@@Aenygma_ Look the word up. More than one meaning and he correctly used it in an acceptable way. Some synonyms for it are: measure, standard, indicator, basis, yardstick and more. An additional definition: something that reflects a change in circumstances or opinions. While you are correct about the primary meaning of the word barometer, it, like many words in the English language has acceptable alternate meanings. Compass is a prime example. It is literally a device to aid in physical direction. It is also used as a direction in your moral beliefs, as in your moral compass.

Nichole D - Same place religious people do. Any religious person who 'picks and chooses' what to follow from their religious texts is using judgement outside religion to decide how to act. That outside influence is generally the society around them and society chooses their morals on what they think is best for them as a whole in regards to their well being and health.
Religious people will simply find correlations between their texts and what society encourages or allows and say 'SEE! Its from religion' when in fact its the other way around. If Christian Americans got their morals from the bible they would still be owning slaves and treating them in line with how the book mandates.

I honestly think that I don't think that believing in religion or God has a future. In cases like this, people have to realise that science is full of benefits. From the transistor of our CPU to the James Webb telescope, science has so many amazing things that can and will provide us with countless benefits, but overall, I think we should try to solve things with as little as possible human suffering, no matter what someone's belief is.

The fulfillment of prophecies will serve as proof that God exist.
God's promise that He will bring His people back in the land
In 1948 the Jews return to the land after having been
scattered from all over the world for more than 2000
years after they were expelled by the Romans during the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D
Mark Twain, a famous American writer and journalist visited Israel in 1867. This is how he described the land,
      " A hopeless, dreary and heart-broken land"
Before the re-establishment of Israel back in 1948, the land was almost empty and desolate
as Mark Twain attested when he went to visit Israel in 1867.
But when the Jews came after the holocaust, they tilled the land armed only with simple tools to cultivate it.
With God's help, the desert bloomed again.
      This fulfilled the prophecy in
      Ezekiel 34:29
"And I will make their land famous for its crops,
so my people will never again suffer from famines or
      the insults of foreign nations"
"Thus said the Lord God: ...you, O mountains of Israel, shall yield your produce and bear your fruit for My people Israel, for their return is near. For I will care for you: I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. I will settle a large population on you, the whole House of Israel; the towns shall be resettled, and the ruined sites rebuilt. I will multiply men and beasts upon you, and they shall increase and be fertile, and I will resettle you as you were formerly, and will make you more prosperous than you were at first. And you shall know that I am the Lord. I will lead... My people Israel to you, and they shall possess you. You shall be their heritage, and you shall not again cause them to be bereaved." (Ezek. 36:8-12)
Israel is a desert and lacks water to develop its agricultural lands
but israel has become the biggest exporter of fruits, vegetables, and flowers
overseas. It even supplied flowers to the Netherland which is a well-known international exporter of flowers.
These are just two of the prophecies that have been fulfilled, the return of the Jewish people back to the land
after 2000 years of being scattered all over the world. And the restoration of agricultural lands that produces
more and better crops for Israel.

    • @scholarlyanalyst7700
      @scholarlyanalyst7700 3 года назад +3

That's only half the story. The other half is that society's morals have largely been shaped by human evolution.
If you think about it really long and hard, what society collectively deems as moral tends to prolong the evolutionary life of the human species. Our collective moral traits (what we deem as moral) were naturally selected and is why we are still here (as a species).
Moral traits like sharing, compassion, cooperation allowed us to survive (we are the results of these naturally selected moral traits).
Of course, this evolutionary process is not consciously planned (therefore - not perfect!). We've also inherited undesirable traits - many more extreme than others.
So far, our species killing traits have not cancelled our mutually beneficial, moral traits - hence, why we are still here as a species.
Of course, Steve Harvey believes in insta-magic - not the more rational evolutionary process that uncovers the fact that things...whether astronomical objects and systems OR earth life - starts in very simple stages and gains increasing complexity very gradually over millions (and billions) of years.
Rather - Steve, Harvey thinks all this complexity is instantly popped into existence by magic.
What "process" sounds more plausible to you?
