G'evening James, you just got a new sub 🤓 . I'm an Idaho Spud and my wife and I recently moved to northeast FL. I just got new risers, handlebars, switches, buttons, wiring and controls on my 01' Roadstar after it sat for 3 years after we lost our home in ID. to a 🏠🔥 . When it was part of the tank was full and of course it went rotten and I lost the keys in the 🔥. I got a good used ignition switch and gas cap with the key on eBay and I got the carburetor cleaned out and finally got her running. Now I need to read it and retune it and I just did my first oil change on it since I've had it 😁 .
Idk if you've heard about it or not but the front brakes on the 1600s sucked because they had floating calipers and fixed discs. The bolt on front brake upgrade for the 1600 Roadstars are to switch the front brakes out with fixed 4 piston calipers and semi-floating front discs off of a 1700 Roadstar. But you don't want the brakes off of a 1700 Roadstar with wire spoke wheels because they have the same brake setup as the 1600s. The fixed brake calipers and semi-floating rotors are on the 1700 Roadstars with mag style wheels & they bolt right on. You may also need the 1700 brake master cylinder so grab one of those as well just in case. You can also find the same fixed 4 piston calipers and semi-floating rotors on the early Yamaha r1, R6 and Roadstar Warrior 😁 ..
