Pearl has never said anything more true than "I am not really educated."
I find it amusing how she tells women they need to be "good, submissive traditional women" while she herself is anything but. She's 26 and looks 30+, single, childless, career-focused, independently wealthy (so never has to rely on a man), combative, opinionated, domineering, has the whole "girl boss" attitude going on and is honestly quite masculine. By her own words, those are things men don't like in a woman. By the "logic" of her "beliefs," she's going to end up a bitter old childless spinster whose only company is 7 cats, a box of wine and a cucumber. But she won't unless she wants to, because her view of how these things work are not based in reality, and she knows it. She will have no trouble finding a man, just as the overwhelming majority of women don't.
There are words for people who preach one thing while living their lives in the opposite: Charlatans. Grifters. Fakes. Liars.

Point is not every video of her will make 100k. Also what if that 100k video was only just 30k ad revenue and the rest sponsorship. You won't get money from the sponsorship cut.
As an employer this is a dream deal but as an employee this is almost a nightmare.
Giving 3 years of your life to absolutely nothing. Might as well just sit at home a year do an online degree in IT or something and get an actual job that gives you most of the safety nets.

Someone with Nigerian parents here and while the whole idea that "Africans hate black Americans" is wrong and overexaggerated, HOWEVER they aren't really best buddies either, values are different. Africans are more traditional and conservative a good example being some shit I have seen fly in black households wouldn't in mine lol. Honestly my upbringing is more similar to that of my Asian friends from immigrant families like mine compared to my black American friends. That said some Africans have interesting views of black Americans, some consider them lazy and absolutely detest rap culture among others. But this differs greatly depending on whatever African u encounter. This is more of the response you would get from an older African, especially those who hasn't lived here for a while, or again they happen to be very conservative. Younger "Africans" from immigrant families who were born or raised here will most likely disagree and they tend to align more with their black American side than African often.

Because taking 30% of revenue from an episode would be pretty good if the 70% pearl is getting also includes paying editors, overhead, other creators present. Actually, Pearl wanted 70% of the Ad revenue on Sa Ra Garvey’s channel and he would have to be in her office working 7 hours/day. That’s a crappy deal. Especially if 1 or 2 of his videos go viral then he’d only receive 30%. Now, he is better off paying the fees for an editor, talent scout, etc…Pearl was offering essentially a 360 deal. Not smart on his part to accept it. Pearl doesn’t get a lot of views for the amount of subscribers.

I think destiny’s being obtuse about the colonisation thing. firstly his explanation was more or less the same as the British guy. Secondly, just because the contracts are not literal colonialism doesn’t mean there aren’t certain parallels, which he points out pretty clearly (building your own country/brand on the backs of other while leaving them broke). And as far as the TLC/music thing, yes all artists get screwed, but again there’s a pattern of overwhelmingly white record labels and the black artists being exploited and left broke, this is simple stuff. It’s not a purely black and white thing but just a general pattern and I think he has a point.
The general pattern is companies and corporations can exploit individuals. You as an up and coming artist need the network, marketing, access and infrastructure of larger companies to distribute your art. Just because you are a talented artist, doesn’t mean shit. Making money from your talent requires infrastructure and large institutions working for you. And too bad it’s not free
