There's an old version of this with pink floyd playing over the vieqcues ranges, but copyright meant they had to replace the song - thanks for the upload anyway! Shine on you crazy diamond.

3:58 a bandsman playing Rhapsody in Blue. Beautiful cultural heterodoxy.

Yes, the replaced soundtrack is just weak and irritating whereas the Pink Floyd one gave you goosebumps especially in sync on the aircraft launch and weapons firing...shame on you .BBC . Now its on here maybe someone can do the right thing?

Todays RN is smaller, has unreliable ships and to my mind, the Queen Elizabeth II aircraft carrier is of debateable military value (probably of more diplomatic, 'force projection' tool in the post-Brexit age(.
Great that a docuentary record was made to record the ship, But perhaps it is a sad reminder of how much we've fallen.

john jones Queen Elizabeth is shaping up to be a very capable warship, what we need is more F35s(again great aircraft) as theyre coming in very slowly, we need a lot more destroyers and frigates, auxiliaries, submarines, stocks, overseas bases, we are a shadow of even what we were in the late 80s

Assessments like this is exactly why the Ark Royal was retired over a decade early and never replaced. The military and political significance of capable capital ships is immeasurable it takes a war to demonstrate their potential. Something only annother nation could do for the other.

Smaller yes and that is wrong but unreliable ships and a debatable QE class I wouldn't say so. The ships today are modern technologically advanced and built for this age. Ships of the era this documentary was made in would be rust buckets today and would require big upgrades and modernisation. The QE class are two of the most modern carriers in the world able to carry up to 50 5th gen stealth F-35 jets, they would easily kill any jet of the 70's era without a sweat. It's often quoted that one Type 45 is worth five Type 42's when it comes to anti air warfare capabilities.

@@tanyard well said. Im not going to discuss the F35b and its tech. But the type 45s and its ability to send a full target package to individual F35s each package being one of many different ones. So each F35b pilot has unique targets to prosecute.
Far more advanced than anything we had 35 years ago.
