I am always sooo amazed at how generous people are in donating food to food banks/pantries. You received alot of wonderful food, and when I saw your 2 bags of walnuts... wow! That would cost a fortune, where I live, to buy that. Enjoy your wonderful food and have a terrific day today 😀.
What a huge blessing. Wow. Now, i love salmon patties. I keep them simple, just like my mom and grandma made. Drain the salmon well. 1 egg. Crackers. Salt/pepper/minced onion. Finely diced green pepper if u have it. Otherwise form into patties and fry in a bit of oil. I love mac n cheese and green beans on the side. Honestly, salmon patties are on my last meal request, lol.
Mama made the best salmon patties but it was with a 15 oz can of pink salmon which I know from time to time the food banks here give they may at ur's also so here it is...can of pink salmon with skin and bones removed 1 egg and just enough Self Rising Flour to hold the patties together and fry in enough grease to cover them half way they are SOOO good dipped in Mac and Cheese on the stove top mama added a slice of American Cheese and extra milk to the boxed stuff so the soupy part as she called it was extra for dunking the salmon patties in keep up the good work and God Bless Connie C
WOW!! Such an awesome haul!!! It was worth missing the pantry the other day for all that. SO nice and such terrific items. I'm SO happy for you. Love that you share with the neighbors. I'm sure they feel blessed too... Sweet.
Hi Susan, You are right, I am not going to go to my usual food bank on Wednesday, my plate is full and I dont need anything. Which is lovely for this week. I wish this would happen for everybody.
A really amazing haul! I'm so glad these items got distributed rather than wasted. You'll have a wonderful time coming up with meals that make good use of these supplies.(I was having a glass of wine when the video got blurry! It must have been me, not you! lol)
the food bank o go to you get a hamper once a month and you can also pick from the floor once a week. the hamper is maybe about 1/4 of what you all got there.
Those short ribs are wonderful. I had some made when we got beef last year. You need to cook the quickly or possibly low and slow. But yum! No way I'd pay that either!
That is one huge haul!! More importantly, I could tell by the sound of your voice how much you appreciate it. I so wish I had a food bank in my area. The nearest one is an hour away and there is not public transportation here either. There was a point in time about 12 years ago, that I needed an extra hand and had food pantries in the area I used to live. The hauls were more than adequate also. I now live in a different state in a much more country type area.
Wow What a haul! You got enough stuff that you don't need to make a trip to store this week. I usually get lentils, nuts, apples, potatoes and onions (potatoes and onions have only been last 5 weeks). I would not mind if i got nice big apples like you got but i get these tiny ones in a 3 pound bag. Nobody is a fan of them so i have been turning them into apple sauce to use when i bake to lower oil use. I go to the drive thru 5-6 times a month so i have tons of apples and onions at the moment. Last night cleaned and bagged up 4 bags of onions 3 ways for freezer. Kept one bag fresh in frig. Now when they stop giving onions i will still have some. My family has used these drives to eat. I have a zero $ budget for food for another few months before i can afford to buy anything. I been super lucky to get some meat from a church pantry once a week. The church has learned of my limit of what meat i can eat so will hold back fish or chicken for my family. If not i have no choice but to not take the meat. They held back fish sticks 2 weeks ago. That made me laugh. I tried them and that was a huge NO from me. I would rather starve. But my little one loves them so if they give them out i will happily take them. I don't mind vegan meals so i just make myself vegan meal and save the meat for little one. She needs it more than i do. That brownie mix got me excited, lol. I love my sweets. I saw it was soy. The one ingredient that seems to be slipping into everything premade. I am highly allergic to soy and i have just found out my little one is also allergic to it. Now i have to watch both our foods for it. Soy causes lots of gut issues. Most people don't even know why they are so violently sick. They will think it was food poisoning but it was the soy that was snuck into their food. Walnuts, i candy them when i get those. I love biscotti so i made a swirl biscotti with syrup i made from food bank and dried cranberries chopped up and then i added some chopped up almonds. (Almonds because i have a stack of 6 bags and i don't really like snacking on those). You and Grandma are going to be eating very good this week. Plenty of food and snacks.
Hi Mae, My heart is with you. Your current situation sounds challenging, and it sounds like you are facing it with grace and dignity and an iron will. I am proud of you Mae, and the way you are doing your best. I do the same thing with my onions and I try to preserve things so it is easy for my to cook in the moment. Carry on Mae you can do it. Keep me posted on your journey, Let me know how you are doing. deannak99206@gmail.com youcan reach out to me here if you like!
I'm working through my freezer and cooked up grd beef to make chili. Will eat some and freeze the rest in portions. How fun! If you like red beet pickled eggs, I have a good recipe to use those extra eggs. For the chick peas, yes, hummus is awesome! I saw a recipe today for chick pea meatballs I'd LOVE to try!
With the potatoes you can make a mashed potato up then freeze that and you can pull them out, unsolved them and then add the egg get the flower and green onions for potato patties
Lol look @ the chicken running by in the background😂 Oh I had those short ribs at a restaurant once for a celebration in a beef bulgogi (sp?) it was so very yummy!
Angie...lol...those chickens are SO SPOILED! In a week or 2 they will be ready to spend days outside....plus Daddy coming home...lol...and he will not want them running through the house.
I do can it for 2 reasons, I dont have very much freezer space, but more than that, ican it because I can cook with it later as a convience food. My plate is so full that there days and days where I ned dinner to be fast and easy for me to cook. I do go through it quite quickly so I don't mind canning it. Thank you foryour comments and have a lovely day.
@foodbankbeautiful Canned meat makes for fast food at home. I love to have canned meat on hand for a quick meal. Plus, if you have a pressure canner, it's so easy to home can meat. My favorite is home canned corned beef, and it's just about to go on sale! Ps. I know it's not nchfp safe to can cured meats, but I'm ok with it. I'm not recommending anyone else do it :)
SO many reasons why! Donations, $, private and public funding. I volunteer at a small pantry completely dependent on parishioners. We manage to have 13 pantry staples, leftovers from Panera (bagels, bread, pastry), and an organic market, and we grow lots of veggies in our organic garden. We can only give what we get!
ohhhh I know, I see hauls where they have received cases of bacon, I dont keep pork in my house because my husband and gma dont eat pork.....but I was a bit jealous...lol. This food bank that I go to never used to have cheese or butter. I think maybe they got a grant, but I dont know for sure. What state are you in?
@@foodbankbeautiful I'm in Minnesota. We do get tomatoes and lettuce weekly do to there being factories in town that grow both. Just wish we had more meat.
There isn't anything wrong with you talking and explaining things throughout you video should be fine to all of your customers if they are seriously interested in your videos. God bless

The walnuts are weekly. I dont pick them up unless i am out....but they are always in a prepaid box. And yes, they are expensive.

There’s a lady on here that gets food bank hauls in when she cant use all her lentils she grows them in pots and feeds them to the chickens🎉
😂😅 lucky girl!!! Where are you? Maybe we should move! The commercial freezers died at our food pantry, 100 lbs, mostly meat, lost. 😢
Ohhhh Penny that is so sad! What a loss. I live in Washington state in Snohomish County.
