This is really good advice for beginners. Even when your not feeling motivated some days, just making yourself sit down and practice for about 30mins to an hour a day can really make a difference and possibly give you the motivation to do more. Taking breaks are VERY important. getting burnt out and feeling unmotivated or frustrated is the worst feeling you can get while learning to script. Allowing your mind to rest/ reset can help you think more clearly and make it easier to find solutions.
I use Chat GPT bro, it really helped me when creating my Incremental game inside the player's screen GUI. I had to reference every element of my game and batch up all my functions together, so the performance stays great. I put my entire focus on the foundation of my code and consider the scope and size of my project.
hi bro, chatgpt helped me a lot but sometimes makes mistakes itself and its annoying, should i start from the bottom with it and tell it everything i do in the game for it to understand?
@@antmiq308 It is called Roblox Incremental, it is still in its development phase. I'm still trying to figure everything out as I go while using resources on the internet for guidance. It is very data heavy and I want to keep things organized and manageable.
@@wolt.imhappy What if you learn how to code? Even if you tell chat gpt everything, it will prob still make mistakes, and since you dont know how to code you will not me able to fix the problem
personally, when i was first getting into roblox scripting (like 7 years ago), having some earlier experience on scratch really gave me a head start on understanding stuff. also, the "roblox university" videos gave me a good basis on how roblox's version of lua worked.
W video. I've been developing on-and-off for somewhere in between 2 and 3 years now. I just started developing again this summer. I am exponentially better than years ago when I would abandon my projects, start new ones, and abandon them again. Now I actually have a game I'm comfortable with and one I will never abandon until it's done. TY to TheDevKing's tutorials + Squidingz for specific types of scripts, but had this been the first video I watched a few years ago, I would be 10x better than I am now.
Hey, great video, about to start getting into developing, mainly focused on scripting, however I’m stuck at a point in my life where time is limited (GCSEs, college, university etc). How did you fit learning and practicing coding whilst living your life and other responsibilities?
I learnt scripting with RUclips tutorials, it never made sense until it randomly hit me in the head a few months forward and now each day I learn something new in scripting.
Watching RUclips tutorials can help however it depends on who you learn it from. I would recommend for you to practice scripting at least 15 minutes per day. It can be as simple as changing the color of the block when the player touch it.
@@itswild. memorizing isn't really the best way to learn coding. You only remember like a portion of that script. What I would recommend is to learn about syntax and structure of your code.
Guys this is all true especially the breaks for example i was trying to code a shop every time i open it it opens when I closed it… it didn’t. Took a break realized it was because it was a simple fix.
super late.. but i have another advice. *DO NOT GET STUCK IN WHAT I CALL "TUTORIAL HELL"* tutorial hell is when your stuck trying to do everything off tutorials, consuming LOTS of your possible coding time.

I also recommend starting to practice coding in the morning. In the morning your brain is the sharpest and you will do your work better.
I totally agree. I practice coding for at least 15 minutes when I first wake up each day. I would normally code like simple things.
