just the character (because I agree if she was taken out it wouldn’t have made any difference to the story and she definitely annoyed me as well) butttttttttt her acting was terrible imo 😬

Haha! Glad I'm not the only one that was frustrated with Rosa. She made no sense to me. Super excited for the new season! Thanks for watching!
